King Kai suddenly stiffened.
He had clearly sensed the aura Gohan released while using Elementary Ultra Ego.
"Wh-What's going on? Why is Gohan's aura so similar to his…?"
"His?" Goku, who had been training nearby, immediately walked over.
"King Kai, who are you talking about?"
"…Lord Beerus."
"Beerus?"

"At least one or two hundred million years old."

"That's right. Saiyans like you only live for a little over a hundred years. That's not even a fraction of his lifespan."
Goku scratched his head and laughed.
"Then where is he sleeping?"
"I'm not telling you!"
"Come on, King Kai!" Goku put on an overly friendly smile.
"Even if I told you, you couldn't reach him. That place is unbelievably far away. Even Instant Transmission wouldn't work."
Universe 7 — God of Destruction Realm
In a vast and serene realm, a tall figure stood quietly.
Blue-green skin. Long white curled hair. Purple pupils and lips.
He held a staff lightly in one hand.
This was Whis, the Angel of Universe 7.
He gazed toward the North Galaxy.
"That aura just now…"
Although it was far from true Destruction energy, it still carried a resemblance.
A human emitting such an aura was… unusual.
"Gohan…" Whis smiled faintly and slowly looked away.
One Year Later
Trunks finally gathered enough energy to activate the Time Machine.
West City — Goku's House
Trunks stood before everyone, preparing to depart.
"Gohan… thank you. These past two years—if it weren't for you, my strength would never have grown this fast."
"It's nothing." Gohan smiled calmly.
"When you return to the future and deal with Android 17 and Android 18, don't stop training. I'll guard the present. You guard the future."
Trunks' eyes trembled, "I understand."
In his heart, he remembered the Gohan from his future timeline—the one who had died in battle.
"Well then… Uncle Goku. Everyone. I'm leaving."
Krillin and the others nodded.
"The future is in your hands, Trunks," Krillin said.
"I won't let you down, Uncle Krillin."
With tears in his eyes, Trunks boarded the Time Machine and waved goodbye.
Whoosh—
The machine vanished.
Future Timeline — Earth
Ruins stretched as far as the eye could see.
Nothing had changed.
Trunks emerged from the Time Machine and rushed home.
"Trunks!" Future Bulma ran to him and hugged him tightly.
"Mom!"
After a long moment, she pulled back.
"Where have you been for the past two years?!"
Trunks explained everything—being pulled into the past, training, growing stronger.
"…A man in black clothes?"
"Yes! Thanks to him, I was able to train in the past. My current strength far surpasses Android 17 and Android 18!"
"I see…" Bulma nodded. "Then… you're going now?"
"Yes I'll eliminate them."
"Be careful."
Trunks nodded and left.
After he was gone, Future Bulma whispered softly,
"…The man in black clothes."
She had met him too.
He told her Trunks was safe—and asked her not to tell Trunks they had ever met.
Future Timeline — Ruined City
Screams echoed.
Two androids—one male, one female—were slaughtering survivors.
Android 17 and Android 18.
Just then—
A figure appeared.
"Trunks?" Android 17 sneered.
"Long time no see. I thought you'd hide forever."
"Hmph." Trunks' eyes were cold.
"Today, I'm here to eliminate you—for my father, for Brother Gohan, and for every innocent life you've taken."
"Eliminate us?" Android 17 burst into laughter.
"You've learned to joke, huh?"
Trunks clenched his fists.
"You'll find out soon enough whether it's a joke."
"Ha!"
Golden light erupted as Trunks transformed into a Super Saiyan.
He drew his sword and charged forward.
Android 17 rushed to meet him.
Whoosh—
Trunks vanished.
"What?!"
"17, behind you!"
Android 18 shouted.
Too late.
Trunks reappeared behind Android 17, his palm glowing with golden energy.
BOOM!!
The explosion tore through the ruins.
Android 17 was annihilated.
"17?!" Android 18 stared in disbelief.
Trunks looked at her calmly.
