Chapter 9 - Store

"Ha ha ha!"

Rai, like usual, stared at Zade, absolutely pissed off, while Zade laughed, still holding Rai tightly, who had stopped struggling and was now stiff as a board.

"I know you are disgusted. But be kind with those expressions. It pains my heart," Zade said, looking down at Rai's face, who stared ahead above the naked shoulder that was so close to his mouth, making him hold himself back from biting and maybe eating a chunk from the seething anger inside him.

When Zade finally did let go, Rai really wanted to punch him again, but felt it would be too much because he had not gotten punched back yet from Zade, and a second punch right now might end up them both going physical, as he didn't feel like bothering with a fight anymore.

He wanted to take a shower right now. That's all he wanted.

Though it was mostly his shirt that became a victim to Zade, his neck had some onion too, and the oil had smothered around the area, possibly even on his chest.

It felt so uncomfortable.

Rai knew now this was going to be a problem because Zade, the bastard, might try to get in the bathroom first to annoy him again.

And as expected, Zade, upon inspecting Rai's expression as he stared down at himself, knew exactly what he had to do to piss the fuck out of him.

But he decided he had enough fun for now.

Rai must be tired.

Being so angry before.

Even throwing a punch…

Honestly, Zade wasn't even mad.

He was even entertained.

Obviously, he didn't like getting beaten up, but if him ignoring one made Rai look even more pissed, he would gladly take a few more punches from Rai till his patience ran out too.

Honestly, his patience had gotten better.

He wouldn't have been so chill about that punch, and also that punch Rai tried throwing the first time they met, if it was the teenage Zade.

"You go first,"

Zade said, to which Rai tried hiding his surprise but failed, which Zade ignored, because if he started to argue with Rai again now, they might end up doing that for another half an hour.

So he just ignored Rai, who walked out of there quickly and wiped off the onions hanging on him still, even after he tried sharing them with Rai before.

Zade then looked at the ground again.

Onions…

But there wasn't much oil because they were all absorbed by Rai's shirt in the process.

'He even cried for these onions. I didn't think he would throw it like that.'

Zade chuckled to himself, then started cleaning the floor, thinking about the argument they had again.

'He fits perfectly into my arms.'

Zade's mind ran to the moment when Rai stopped struggling, then stared at him like he would kill him.

'That's cute. He can't even fight back. Where did he get the confidence to throw punches at me?'

When Zade was done, he cleaned the counter too, also taking the chance to check if Rai had wrong measuring while cooking today too.

Yeah, he had...

'Dinner for me too...Well, I was supposed to get. Will he give me anymore though?'

Maybe he should have felt bad throwing insults at Rai when he fed him good meals, but he was indeed sick in the head and truly ungrateful.

To Rai, at least, because he had not been such a jerk in a long time, to anyone literally.

"Will you at least get lost now?"

Rai came back and asked coldly, though feeling better than when he left.

"I was planning to actually."

Zade grinned like he had not just made Rai go crazy at all and left straight to the washroom.

It was easier for him since it was just the towel, but Rai had to change both his shirt and shorts because he felt uncomfortable just wiping his neck or chest.

He took a whole shower, now back in some fresh clothes.

But Rai was left surprised when he saw the clean floor and counter, because he was in agony thinking about cleaning, since as much as he loved cooking, he disliked cleaning. But it wasn't something he could avoid, so he did it all the time.

'It's really clean.'

Rai saw even the pan was cleaned and the burnt onions were properly thrown away.

'I was trying to cook them a bit to go with the chicken, but it's not that necessary…'

Rai decided he wouldn't go through the trouble of cutting more onions, so he worked on another side dish to go with the rice, which he made extra spicy because he was feeling very generous now.

"Do I still get your leftovers?"

Zade came back to the kitchen after some time, with just a goddamn towel... again.

"Yeah. What else am I supposed to do? Throw them away?"

Rai asked sarcastically, but he had an answer actually.

Keep them for tomorrow.

Duh!

But he just wanted to be the bigger person and kill his enemies with kindness, which wasn't really that effective with Zade though...

Whatever...

"Yeah. You definitely shouldn't throw them away. Especially at people."

Zade left the kitchen soon but came back again, thankfully clothed, in pajamas this time.

And with something in his hand.

Again, a grocery bag...

But this time it wasn't so big like yesterday.

Or whatever was inside it…

"Accidentally bought extra. I'm greedy as fuck and don't want to throw it away."

He pushed it into Rai's hand and walked into the living room, laying on the sofa with phone in hand, as Rai sneaked into his room to check what it was this time.

'…It's the same brand. Where does he buy all this? I couldn't find them anywhere!'

Rai stared at the jelly cup in his hand, literally in awe, even though this was just jelly.

Except… it's his favourite.

'I must find out this store.'

Rai would have asked Zade straight like a normal person would, but he wasn't normal about Zade, so he kept it in his mind to find out stores around the hospital he worked at.

'He must get them from there, right?'

Rai put the jelly cup in the cupboard next to the other leftover two chip bags he saved for later, till he could restock a better amount after finding the store these were from.

'I bet Lia knows the stores around that area. I should ask her.'

Rai told himself and went back to the kitchen to have his dinner, which he always took before 7:30, being used to it, ignoring Zade's eyes following him.

"You are having dinner this early?"

"…Yeah."

"Okay."

Zade went back to his phone after Rai flatly answered. Rai then slowly ate, planning tomorrow's activities in his head till he finished everything on the plate.

He then went back to his room, did another run to the bathroom to brush his teeth an hour later, and went to bed at 8:45, finally succeeding at getting back to his usual routine since coming here, as he always slept around 8:30 if he didn't have schoolwork to do.

It felt nice to be on routine again.

But not so nice thinking about his housemate...

'Absolute worst nightmares to the fucker tonight. I shouldn't have wished less yesterday… I shouldn't any day!'
