Chapter 1 - prologue 1

We underestimate death — until the second-to-last breath.

I think many people know the theory of the existence of Hell and Heaven. They were created by Hades and Zeus. Two brothers. One world of calm and carelessness, and another of suffering and horror.

Those who want to believe — believe.

Those who don't — don't.

I have no opinion.

Prologue 1

This theory is very popular — probably the most popular one after Christopher Langan's theory.

(I do not support any of these theories, nor do I seek to destroy them. I simply wanted to try creating my own story about how Hell came to be.)

4 — a theory of the creation of Hell.

(Told from the perspective of Kyo Shinyu.)

Prologue 1: Love or Hatred

We underestimate life — until the second-to-last breath.

Above Kyo stood his angel and his devil: love and hatred, calm and fear — Aika.

These words hammered into his mind like his mother's name. The silhouette, no taller than 170 centimeters, had no intention of stopping.

We underestimate life — until the second-to-last exhale.

Again — a rough, uneven cut of skin by a knife.

— Seventeenth strike, — Kyo said through clenched teeth.

We underestimate…

She suddenly stopped. Her heart seemed to melt; the terrifying smile vanished, replaced by sincere compassion.

She turned around and finally saw Kyo. Seventeen wounds spreading outward from the center. The cuts resembled a star.

Both of their vision darkened. Their pupils vanished. Kyo's body died, and he tried to catch at least a single good memory from after childhood — but the thread snapped at its peak.

— Weakling… — Kyo whispered, too softly to be louder.

His pupils lost focus. His jaw slackened. No breathing could be heard.

The girl rushed to him, wrapped her arms around his body, and burst into tears. Her sobs soaked into Kyo's clothes.

But Kyo no longer saw an angel in her — only a devil.

Not love — hatred.

Not calm — fear.

— Kyo, forgive me! Forgive me! — her mouth overflowed with saliva, and her tears poured like an ocean.

His eyes closed. His arms and legs failed him. His mind faded away.

His shirt was soaked with her tears and saliva.

— A strange sensation… — Kyo said, barely lifting his hand toward her face. — Death is surprisingly fascinating.

His hand touched her face. Aika spat, wiped her tears with a cloth, touched his hand, closed his eyes, and gave him his final kiss.

"Death."

"What comes after death?"

When daily life surrounds you, thinking about it feels… foolish.

But in the moment of dying — there's no time for that. You have to flip through all your memories, both good and bad.

But now, Kyo wasn't thinking about anything.

Because beside him was the person he loved most — closer than anyone could ever be.

"Even though she is the one who killed me."

Kyo was drifting in the world of consciousness, in a world of bliss, and in a world… beyond life.
