Chapter 113 - CH.113

When Thanos arrived in the Twin Suns System, the war had already reached its most brutal stage.

The battlefield stretched across millions of kilometers of space. Explosions continuously lit up the darkness while shattered warships drifted between burning debris fields and collapsing defensive lines.

At the edge of the star system, the remaining forces under Thanos had gathered into a final defensive formation.

The Black Order.

Hela.

Laufey.

The Ancient One.

Every one of them carried visible injuries.

Even through holographic projections, the exhaustion on their faces was obvious.

Corvus Glaive looked especially terrible. His skin was pale gray, his aura weak and unstable, and his body looked like it could collapse at any moment.

Clearly, surviving until now had come at a horrifying cost.

Most alarming of all, the blue soul crystal embedded within his glaive had developed several visible cracks.

That crystal stored his soul and allowed him to resurrect after death.

But now…

It looked like it wouldn't survive many more resurrections.

Beside him, Proxima Midnight remained unusually quiet while carefully supporting his weakened body. The arrogance she normally carried had completely disappeared.

The moment Thanos arrived, everyone immediately projected themselves before him.

The members of the Black Order instantly knelt on one knee.

"My lord," they said together, "you've finally arrived."

Hela, Laufey, and the Ancient One did not kneel, but they still lowered their heads respectfully.

Thanos calmly looked over the group.

"How is the war progressing?"

Corvus Glaive forced himself upright and answered weakly.

"The situation isn't good. The enemy fleet outnumbers ours by nearly ten to one, and they possess divine technologies we've never encountered before."

He paused briefly before continuing with difficulty.

"Most importantly… Hercules is too powerful. None of us are his match."

The moment Hercules's name was mentioned, Hela, Laufey, and the Ancient One all quietly lowered their eyes.

Clearly, every one of them had suffered heavily at his hands.

Seeing their reactions, Thanos remained expressionless.

"Where is Hercules?"

Hercules—Heracles.

One of Zeus's sons.

Among the Alliance of Gods, he was famous not because of his bloodline alone, but because of his terrifying combat strength.

Before Corvus Glaive could answer, the entire flagship suddenly trembled violently.

Red emergency lights immediately flooded the command bridge.

Alarms blared in every direction.

A subordinate quickly shouted from nearby.

"Sir! The flagship has been hit! Energy reserves have dropped by thirty-four percent!"

Upon hearing the report, Ebony Maw immediately spoke in a grave voice.

"My lord, the Alliance of Gods must have launched another large-scale assault."

Thanos turned slightly and looked toward Ebony Maw.

The alien strategist's blue face looked even worse than Corvus Glaive's condition. His energy fluctuations had become extremely unstable, almost as if he were on the verge of death.

But Thanos remembered clearly that Ebony Maw pursued death almost obsessively. If he recalled correctly, the man also possessed a strange ability related to resurrection after death.

So Thanos didn't care too much about his condition.

Instead, the Space Stone flashed.

In the next instant, he vanished.

Outside the flagship, the situation became immediately clear.

The battlefield had already collapsed into a desperate retreat.

Thanos's remaining fleet had been pushed all the way to the outer edge of the Twin Suns System. Every planet, moon, and strategic station deeper inside the system had already fallen into enemy hands.

If they lost this final foothold, they would have no choice but to retreat completely into neighboring star systems.

And once they retreated…

Recapturing the Twin Suns System later would become incredibly difficult.

Yet even while facing overwhelming odds, Thanos simply stared coldly at the endless enemy fleet surrounding the system.

Warships filled the darkness like a sea of metal.

Countless energy signatures layered across space.

The Alliance of Gods clearly intended to bury him through sheer numbers.

Thanos merely smiled.

Then he tightly gripped the Tyrant Blade.

World-destroying energy surged violently through his body.

With a single swing—

A massive dark-purple slash erupted outward.

The energy wave crossed millions of kilometers almost instantly, moving at nearly light speed before smashing directly into the Alliance fleet's forward line.

Enemy warships immediately activated their shields.

It didn't matter.

The first flagship's defenses shattered in less than a second.

The enormous warship split cleanly in half.

Then the remaining energy continued traveling deeper into space, tearing through several smaller vessels before finally disappearing into the darkness beyond.

Despite the Alliance possessing over nine million warships, those ships still occupied only a tiny region of the enormous star system.

And unlike ordinary armies, the Alliance fleet wasn't going to sit still and absorb attacks.

The next second, countless beams of energy fired toward Thanos simultaneously.

Without hesitation, he clenched his left fist.

Space rippled.

His figure vanished instantly.

A moment later, he reappeared directly beside another enemy warship.

The Tyrant Blade rose.

Then fell.

Boom!

Explosions erupted across the vessel as the ship was sliced apart from bow to stern.

Before the debris could even finish scattering, the Space Stone activated again.

Thanos teleported beside another warship.

Then another.

And another.

Every two or three seconds, another massive vessel exploded.

Within only a few minutes, over one hundred enemy warships had been destroyed.

But compared to the Alliance's total numbers, those losses meant almost nothing.

More importantly…

Not a single high-level god had appeared to challenge him.

The enemy was clearly trying to exhaust his energy first.

After realizing this, Thanos immediately changed tactics.

Soon, he teleported beside a heavily armored capital ship and activated the Mind Stone.

Yellow light spread instantly throughout the vessel.

Every living being aboard the ship immediately fell under his control.

Crew members mechanically turned toward their own controls and attempted to redirect the ship's weapons toward allied vessels nearby.

Unfortunately, the plan failed almost immediately.

The Mind Stone could dominate living minds.

But it could not directly override advanced artificial intelligence systems.

The ship's friend-or-foe identification protocols blocked every firing command.

Only authorization from the Protoss command network could disable those restrictions.

In other words, hijacking enemy fleets and forcing them to kill each other was impossible.

After confirming that, Thanos casually destroyed the warship as well.

He then turned and looked across the seemingly endless enemy fleet surrounding the star system.

For a brief moment, he considered releasing his full power and simply annihilating the entire Twin Suns System completely.

But then—

A new idea appeared in his mind.

The next instant, he abandoned the plan entirely.

Instead, he continued destroying enemy warships methodically one by one.

At the same time, he ordered all remaining allied forces to gradually withdraw from the Twin Suns System.

Naturally, this wasn't because he intended to abandon the territory.

Rather…

He had suddenly thought of the perfect way to complete Death's mission.

If the Alliance of Gods wanted to exhaust him through attrition…

Then why not let them exhaust the Void Sentinels instead?

Wouldn't that solve everything at once?

Four days passed quickly.

During those four days, Thanos deliberately conserved his strength while continuing to slowly destroy enemy warships.

He only destroyed around fifty to sixty thousand vessels total.

Enough to hurt.

But not enough to make the Alliance abandon the siege.

Unfortunately, he underestimated the Alliance of Gods' resources.

Additional fleets continuously arrived from other star systems to reinforce the battlefield.

The encirclement only grew larger.

Meanwhile, deep within the opposite side of the Twin Suns System—

Inside an enormous golden flagship, Hercules sat leisurely among a gathering of gods while casually drinking wine.

Outside the ship, millions of soldiers continued dying under Thanos's relentless attacks.

Inside, however, the atmosphere remained completely relaxed.

"Haha! Let's see how long that purple monster can keep fighting!"

"Exactly. Sooner or later his energy will run dry. Once that happens, he'll be completely at our mercy."

"Congratulations, Lord Hercules. Another powerful enemy is about to fall beneath your feet."

Hercules smiled proudly as the surrounding gods flattered him endlessly.

Then he raised his wine glass and drained it in one gulp.

A moment later, he grabbed the goddess sitting beside him and pulled her directly into his arms without restraint.

In that regard…

He truly had inherited quite a bit from his father Zeus.
