Chapter 77 - Chaos and Blood - Chapter 77

Three hours passed in a flash as the trio did not leave the bar and just ate and drank in small amounts.

Due to them being Nen users, drinking beer and small amounts of alcohol did not make them feel any different other than just having fun and calming themselves down.

Some of the details had already been spoken and finalized earlier.

There was no need to repeat them now.

The roles were clear.

The first distraction would be Adarte.

The second would be Anisa.

And the real strike the decapitation of the Herivo Mafia would fall to Conrad.

Adarte was the obvious choice for the opening move.

He had the build, tand the endurance to crash headfirst into a prepared force and survive the initial chaos.

Anisa, on the other hand, was more of a duelist; if a Nen user revealed themselves early, she would be far better suited to respond.

Adarte didn't like the implication that Anisa might be stronger than him, but he wasn't stupid enough to argue.

In the end, as a Heavens Arena combatant, he knew that record of Anisa was easy to see and her abilities suited her better and her capabilities were better.

Any Nen user that has enough experience who had watched Anisa fight could see it.

Those weren't things you could fake.

Once everything was decided, there was no ceremony.

They separated quietly and moved toward their designated positions.

Time passed.

Clouds thickened over Heavens Arena City, and rain began to fall slow at first, then heavier, streaking down the concrete and glass.

Conrad stood alone on a rooftop overlooking the building.

Rain slid down his coat and soaked into his hair, but he didn't move.

"Let's see…" he murmured.

He took a slow breath, steadying his heart.

Then he glanced at his phone.

The time was right.

Conrad nodded once.

"Time to start."

With a simple thought, he made the call.

The moment Adarte received the signal, he moved.

BOOM!!

The sound exploded through the street as Adarte dropped from the side of a nearby building, cracking the pavement beneath him.

Every armed man in the vicinity turned in shock.

"What the ?!"

"Contact!"

"Kill him!"

Gunfire erupted instantly muzzle flashes lighting up the rain-soaked street like strobe lights.

Bullets tore through the air, shattering windows and chewing into walls.

Adarte didn't stop.

With a grin, he surged forward, Nen flaring around his body as he closed the distance in a blur.

His bat swung in a brutal arc, crushing the skull of the first man before the sound of gunfire even registered.

Another swing.

Another body dropped.

"Fuck!" one of the men screamed. "He's fast!"

They tried to form lines to suppress him with numbers, but Adarte was already among them.

His movements were efficient; he learned through pain and refined through training.

Ever since Conrad had given his advice to him, he started taking his training more seriously and did not let go of the basics, focusing on controlling his en and duration of ren, which made him use ken to some degree. His speed and control had improved dramatically due to these trainings.

He didn't waste motion and were not amateur in terms of his use of nen.

A rifle cracked against his ribs.

Aura absorbed most of the impact.

He twisted, brought the bat down, and the man collapsed in a heap.

More bullets came. Adarte leapt and then smashed some of the other mafia members.

Rain mixed with blood, turning the street slick and red.

From a fifth-floor window of Strepo Apartment, Maxwell Herivo watched the scene unfold.

He could not see everything but understood that there is a dangerous individual killing his men.

He stood still, hands clasped behind his back.

The glass before him was thick, reinforced, and bulletproof.

Outside, chaos spread exactly as he had expected.

"So, it begins. They came for my life..."

Behind him, Cailo remained silent.

"One," Cailo said calmly. "Just as predicted."

Maxwell swallowed.

"This is the distraction, right?"

"Yes," Cailo replied. "Most likely,"

"Heavens Arena and City Council would like to be sure and take no chances."

"They would not send one nen user to handle everything, considering they know that you have a nen user that protects you."

Outside, Adarte roared as he brought his bat down on another man, the impact echoing through the street.

Armed guards repositioned, others firing wildly into the rain.

None of them noticed the shadow moving along the rooftops.

None of them sensed the absence where Conrad was.

As attention fixed itself on the violence below,

Conrad stepped off the edge of his building.

His orbs moved ahead of him like ghosts.

The rain swallowed all sound.

The real attack had begun.
