Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: The Revenge

The orphanage smelled of candle wax and warm bread. After months of his one-sided crusade against crime and cults — steel, ash, blood, and broken prayers — Kyle finally stood somewhere that didn't echo with screams.Children ran around him, laughing. He let one sit on his shoulders. Another tugged at his coat. He handed out small carved wooden animals he had whittled during lonely nights. For a moment, the warrior disappeared. Mona watched him from the doorway."You're different here," she said softly. Kyle smiled. "They deserve a world that isn't burning." They had grown close — not through grand confessions, but through quiet moments. Shared silences. Shared grief. Shared survival. But peace in Kyle's life had never lasted.

That night, the wind changed. Sister Agatha — the elderly nun who had always seemed so gentle — stood alone in the chapel. Her hands trembled not with age, but with fury. Kyle had slaughtered the Heretics. He had ended the cult she secretly served for decades. And she had waited. Candles went out one by one. Symbols, carved beneath the altar long ago, began to glow faint red. The nun's prayer twisted into something older… darker."You destroyed my brethren," she whispered. "Now I destroy everything you hold dear… heh heh… ha hah ah… burn…" her eyes vibrated crazily…The ritual circle ignited.

Children slept peacefully in their beds, unaware of the shadow creeping beneath the floorboards.

And Mona… Mona was lured to the courtyard by a faint cry for help.

When she stepped into the moonlight, the gates slammed shut. A presence split the sky — vast, horned, crowned in fire and void.A Demon Prince. Not summoned fully — but tearing through.

Kyle felt it instantly. From across the orphanage, his smile vanished. The air turned heavy.

System initiating warning… DANGER… DANGER.Mission — Survive.

He ran. While the church was thrown into turmoil, a god-grade anomaly was detected. Evacuate… evacuate… Father Malcolm, disoriented from waking up, rushed to Kyle's quarters only to find it empty. He calmed himself and picked up a walkie-talkie."Initiate lockdown and evacuation protocol. Our weapon has sprung into action. May God be with you."

The orphanage doors exploded inward as Kyle burst inside and ran to the courtyard. The nun's eyes looked crazy, and her hands, bloodied with strange symbols carved into them, were no longer her own."You killed them, hahahahaha… cough cough… heh heh?" she hissed. "Then watch the destruction of your world."

Dark tendrils shot toward the dormitories.

Kyle drew his blade — but this wasn't a battlefield. This was a home.

The sky split open. Not lightning — but a wound.

Black fire poured downward as the Demon Prince forced more of himself into the world. Stone cracked. Windows shattered. The orphanage trembled like a living thing afraid to die.

Kyle looked around the courtyard.

Mona was suspended in the air by chains of burning sigils, her eyes wide but defiant."Run!" she screamed.

Kyle didn't.

The Demon Prince's voice rolled like thunder through bone."Kneel, Executioner. Your blade killed my worshippers. Your mercy ends tonight."

Kyle drew his sword.

The runes along the blade ignited — his System activating.TARGET: DEMONIC ENTITY – PRINCE CLASSSURVIVAL PROBABILITY: 0.7%RECOMMENDED ACTION: RETREAT

Kyle smiled faintly."Not happening."

He moved first.

The ground shattered beneath his step as he launched upward, blade screaming through the air. The Prince caught it with clawed fingers. Shockwaves flattened trees.

Kyle twisted midair, driving a kick into the demon's jaw. The impact cracked the courtyard stones like glass.

The Prince laughed. A tail of molten shadow whipped forward — impaling Kyle through the side and launching him across the orphanage wall.

Blood painted stained glass.

Children screamed inside.

Kyle forced himself up.

WARNING: ORGAN FAILURE DETECTEDWARNING: SYSTEM OVERLOAD IMMINENT

"Shut up," he muttered, wiping blood from his mouth.

The Prince extended a hand toward the dormitories.

Dark spears formed in the sky.

Kyle's eyes widened.

He ran.

Not toward the demon.

Toward the children.

He slammed his sword into the ground and spread both his hands, releasing the chains, creating a barrier. A radiant barrier erupted — his highest defensive skill. The shadow spears fell like meteors. The barrier cracked.

Again.Again.Again.

Each impact felt like a hammer striking his soul.

Mona screamed his name.

The final spear pierced through — grazing a child's shoulder before Kyle stepped in front of the next.

It struck him clean through.

He didn't fall.

He looked upward at the Demon Prince and screamed. All his skills were in overdrive. He manifested the chains again, pulling rocks and dragging them toward himself while he pushed another set of chains at the Demon Prince, trying to bind him. As the Demon Prince broke the chains, the stones were thrown by Kyle like a catapult, smashing into him. Kyle flew toward the Demon Prince with his sword and stabbed the demon's eyes, pushing him back.

The demon screamed and shot a ray of high-powered energy from its mouth at Kyle, slamming him into the ground. Kyle slowly pushed his sword into the ground and stood up, bleeding everywhere. The demon, enraged, shot another blast — much stronger — but not at Kyle, at the children.

Kyle didn't think. He pushed his burnt and bleeding body toward the children and stood before them, stretching his hand containing the Vega Bond ring, creating an absorption force. The ring began absorbing the attack. Seeing its attack being absorbed, the Demon Prince increased the intensity. The Vega Bond ring began showing cracks.

"No… not enough…" shouted Kyle, taking the full brunt of the blast.

System warningVega Bond full charge — release the energyWarning — ring crackingDamage: 70%

Kyle ignored the message. "A little bit more… now…"

The Vega Bond ring cracked, turning to dust — but released all the gathered energy at once toward the Demon Prince, cutting through his attack and hitting him directly in the mouth, burning his upper lip and half his face, which began regenerating. Kyle himself had healed due to his growth.

Kyle shouted, "System — analyze!"

System…Host, you have to kill her.

"What?" I looked at Mona… why… why her… I was filled with tears.

Host, she is going to die anyway. Her life force is being drained to sustain the circle. If you don't want her to become a vessel, it's better you kill her.

Kyle looked at Mona, who, as if seeing Kyle's tears, understood what had to be done. She shouted, "Do it, Kyle! If it's in your hands, I will be happy…" and she gave the cruelest smile to him.

Kyle stared at it.

This was it.

The thing that made him special. The thing that kept him alive through a hundred wars.

Destroy it… and he becomes nothing.

He looked at Mona. She was crying now — not screaming. Just shaking.

He remembered the first time she smiled at him.

He laughed bitterly.

"Guess I'm not built for happy endings."

The Demon Prince had recovered, but Kyle was not one to give up.

"In brightest day… no evil shall escape my sight…" Kyle screamed.

The System began ripping itself apart inside him. Light burst from his veins. Runes shattered like glass. Every energy inside him burned away.

Kyle screamed, "I don't choose the easy way because I don't care. I don't bow to fear. I am master of my fate. I don't need a superpower to defeat you, bastard!"

The light hit the Prince, cracking and healing the sky. The Demon Prince's smile faded."What are you—"

Kyle vanished.

And reappeared in front of the Prince.

No aura.No glow.Just a man.

He placed his hand on the demon's face.

"Go back to hell."

He unleashed the light and used the chains to bind the demon, pulling him down toward hell, entering the scorching dimension himself. Then he released all his energy.

White.Pure white.

The mixture of Patronus vitality and demon energy — two opposite forces — created an explosion that erased the courtyard, the chapel, the ritual circle, the summoned gate.

The Demon Prince screamed — not in anger, but in fear — as his manifested body disintegrated atom by atom.

The sky sealed shut.

Silence fell.

Smoke drifted over ruins.

Mona lay on broken stone — alive. The children… alive. The orphanage half-destroyed, but standing.

There was no trace of the Demon Prince. And no trace of Kyle.

No body.No blade.Nothing.

Just a faint warmth in the air where he had stood.

Mona crawled to the center of the crater.

She knew.

She screamed his name into the empty sky.

But there was no voice answering.

Days later, the children planted a small tree in the courtyard.

They carved a wooden animal at its base — one Kyle had made.

But he was gone.
