## Five Years Later
Car horns blared. Engines roared. Voices overlapped in frustration.
"Oh my gosh—why is there so much traffic?" Selena muttered, gripping the steering wheel. "Ugh."
Thirty minutes later, she finally cleared the jam and pulled over, letting out a long breath.
"Oh my… I'm exhausted."
"Miss Selena."
She turned to see a woman standing confidently nearby.
"Oh—hello, ma'am," Selena said politely. "You must be the new CEO, right?"
"Yes," the woman replied with a calm smile. "I'm Ruby."
"Oh—so how can I help you?" Selena asked.
Ruby hesitated.
"Well… there have been several murders happening lately. Kidnappings too. We had only one skilled detective assigned to this case but…" Her voice trailed off.
Selena raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess. He died?"
Ruby nodded slowly. "Yes. And I want to give you this case. I'll promote you to a higher rank as well. Please… help us. Just this once, Detective Nam."
Nam. Yes.
That was the name the world knew now.
After Christmas Eve in Russia, Selena disappeared. She crossed borders, erased records, buried her past—and was reborn in Korea under a new identity.
"I hate this," she murmured under her breath.
She looked back at Ruby. "Fine. Give me the details. But this will be the last serial killer case I take ."
"I'm so grateful to you, Detective Nam!" Ruby said, bowing deeply.
"M-ma'am—please don't bow!" Selena said quickly, embarrassed.
Later that day, Ruby called her into the office.
She laid out the files.
"November28," Ruby began.
"Moscow, Russia.
18:39:01 PM.
Soldier Myung-Dae—murdered."
"Saint Petersburg, Russia.
19:20:01 PM.
Detective Kwang—murdered."
"Oslo, Norway.
23:05:50 PM.
Officer Ethan—murdered."
Selena's jaw tightened.
"November29," Ruby continued.
"Tokyo, Japan.
06:30:00 AM.
Spy Helena—murdered."
"Shibuya, Japan.
10:40:59 AM.
Journalist Lia—murdered."
"All of them fought against organized crime," Ruby said quietly. "Every death was identical. Bodies split in half. Heads severed and taken. No fingerprints. No traces. They vanish like ghosts."
Selena scoffed internally. Then how did you get all this information?
"Ma'am," she asked flatly, "how did you gather this much detail?"
Ruby nodded. "Soldier Myung-Dae and Spy Helena had hidden cameras in their glasses. Their footage confirmed the same killer."
"May I see the video?" Selena asked.
Ruby handed her the tablet.
The moment the screen lit up—
Selena froze.
