The courtroom doors had barely closed behind us when Cassian turned to me, his purple eyes filled with concern.
"Come with me," he said gently.
I blinked. "What?"
"You need to get out of here. Away from all of this." He gestured vaguely at the palace around us. "Please, Roxanne. Let me take you somewhere."
I wanted to say no to him. Wanted to go back to my chambers and hide under the blankets and pretend this entire nightmare wasn't happening.
But the worried look in his eyes stopped me.
"Okay," I heard myself say.
Relief flooded his features. "Good. Let's go."

Cassian led me through the palace gardens, Zorya padding silently beside us. He had somehow managed to procure a basket filled with food, fresh bread, cheese, fruits, small pastries that looked almost too pretty to eat.
"How did you—" I started.
"I have my ways," he said with a small smile.
