Moonlight slipped quietly through the paper windows of Yuri's room, painting pale silver patterns across the floor. The house was silent—too silent for Kamin to feel comfortable. He had come only to pass along urgent mission details, nothing more.
He slid the door open just a little, whispering,
"Yuri?"
No response.
He stepped inside.
Yuri lay curled beneath her blanket, her black hair scattered over the pillow, her breathing slow and rhythmic. Kamin paused. For someone usually alert to the smallest sound, she looked unusually… peaceful.
He frowned.
Is she really asleep? Or pretending again to avoid night duties?
He moved closer, leaning over her slightly to check.
Just then—
Yuri's body jerked violently.
Her eyes snapped open.
She gasped—like she was falling from a cliff in her dream—and shot upright.
CRACK!
Their foreheads collided with a sharp thud.
"OW—!"
"AH—!"
Both grabbed their heads at the same time.
Yuri glared at him, still half-dazed.
"K–Kamin?! What in the world are you doing in my room at this hour?!"
Kamin stepped back, rubbing his forehead and trying not to wince.
"I—I came to tell you about the next mission, obviously! How was I supposed to know you'd wake up like you were being chased by a demon?"
Yuri narrowed her red eyes.
"Well, how was I supposed to know you'd be standing over me like a creep?! Sneaking into a girl's room in the middle of the night—have you lost your mind?"
Kamin muttered under his breath, "I knocked… softly."
Yuri crossed her arms, irritation still burning across her face—and cheeks slightly red.
"You scare people when you appear out of nowhere. And don't lean over me like that."
Kamin sighed, looking away.
"Fine, fine. Just listen. It's about the mission tomorrow—"
Yuri interrupted, still annoyed.
"Fine. But next time, ENTER LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. Or I'll throw you out the window."
Kamin raised an eyebrow.
"At least you're awake now."
She clicked her tongue and looked away to hide her embarrassment.
"Just tell me the mission details and get out."
He did—though his forehead still throbbed—and as he spoke, he couldn't help but glance once more at Yuri.
She had been dreaming of falling…
He wondered why.
But for now, he kept that question to himself.
