Two days after returning to New York, Ethan Voss received a report from Bullseye. The operation in Hell's Kitchen was nearly complete. Organized crime in the district had been dismantled with ruthless efficiency.
More than six thousand newly arrested gang members had already been transferred into the newly expanded Nahaide Prison. Among them were more than a dozen major gang leaders, including Wilson Fisk himself. The crackdown had proven one thing clearly: criminals should never try to fight against the authorities. Once the government truly committed its resources, the gangs were doomed from the start.
With Hell's Kitchen cleaned up, the safety situation across New York City improved dramatically. The collapse of several criminal networks caused numerous unsolved cases to reopen. Many suspects who had hidden in the shadows were suddenly exposed.
In the middle of that chaotic aftermath, Bullseye's team finally located their long-sought target.
The Purple Man.
Late that night, Ethan and Bullseye arrived outside a luxury apartment building. The area was quiet, but the security perimeter had already been sealed by Bullseye's people.
Bullseye glanced up toward the building as he gave his report. "Boss, the target is in room 907 on the ninth floor. The surrounding area has already been secured."
He hesitated briefly before continuing. "There's something else."
Ethan raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"
"The target returned not long ago," Bullseye said. "And he brought back Target Number Three."
Target Number Three.
Ethan immediately understood what that meant. Bullseye had created numerical designations for every individual they were monitoring, making surveillance easier to manage.
Target Number Three referred to Jessica Jones.
A realization flashed through Ethan's mind instantly. Today was the beginning of the tragedy that defined Jessica's past.
The Purple Man possessed a terrifying ability. By making physical contact with someone's skin, he could release pheromones that allowed him to control people through spoken commands. Anyone affected by his power became completely obedient.
In the original timeline, he had enslaved Jessica and forced her to endure a nightmare of manipulation and humiliation. It was not difficult to imagine what happened when a young woman fell under the control of such a monster.
Even after Jessica eventually escaped his influence, the psychological scars remained. The mere thought of him filled her with overwhelming fear.
When the elevator reached the ninth floor, the doors slid open with a quiet ding. From the hallway, room 907 was immediately visible at the end of the corridor.
Two large bodyguards stood outside the door. The moment they noticed Ethan and Bullseye approaching, their expressions became tense.
The Purple Man's control abilities were extremely powerful. Even when victims moved far away from him, the influence could remain for months.
He often selected wealthy families as his targets. After gaining control of one member, he would gradually dominate the entire household. Then he lived like a parasite among them, draining their wealth and resources.
Everyone in the household became both servant and bodyguard.
If anyone attempted to confront him, the controlled family members would fight desperately to protect him. Their loyalty ensured that he always had time to escape.
The two men guarding the door were clearly victims of the same manipulation.
Ethan walked forward without hesitation.
Suddenly, two small wooden spheres shot past him through the air.
The projectiles flew with incredible speed and accuracy. Each one struck a bodyguard directly in the forehead with precise force, knocking both men unconscious instantly.
Bullseye moved like a shadow. Before their bodies could hit the floor, he caught them silently and lowered them down without making a sound.
After laying the guards aside, Bullseye positioned himself beside the door.
"Open it," Ethan said calmly.
Bullseye didn't bother with subtlety. He drove his foot forward with a powerful kick.
Boom.
The thick metal door burst open violently.
Inside the dim apartment, soft lighting illuminated a lavish living room. On a large leather sofa sat the Purple Man himself, leisurely sipping from a glass of expensive red wine.
In front of him, Jessica Jones sat half-naked on the floor.
Her eyes were empty, her expression blank as she stared forward without awareness.
The loud crash made both of them turn toward the door.
Standing in the entrance, Ethan's tall figure was silhouetted by the hallway lights behind him. The glow framed his body like a radiant outline, making him appear almost like a figure stepping out of the darkness itself.
A flicker of surprise appeared in the Purple Man's eyes.
Before he could react, two flashes of silver light cut through the air.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Only when the unbearable pain struck did he realize what had happened. Two throwing knives had pinned his hands directly to the sofa.
Shock instantly transformed into fear.
Ethan walked calmly across the room and stopped beside Jessica. After a quick glance, he confirmed that he had arrived just in time.
The Purple Man clenched his teeth and struggled against the knives, trying to speak. Ethan raised a hand to silence him.
"Release her immediately."
The villain's face twisted with rage as he prepared to answer.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Two more knives shot forward, embedding themselves into his thigh.
"Ah!" he screamed, barely managing to endure the pain.
"You don't need to say anything," Ethan said calmly. A faint smile even appeared on his face.
The Purple Man continued groaning softly as blood soaked the sofa beneath him. Ethan watched him for a moment before speaking again.
"You still have a lot more to lose."
The Purple Man glared at him with burning hatred. After a long moment of silence, he finally turned his head toward Jessica.
"You're free now."
The fog clouding Jessica's mind slowly lifted. As her awareness returned, she saw the horrifying scene in front of her and instantly scrambled backward.
She retreated into a corner, curling into herself as fear overwhelmed her.
Ethan walked into the nearby room and grabbed a shirt from the closet. He returned and gently draped it over her shoulders.
"Jessica," he said quietly, "we've met before. Don't worry. I'm the one who saved you."
Jessica gradually calmed down, though her body still trembled. The short time she had spent under the Purple Man's control had already left deep psychological scars.
The feeling of being manipulated like a puppet was something no one could easily forget.
Ethan gently patted her shoulder. "Don't be afraid. I'll have someone take you home."
Jessica looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears. "I… I'm scared."
Every movement she made revealed how fragile her emotional state had become.
Ethan thought for a moment before asking, "Do you know about the Justice League?"
Jessica nodded slowly. She had seen reports about them on television. It was a newly formed superhero organization that had saved New York only days earlier.
"I'll take you to the Justice League headquarters," Ethan said. "It's also my territory. There's probably no safer place in the world."
Bullseye escorted Jessica downstairs.
Meanwhile, Ethan opened a portal and dragged the terrified Purple Man directly into the divine realm.
Outside the building, several vehicles were already waiting.
As Ethan stepped out of the apartment entrance, Bullseye suddenly signaled to him from a distance with a quick hand gesture.
Assassin.
Dark figures were moving across the surrounding rooftops.
A sharp whistle cut through the night air.
From the alleyways nearby, more than a dozen shadowy figures suddenly rushed forward.
At Bullseye's command, several enhanced soldiers immediately charged into combat.
Bullseye himself moved toward Ethan, intending to escort him into the car.
Ethan pushed him aside with mild annoyance. "Do I look like I need your protection? Go fight. Don't slack off."
Bullseye shrugged and sprinted toward the area with the heaviest resistance.
Ethan calmly walked to the waiting vehicle. Just as he opened the door, he sensed a sudden gust of wind approaching from behind.
A faint smile appeared on his lips.
Bold.
Along with the rushing wind came a delicate fragrance.
His heart skipped slightly.
A woman.
The attacker behind him immediately realized something was wrong the moment she reached striking distance. An invisible wall surrounded Ethan like an impenetrable fortress.
The moment Ethan felt the solid body behind him, his powerful telekinesis activated instantly.
The woman froze in mid-motion as his mental force seized control of her.
He casually pulled her forward and seated himself in the car while holding her firmly against him.
Only after settling into the seat did he begin examining her properly.
She had a beautiful face, full lips, and a tall athletic figure. Her red, skin-tight outfit clung to every curve, making her look more like a dancer than an assassin.
Ethan immediately recognized her.
Elektra Natchios.
A deadly assassin. Former member of the Hand. Daredevil's former lover.
Under Ethan's overwhelming telekinetic control, however, she could not move at all.
He gently brushed a strand of hair away from her forehead and asked with a teasing smile, "So tell me. Did the Hand and the Society send you to kill me this time?"
Or was it your ex-boyfriend?
Or perhaps you accepted the job from someone else?
Elektra's face had already turned bright red from the humiliating position she was trapped in while sitting across Ethan's lap.
She clenched her teeth angrily. "Let me go. I'm going to kill you."
A hint of amusement flashed in Ethan's eyes.
"How about this," he said calmly. "I'll release half of my control."
The moment he finished speaking, the telekinetic force restraining her suddenly weakened.
Elektra noticed immediately and began struggling with all her strength.
Then Ethan leaned close and whispered softly beside her ear.
"You'd better not struggle."
Because the more you struggle…
The more excited I get.
Elektra froze instantly, her eyes blazing with fury.
