Conrad kept on working on the use of obelisks as much as he could.
He kept on using them to tail the people in the Heavens Arena while he was in his room.
For the best use of the ability, he believed that he needed experience and mastery over it.
If not, the ability would be powerful, but its use would be ineffective when he needed it.
"When I focus on a target, Obelisk that is closest to the target focuses on the target..."
"So, as long as I can identify a target while I close my eyes, I can use it to pinpoint the target location without any problem."
"I believe, if there is a Nen Barrier of some sort, Obelisks would be rendered ineffective."
"The ability does not have the capability to break other barriers."
"But such abilities are pretty rare, and I can think of counters for it later."
There are two uses of obelisks, as Conrad is starting to understand as he tested it out more.
Passive and Active. He separated from the use of it.
Passive is when he lives and acts normal. In this state, he can wander off and walk, fight, keep his eyes open, and use other abilities.
The information gathered by the obelisks was shared with him; not the best details given in such times, but it still acted like a weakened version of Nen.
He would see an attack behind him if Obelisk covered it, but he would not know how many attackers there were.
Active usage of the ability needs more focus, and his eyes need to be closed.
At this use, everything Obelisks gathers is given to him; he would know how many people inside of his area are covered by the Obelisks, if they are nen users or not, their body temperature, and all the things.
Conrad smiled for a moment and then closed his eyes.
"Hah..."
"Adarte and Anisa."
With one part of his mind, he focused on Anisa, and with the other part, he focused on Adarte. Anisa was in her room meditating while Adarte was in the bar drinking and eating snacks.
"They don't know that I can see them."
"It is like a bird's-eye view, like being a ghost."
Conrad stopped using the Obelisk actively and then nodded.
"The net amount that is getting spent is two or three times more than passively using it."
"If it is 1 point per second while passively using it, it becomes 3 or even 4 points per second when I close my eyes and actively use the ability."
"This should be expected. I guess."
Conrad thought.
After testing time was over, Conrad sat down first and then changed his clothes.
He then slept without wasting any time.
-
Inside of a meeting room with white color and heavy furniture, Elena entered the room.
"Beans."
"How do you do," she said as she noticed the green bean man.
Beans smiled.
"I am fine."
"Mister Mizaistom will arrive in a minute."
Elena nodded.
Not long after, Mizaistom arrived.
He was wearing black-and-white spotted clothing similar to a "cow."
"Sorry for being late."
"I had some things to do."
Elena nodded.
"Not a problem."
"So, I would like to hear the reason I am here?"
Mizaistom nodded and pointed to one of the chairs, and then he sat down as he said it.
"Beans, I would like coffee; I do not need milk."
Beans nodded and looked at Elena.
"Nothing," she said and then sat down close to Mizaistom.
Mizaistom then started talking.
"Hunter Conrad Everest and his friends managed to solve a big problem that the Hunter Association had problems with."
"According to our information, they were able to kill six and seven nen users of the Matilda Kingdom too."
Elena nodded.
"I said to you that he is a powerful guy."
Mizaistom nodded.
"Yeah."
"I can see that now."
"The reason for you being here is that I want you to contact Conrad and invite him here for me to meet with him."
Elena did not expect Mizaistom to have such a wish. In the end, he was one of the Zodiacs.
Other than second in command Pariston and Netero, the Chairman, he was one of the managers of the whole Hunter Association.
"May I know the reason?"
Mizaistom looked silent.
He then made eye contact with her and spoke.
"Truth be told, I would like you to not know what I am going to tell Conrad."
"It is something private for me, and only individuals that may have something to do with it should know about it."
Elena nodded.
"I get it."
Mizaistom opened his phone, and then a second later, Elena checked her phone and smiled.
"100 million Jenny transferred to your bank account."
Mizaistom then said.
"This is for your troubles, including the fact that you found a hunter like Conrad for the mission."
Elena nodded and smiled.
"Thank you."
"But I cannot force him to come, you know."
"I can just notify him about your wish and give your phone to him."
Mizaistom nodded.
He understood that much.
While Elena said this, she also knew that in reality, Mizaistom used his authority over Conrad as a Zodiac.
He can call him to his side with an official invitation, and rejection would mean problems for Conrad.
As a hunter, as long as there is not a big danger and great reason, one must try to answer the call of a Zodiac, one of the managers of the whole association.
Still, such actions are not to be used by many other hunters, as they believe it is not fitting for them at all.
After some small talk later, Elena left the Hunter Association Building and then messaged Conrad to see if he were free to talk and then thought about what Mizaistom may want from him.
Not that she cared much about it but, she still entertained the thought of it.
