Chapter 18 - Floodline

Rain turned the streets into rivers.

Water rushed along the curbs, overflowing drains and pooling at intersections. Sirens wailed in every direction as emergency crews tried to control a city slipping into chaos.

And through it all, three figures ran.

Rennie. Tyler. Tommy.

With Jason walking behind them.

"Subway's this way!" Tyler shouted over the storm.

He pointed toward a dimly lit entrance half a block ahead. The metal railing glistened with rain, and the stairs below disappeared into darkness.

Rennie's shoes splashed through ankle-deep water as they ran.Her chest burned.Her legs screamed.But she didn't stop.Because she knew—If she stopped, Jason wouldn't.

Behind them, Jason moved through the flooded street.

Cars were abandoned.Police lights flashed in the distance. But nothing slowed him down. Each step steady. Each movement deliberate.Rain soaked his jacket, ran down his mask, dripped from the edge of the machete.

He didn't need to run.

They would lead him exactly where he needed to go.They reached the subway entrance.

Tommy grabbed the railing and rushed down the steps first.

"Move!"

Tyler and Rennie followed. The sound of the storm faded as they descended underground, replaced by the echo of dripping water and distant rumbling tracks. The station below was nearly empty.Emergency lights flickered.

Announcements crackled faintly over the speakers.

"Due to severe weather… service delays… proceed with caution…"

Water had already begun seeping across parts of the platform.Rennie looked around.

"This place is going to flood."

Tommy nodded.

"That's the idea."

Tyler wiped water from his face.

"So what's the actual plan here?"

Tommy moved quickly along the platform, scanning the area.

"Storm runoff floods certain tunnels during heavy rain," he said.

"If we can get Jason into one of those sections—"

Tyler finished the sentence.

"He gets trapped underwater."

Tommy nodded.

"Or slowed down enough for us to finish it."

Tyler swallowed.

"Finish it how?"

Tommy didn't answer.Because he didn't have a perfect answer.Only a chance.

A loud metallic bang echoed from the stairwell above. All three of them froze.Rennie turned slowly.

"He's here."

The stairwell door creaked open.Jason stepped onto the platform.Water dripped from him onto the tiles. The flickering lights made him look almost unreal.Like something pulled from a nightmare into the real world.Tyler backed up instinctively.

"Okay… plan's officially started."

Tommy grabbed Rennie's arm.

"Stay behind me."

Jason stepped forward. The distance between them began to shrink.Slowly.Relentlessly.Tyler looked around frantically.

"Where do we go?!"

Tommy pointed toward the far end of the platform.

"There's a maintenance tunnel. It connects to the lower floodline."

Rennie nodded.

"Then we go there."

They ran.

Footsteps splashing through shallow water.

The platform lights flickered harder now.

Some went out completely, leaving sections of the station in darkness.Behind them, Jason followed. His pace never changed. But the gap between them never grew. They reached a rusted metal door at the end of the platform.

Tommy yanked it open.A narrow tunnel stretched beyond, dimly lit by emergency bulbs.Water dripped steadily from the ceiling.

The air felt colder. He stepped inside.

"Go!"

Rennie and Tyler rushed through.

Tommy slammed the door shut behind them.

For a brief second, everything went quiet.

Tyler leaned against the wall, breathing hard.

"Please tell me he can't just—"

The metal door behind them dented inward. Once. Twice. On the third impact, it burst open.

Jason stepped through.

Tyler sighed.

"Of course he can."

They ran deeper into the tunnel.

Water now covered the floor completely, rising past their ankles.

Rennie slipped slightly but caught herself.

"How far does this go?" she asked.

Tommy answered without slowing.

"Far enough."

Behind them, Jason entered the tunnel. The confined space amplified every sound. Every footstep.

Every splash.

Every breath.

The tunnel sloped downward.

The water grew deeper.

Knee-high now.

Cold.

Heavy.

Tyler struggled to keep moving.

"This is insane!"

Rennie's voice shook.

"It's working… isn't it?"

Tommy glanced back.

Jason was still coming.

Unaffected.

Unstoppable.

Tommy's jaw tightened.

"Not yet."

They reached a wider section of the tunnel where the ceiling dipped lower.

Water poured in from cracks above, forming a steady cascade.

The sound was deafening.

Tommy stopped.

"This is it."

Tyler looked around.

"This?"

Tommy nodded.

"The floodline. When the storm gets worse, this place fills completely."

Rennie stared at the rising water.

"And we're just going to stand here and wait?"

Tommy shook his head.

"No."

He grabbed a loose metal pipe from the wall.

"We make sure he stays here."

Jason stepped into the wider tunnel.

Water splashed around his legs.

For the first time, there was resistance.

The current pulled slightly against him.

Slowed him.

But didn't stop him.

He kept walking.

Toward Rennie.

Tommy stepped forward, gripping the pipe tightly.

"Stay back," he said to the others.

Tyler's voice cracked.

"You're going to fight him?!"

Tommy didn't look back.

"I've done it before."

Jason closed the distance.

Tommy swung the pipe.

It connected with Jason's shoulder.

A dull, heavy impact.

Jason barely reacted.

Tommy swung again—harder.

Jason caught the pipe mid-swing.

Crushed it in his grip.

The metal bent with a sharp groan.

Tommy tried pulling back—

Jason yanked him forward and slammed him into the tunnel wall.

Water splashed violently around them.

Rennie screamed.

"Tommy!"

Tyler grabbed Rennie.

"We have to go!"

Rennie shook her head.

"We can't leave him!"

Jason lifted Tommy again and threw him into the water.

Tommy struggled to stand.

Jason stepped closer.

The water was rising faster now.

From knee-high…

to waist-high.

The tunnel was beginning to flood.

Rennie looked at the rising water.

Then at Jason.

Then at Tommy.

Her voice trembled.

"It's working…"

Tyler shook his head.

"No, it's not!"

Jason grabbed Tommy again.

But this time, the water slowed his movement slightly.

Tommy noticed.

He looked at Rennie.

"Go!" he shouted.

"Now!"

Rennie hesitated for one second.

Then Tyler pulled her away.

They ran back through the tunnel.

Water splashing behind them.

Tommy remained.

Facing Jason.

As the flood continued to rise.

Jason turned his head slightly.

Watching Rennie disappear into the darkness.

Then he looked back at Tommy.

The water climbed higher.

Chest level now.

The current growing stronger.

Tommy stood his ground.

Breathing hard.

"Come on," he muttered.

"Let's see if this still works."

Jason stepped forward.

The water surged around both of them.

The tunnel groaned under the pressure.

And for the first time since entering Manhattan…

Jason was being slowed.

Far down the tunnel, Rennie and Tyler reached the platform again.

Rennie stopped.

She turned back.

"We can't just leave him!"

Tyler grabbed her shoulders.

"He told us to go!"

Rennie shook her head.

Tears mixed with rainwater on her face.

"No… we finish this."

Behind them, the sound of rushing water grew louder. The tunnel was filling fast. And somewhere inside it…Jason Voorhees was still standing.
