Rai's eyelids fluttered, heavy and swollen from heat, tears, and exhaustion. The air in the room remained thick, smelling heavily of spent sweat, and sex.
He was sore in places he didn't even know could ache, his lower back feeling as though it had been snapped in half and haphazardly put back together.
Slowly, Rai shifted on his side, burying half his face into the ruined pillow, and leveled a dark, lethal glare at the man lying beside him.
Zade didn't look bothered in the slightest. He lay sprawled on his back, his chest rising and falling in steady, deep rhythms, his broad shoulders relaxed against the damp sheets.
Catching the murderous look thrown his way, a low, breathy chuckle rumbled from deep within Zade's throat.
"Yeah, I am sorry if I disbelieved you," Zade said, his raspy voice carrying a light, teasing lilt. He turned his head on the pillow, dark eyes gleaming with lingering satisfaction. "You are perfect."
