"Suiton: Kaiyō no Kyojin (Ocean Titan)"
Fuguki and his two clones formed the same hand seals, then began releasing a massive amount of water, filling everything around them in what looked like a swirling vortex.
Daigo retreated backward, watching Fuguki execute his final move. He could have cut him off midway and ended the fight but what fun would that be?
Ever since arriving in this world, all he had done was train for battles like this. Cutting them short so quickly? Nah ihe doesn't like that.
The water vortex kept growing until it stopped and from the water, a whale even larger than the previous one formed. Though this one wasn't used to charge at Daigo; it stayed still, like a summoning.
Fuguki leaped onto the whale's back forming a hand seal. The whale previously motionless now seemed to come to life, slamming its tail to send a powerful wave toward Daigo.
Daigo as he had before used Shōton: Suishō Sekai (Crystal Release: Crystal World) to block Fuguki's constant attacks, which resembled a tsunami.
Turning them into crystal Daigo had to shatter them afterward because there was a chance Samehada would devour the crystal again and feed that chakra back to Fuguki, making the fight of attrition even worse.
Feeling his chakra reserves dropping more with each converted wave, Daigo knew he couldn't keep this up.
Seeing Fuguki wasn't looking perfect either, he knew this was his chance to use the Fifth Breath of the Seven Heavens though he hadn't fully mastered it. It was too strong for his body if he used it for just one minute, it would be enough to break through his defense and end the fight.
Creating a clone that used the same jutsu to hold back Fuguki's waves, Daigo moved farther back beginning to control his breathing and concentrate.
As his father had said, the first four breaths were much easier to access than the last three being the fifth the last one he could use.
With his breathing under control, Daigo began regulating the amount of oxygen flowing through his body. Where it had once been calm, now it surged stronger making the pink aura around him intensify, showing stronger than before.
Looking ahead, Daigo noticed his clone disappear struck by another wave revealing Fuguki smiling.
He could see from afar how Fuguki savored victory though Daigo wouldn't let that happen.
Maybe if he fell, he'd have to deal with Pakura and she wasn't that weak. Perhaps she and him were on the same level.
Pakura had a bit more experience but he wasn't far behind. With plenty of training, he overshadowed that weakness.
Seeing Fuguki's next attack heading toward him, Daigo for the first time used his father's technique.
Positioned in a guard stance, he brought his fist to his hip then, with his other hand, began focusing all his energy into his fist.
He didn't care that the attack was getting closer he only focused on using all his concentration to create the attack.
Seeing it was ready, he raised his gaze feeling water droplets hit his face and unleashed his strike with all the force he had accumulated.
"Breathing of the Seven Heavens: Shinkū-ha - 'Ten' (Vacuum Impact: Heaven)," he said as his fist struck the wave.
In an instant, the giant wave that was going to destroy Daigo was shattered by such a powerful wind pressure that it pierced through like butter.
Not enough the wind shockwave continued striking the water whale making it recoil and forcing Fuguki to focus more chakra so his jutsu wouldn't break.
"Impossible, I thought he had nothing left he used everything," Fuguki muttered to himself looking at Daigo's new technique.
Daigo calming his stance noted the damage from the technique and decided not to waste time. He had had enough fun charging toward Fuguki.
Fuguki seeing Daigo come at full speed formed more hand seals with his hands.
"Dodge this if you can Suiton: Kujira no Shiofuki (Whale Blow Pressure)."
The whale previously striking with its tail rose even higher then pointed its head toward Daigo.
The blowhole on its head aimed directly at Daigo then a high-pressure water jet shot toward him.
The powerful jet reminded Daigo of the jutsu Tobirama used a water jet sharp enough to cut through steel.
Seeing this powerful attack, Daigo didn't think about blocking it, with his maximum speed, he dodged out of the way barely avoiding it.
Though he dodged it, he felt a burn on the right side of his stomach along with his clothes completely destroyed by the attack.
Now two feet from Fuguki, Daigo with the crystal blade on his arm slashed directly at the arm holding Samehada.
The cut was so clean that the arm flew into the air along with Samehada giving Fuguki no chance to react only feeling pain.
Seeing Samehada without a wielder, Daigo ignored Fuguki and moved toward the weapon.
Having it close he didn't hesitate covering it in a strong enough crystal layer so it couldn't be used.
And blocking its movement so it couldn't eat the crystal. Looking at the new crystal statue of Samehada, Daigo felt a bit of peace though he turned looking at Fuguki who, without Samehada, couldn't sustain his jutsu and collapsed.
"It's over, Fuguki. Without Samehada you have no way to heal that arm," Daigo said slowly approaching Fuguki who held his wounded arm.
"Looks like it is over. If I see you again I'll kill you. But I'd like to know your name so I don't forget it," Fuguki ask
"My name is Daigo the next Kazekage of Sunagakure," Daigo said with a quick motion, his crystal blade sliced the head off in a single cut.
The head didn't fall to the ground Daigo caught it in the air though the body wasn't the same falling and staining the ground with blood.
Daigo looking at Fuguki's head felt that he had finally reached the level of the strong. At 14 years old all those years of hard training to reach this level he had finally achieved it.
Feeling a hit on his shoulder he looked to see Pakura's face looking at him.
"Don't get satisfied just for defeating an enemy there are still people stronger than him," Pakura said noticing how Daigo seemed pleased with defeating Fuguki.
Daigo upon hearing that only smiled and nodded without saying it, he thanked Pakura. Maybe it was true he was satisfied just for defeating one person when in the
future there would be others to defeat even aliens.
"That was a high-level battle I didn't think you had gotten so strong," Shizuka said looking at the surroundings where everything was destroyed.
"Same here though I heard about you I didn't think you were that strong. Come here let me heal those burns on your stomach," Yashamaru said using the Mystical Palm and healing Daigo.
Daigo for his part let himself be healed while recovering chakra. Though he had a good amount left it wasn't for unnecessary spending. One never knew when another threat might appear.
"And what do we do with this? Samehada isn't just any sword Kirigakure will search for it again," Pakura asked observing Samehada which was trapped in a crystal block.
"We're taking it as a war trophy. If they want it they'll have to give us something equally strong in exchange or someone who can use it from Suna can keep it."
As daigo got heals the team burned all the bodies of the ninjas who died including Fuguki's which Daigo sealed the head to see if they could extract information.
With everything ready they returned to camp.
Back at the camp
Upon arriving, Daigo and the others went to Todo's tent which to their no surprise was quite lively with Haru and him drinking calmly.
"Eh looks like you had fun. We did too here," Haru said seeing Daigo and the others enter.
"I imagine you did too we had a pretty annoying enemy, but we completed the mission," Daigo said sitting down to drink water while Baki placed the crystal block on the ground.
"Hmm so you faced a Mist swordsman and managed to steal his sword. That's my brother," Todo said standing up to approach and observe surprised to see it was Samehada.
"Oh so you stole it from Fuguki? Hahaha that pufferfish finally got a lesson."
The others heard Todo talking and said nothing waiting for him to fall into the surprise when Daigo pulled out the scroll and placed it on the table and Fuguki's head appeared.
This surprised both Todo and Haru knowing what it meant to kill a Mist swordsman though neither felt fear. Instead they were happy about Daigo's progress.
"Well done. What do you plan to do with Samehada, son? Since you were the one who got it," Haru asked.
Daigo listening to his question thought about what to do though nothing came to mind.
"No idea for now we'll keep it and look for someone who can use it or wait until Kirigakure wants it back after the war and ask for something of equal value."
"Sounds good. Go rest you'll need it for the next attack when you're at 100%," Todo said making everyone leave except Daigo who stay.
Daigo who hadn't left approached the table and sat down grabbing the sake jug and pouring himself some before the eyes of the two man.
Not expecting it he brought it to his lips and drank savoring the bitter taste.
"Looks like you didn't like it, son," Haru asked.
"It's not bad just bitter. Pour me another I deserve it."
Daigo continued drinking with the other two drunks where they spent the night enjoying until dawn, when they went to sleep.
A few weeks later
In the deep and perpetual mists of the Village Hidden in the Mist, an emergency meeting was taking place in the Mizukage's tower.
The atmosphere was icy not from the weather, but from the bewilderment.
On a stone table, the clan head of the Hozuki clan was sweated profusely while keeping his hands on a special summoning scroll.
The symbols glowed with intense blue but after a hiss of white smoke, nothing appeared.
"It's useless," the head of the clan sentenced.
"The contract is still active which means the sword hasn't been destroyed but something is blocking the call. A physical or high-level sealing interference."
A sharp slam echoed in the room. One of the Mizukage's advisors stood up furious.
"Are you telling me we not only lost Fuguki but Samehada has fallen into enemy hands?" he roared.
"That sword is a national treasure a piece of our history and military power!" Said another advisor
"The reports from the reinforcements we sent to the camp after the smoke and noises are clear," an ANBU with a heron mask intervened.
"Fuguki who was at that base was attacked by a squad of about 4 strong ninjas along with the camp finishing off everyone and destroying everything thanks to the fight leaving traces of Fuguki's high-level jutsu."
"Also the only ones close enough that we wouldn't notice are Suna since Konoha couldn't be with their hands full, and the other two are also busy."
The silence that followed was sepulchral.
That the Mist lost one of its Seven Swordsmen was a hard blow but that the strongest Great Sword of all was captured by the Village of Sand was an unprecedented humiliation.
"Sunagakure has crossed a line," the Mizukage whispered from the shadows.
"Send spies. If we can't recover Samehada by force now that we're at war, we'll make sure the name of the ninja who took it is first on our Bingo Book. It will cost him dearly for stealing from the Mist."
In the Land of Wind
Hundreds of kilometers away in the arid heart of the Sand the Third Kazekage read a report that seemed to surprise him. Beside him, advisors Chiyo and Ebizō watched their leader's usually stoic expression transform into one of genuine, affirming smile.
"Fuguki Suikazan has died," the Third announced placing the scroll on the desk.
"Daigo defeated him in a one-on-one fight obtaining Samehada under a crystal seal."
Chiyo let out a proud laugh her eyes shining with cunning.
"That boy I knew he was strong but defeating a Mist Swordsman at fourteen is something even Konoha's prodigy didn't achieve at that age."
"It's not just the victory," the Kazekage added standing up and looking toward the village through the window.
"It's the message. Kiri is weakened and we have their best weapon as hostage. Daigo hasn't just proven strength he's proven he has the temperament to carry the political weight of a trophy of that caliber."
The Third Kazekage took a pen and signed an official document with a crimson red seal.
"We can no longer keep him as a simple chūnin for lack of feats. His performance on the battlefield, his leadership, and mastery of Shōton place him above most of our jonin."
He looked at his advisors with determination.
"From today onward, Daigo is promoted to the rank of jōnin. But it won't take long for him to become one of the elite."
"As you say, Kazekage-sama," both replied.
