The variegated carp thrown on shore wasn't dead yet; it twisted its body back and forth, its strong tail beating against the surrounding gravel making "thud thud" sounds, the slime on its body covered in dust and dry leaves, its mouth opening and closing continuously as if wanting to gulp some air, desperately wanting to return to the water.
