Chapter 188: The Flying Raijin Jutsu
Watching the black kunai drift closer through the stasis field, the Ant King's
eyes narrowed until they were thin slits of intense focus.
He had no other options.
The "Slow Zone" created by Ronin's left eye was a spatial trap. If the King
allowed the blade to drift through the field and exit the other side, it would
regain its full velocity instantly and strike him before he could reset his
guard.
And that kunai was wrong. Every instinct in the King's refined biological
computer told him that the blade was a beacon of death.
Retreat was impossible. The space behind him was just as rigid and frozen as the
air in front.
He could try to attack the stasis field itself, but that would be a waste of
energy. To break the lock, he had to interact with the world, which meant
dropping his "Limitless" barrier.
The fire added a final, frantic countdown. The heat had already penetrated the
Slow Zone, cooking the air inside the bubble. If he waited, he would be steamed
alive in his own shell.
Ronin had engineered a perfect checkmate. One move. One outcome.
Fine then, the King thought, his pride surging. He reached out with a
lightning-fast hand to snatch the kunai from the air.
The moment his fingers neared the blade, the "Limitless" paradox surrounding him
deactivated. He was now tangible. He was interacting with the object.
In that exact heartbeat, the stasis field vanished.
And so did Ronin.
He didn't run. He didn't jump. He simply ceased to exist in his previous
coordinates and materialized instantly in the space where the kunai was.
The Rasengan in his right hand hummed with a sound that tore at the King's
eardrums.
The fire had served its purpose—a shroud of smoke and heat that obscured the
King's vision. But it couldn't hide the truth from the Mangekyō Sharingan. Ronin
saw the King's Nen shift. He saw the barrier drop. He saw the reach.
The "Shinobi Love" charm on the kunai flared blue.
Flying Raijin!
Position and momentum shifted in zero time. The maximum-output Rasengan, fueled
by the stored reserves of the Yin Seal, slammed into the King's chest.
The King had realized the kunai was a marker, but he never expected the intruder
to bridge the gap with an instantaneous spatial jump.
BOOM!
The King's exoskeleton offered no protection against the spiraling vortex of
Chakra. The impact drove him straight into the cavern floor.
The stone shattered. Blood geysered from the King's mouth as his sternum caved
in. A massive shockwave rippled through the sub-level, sending a cloud of dust
and debris hundreds of feet into the air.
Ronin had put everything into this strike. It wasn't the "standard" version; it
was a pure, high-density energy dump. The spiraling friction of the Rasengan
ground into the King's organs, shredding tissue and bone until the internal
structure was a pulp.
As the energy fully discharged, the King's eyes rolled back. He lay in the
center of the crater, his status flickering between "Dying" and "Gone."
In the distance, the Monkey-Ant saw its King fall.
It went into a state of total, primal hysteria. A Royal Guard's purpose is to
protect the King at the cost of its own life. It is an instinct etched into the
very marrow of their bones.
The Monkey-Ant abandoned the fight with the Hunters. It ignored the spears and
Nen bullets raining down on it. It exploded into a blur of motion, racing toward
the crater.
But Vanessa was waiting in the shadows.
She didn't aim for a kill. She knew she couldn't end a Guard in one strike.
Instead, as the Monkey blurred past her hiding spot, she rose from its shadow.
Her dagger, wreathed in concentrated aura, slashed horizontally across the
Guard's ankles.
The Nen-blade bit deep, severing muscle, tendon, and bone.
The Monkey-Ant's left foot flew into the air, spinning like a top.
The squad stared in shock. The Monkey-Ant didn't stop. It didn't even scream. It
simply used the jagged bone stump of its shin to vault off the ground,
continuing its frantic, uneven charge toward the King.
Mashur's Destructo Disc whizzed through the air, aimed at the Guard's head, but
the Monkey's irregular, hobbling gait caused the disc to miss by a fraction of
an inch.
Colin's follow-up spear struck the ground where the Guard had been a millisecond
before.
Vanessa tried to submerge back into the shadow, but the Monkey was moving with
the momentum of a falling comet. Its shadow was moving too fast for her to
catch.
For a moment, it looked like the Guard would reach the crater.
But it hit a wall.
The Four Violet Flames Formation.
The crippled Monkey-Ant slammed into the purple barrier. The cursed flames
ignited its fur and skin instantly.
Still, the monster didn't stop. It began to hammer its fists against the purple
wall, ignoring the fire consuming its body.
Crack...
Under the Guard's frantic, desperate strength, the barrier—maintained by Ronin's
Shadow Clones—began to spiderweb with cracks.
But inside the cage, the execution was already finished.
Ronin stood over the broken remains of the Ant King. He had dragged the mangled
creature out of the dirt.
The King's "Interception" aura was dead. His heart had been obliterated, and
half his skull was missing—the result of a series of follow-up strikes Ronin had
delivered the moment they hit the ground.
Ronin wasn't an amateur. He didn't walk away to admire the explosion; he
finished the job until the life signature was zero.
He was weak, Ronin analyzed, looking at the tiny, "Budget" King.
Despite the powerful Hatsu, this King lacked the divine biological foundation of
Meruem. He was a prototype, born too early and fed on a restricted diet.
Still, the fact that a prototype had forced Ronin to use the Yin Seal proved
just how dangerous the species was.
Ronin felt a sharp ache in his left eye. His vision in that socket was blurred
and hazy. The strain of consecutive stasis locks and the Flying Raijin jump was
taking its toll.
I need to be careful. I'm only a few more "God-tier" moves away from permanent
damage.
He looked at the burning Monkey-Ant hammering on the barrier.
A thought occurred to him. The Guard's devotion is absolute. If I kill him now,
he will definitely trigger Post-Mortem Nen.
He looked at the King's corpse in his hand. He had already applied a Sealing
Formula to the body, locking the King's lingering aura behind a Chakra barrier.
The Head is bottled. Now, let's see if the legs have enough spite to haunt me.
