"Ding. One Good Deed A Day System has activated."
Hearing this, Zhang Ji froze. He had no idea what was happening.
The next moment, a small panel popped up in front of Zhang Ji.
Name: Zhang Ji
Cultivation: None (max: Body Tempering first level peak stage)
Techniques: Golden Dragon body tempering art(uninitiated)
Good Deed Points:0
Quests: None
Task of the day: Help an old lady cross the street
Seeing the panel, Zhang Ji immediately became vigilant. He rapidly looked around him and made sure that no one else was still here. After not detecting anyone, he focused his attention back on the panel.
'What is this thing?' Zhang Ji silently mused.
Cautiously, Zhang Ji tried to touch this panel, but his hands simply went through it. No matter how hard he tried to do anything to the panel, he was unable to affect it at all.
'System, system. Now, where have I heard that name before.' Zhang Ji tried to remember.
Suddenly, a long lost memory surfaced in Zhang Ji's mind. A long time ago, when he was still weak and pathetic, he would often read stories to imagine that his life could be better. It was his only escape when recovering from beatings. A system was something that showed up in some of those stories quite a lot.
"So, is this thing a system?" Zhang Ji mused. "Did this thing bring me back to my youth. According to those stories, systems can do all sorts of stuff."
But other than a little amusement, Zhang Ji felt nothing else. He was the demon emperor. He did not need anything like a system to make the entire universe tremble. If it could help, he would use it. If not, he would throw it away.
"But how does this thing even work?" ZHnag Ji wondered. "Wait, it said something when it popped up. What was it? Some deed a day or something?"
The moment this thought came up, a new panel popped up on top of the old one.
Welcome user, to the One Good Deed A Day System. This system is a reward given for you, who have lived an exemplary life of kindness and compassion
You, who vowed to do at least one act of kindness a day.

You, whose compassion and selflessness moved even Buddha.
To help you in your path forward, this system will help you.
All you ned to do is to continue being your gentle and selfless self. As you commit acts of kindness, the goodness energy from those shall be converted into your strength.
You can use the system to improve your cutiation, learn techniques and even more.
Go forth young man, and show the world the greatest humanitarian who ever lived.
Zhang Ji's jaws fell open as he read the text on the new panel. Frozen in shock, he read the text again. And then a third time. And then five more times after that.
Finally, with a listless face, he looked up to the sky.
After a few breaths, he calmed down. He finally figured out what had happened.
It was a case of postal error.
But he had no thought of reporting it. Who knows if Zhang Ji would be sent back to the time of his death if he gave the system back? And it wasnt as if he needed the system anyway.
But Zhang Ji was still a little bit interested in the system. After all, with his age nd experience, there were very few things that could surprise him.
With a thought, Zhang Ji dismissed the second panel. Then he turned his attention back to the first panel.
Zhang Ji quickly found that focusing on some of the parts of the panel could open up other panels that could be used to give a detailed explanation of those sections. There was a secondary panel for quests, which was empty, and a secondary panel for Techniques.
Techniques:
Golden Dragon body tempering art(uninitiated): A simple and basic body tempering art that is barely not flawed, which can help one get started on the path of cultivation.
Seeing this description, Zhang Ji could not help but nod. The Golden Dragon body tempering art, which everyone in the city considered to be an exceptional cultivation technique, was barely enough to be considered as a cultivation technique in Zhang Ji's opinion.
"This technique should instead be called the yellow lizard body wiggling art." Zhang Ji muttered.
But when he finally came to the Task of the Day section, he was shocked once again.
Task of the day:
Help an old lady cross the street: Help a helpless old lady cross a busy street
Reward:10 good deed points
Penalty:20 good deed points
Zhang Ji just stared at the panel for a while before bursting into laughter. He, the great and terrible demon emperor, was being asked to help an old lady cross the street. This was one of the funniest things he had ever heard of.
After laughing for a while, he ignored the system. He just wouldn't use such a ridiculous system and instead would use his talent, knowledge and ruthlessness to go forth. Just as he had always done.
But now that he had accepted his current situation, he had an important matter to decide.
His current situation was very bad. A quick look at the date, and it should be around two months after he joined the Golden Dragon Dojo.
There would be another test in a month. If one was unable to reach the first realm of body tempering by then, one would be kicked out of the dojo. In his first life, due to the beatings and having to do the task of the other three in the room, he had failed to reach the first step of body tempering and was kicked out of the dojo.
Without any backing or anyone to help him, and having to take care of his mother, Zhang Ji was willing to do anything in order to survive and improve his strength. Years later, he luckily got a chance to rejoin the Golden Dragon Dojo and used his cunning(betraying people) and talent(stealing) to increase his strength.
So Zhnag Ji had to make a choice, whether to stay with the golden dragon dojo or to leave and search for chances elsewhere.
The next thing Zhang Ji needed the most was resources. With the knowledge about the future he held, he could easily make mountains of money, or even join much better forces.
But his current strength did not allow him access to many of these opportunities. And even if he did, he would immediately be killed. Even with the knowledge and experience of the demon emperor, he still had no way to resist a much stronger cultivator.
Staying in the Golden Dragon Dojo also had its advantages. Not only was it a major force in the city, but it also had a behemoth backing it up. Zhang Ji knew many of the secrets of the dojo and could use them to climb up. He even knew the exact date on which the dojo would be destroyed (after all, he was the one who informed the dojo's enemies of its weaknesses). And if he showed exceptional talent, he would be promoted even faster.
After a moment of deliberation, Zhang Ji decided that it was better to stay in the dojo for the meantime. Even though the wars that would plunge the whole world into chaos hadn't yet started (which started because he leaked some sensitive information), it was by no means peaceful outside.
Once Zhang Ji settled on his plans, it was time to implement them. But there was one major obstacle. The other three idiots in the room. As long as they interfered with his actions, he would be unable to peacefully cultivate.
Just then, the door to the room opened, and the other three walked in.
"What bad luck. I lost so much money betting on that bastard Li. Why couldnt he even defeat a woman? Useless bastard." The fat youth yelled as he walked in. But when he saw Zhang Ji sitting on his bed, he stopped. "What are you still doing here. Didn't I tell you to go and do my chores?" The fat youth asked.
Zhang Ji did not respond. He simply stared back at him as if looking at a dead man.
"Senior Huang, maybe you hit him too hard, and he turned into an idiot." One of the lackeys spoke up.
"How can that be. He was already an idiot." The other one immediately responded.
Hearing this, the fat youth chuckled and turned to ZHnag Ji.
"Whatever. Go and do my tasks." The fat youth said.
"No." Zhnag Ji replied.
"That's right. You should go now and, wait, what?" The fat youth was shocked by Zhang Ji's reply.
"Did you not hear me, you idiot. I am not handing in your tasks anymore. You can go and do it yourself." Zhang Ji replied.
Hearing this they fat youth was enraged. "Good, good. It seemed as if the recent lessons weren't enough. You need me to properly teach you your place once again." He yelled as he charged towards Zhang Ji.
The fat youth had reason to be arrogant. His cultivation had already reached the middle stage of the first level. Compared to Zhang Ji, who still hadnt even gotten started, it was a world of difference. Even though it was simply piled up with resources.
But battles are not won by cultivation level alone. And when it came to the demon emperor, it was never the case.
When he saw the fat youth rushing towards him, Zhang Ji's eyes narrowed. He could tell the difference in their cultivation levels. But he could easily handle an inexperienced fat youth. The earlier situation of him getting beaten up was only because he was just a bit too unprepared.
If he were weaker than the other party, he just had to dodge.
If he were slower than the other party, he just had to move first.
And to defeat the other party, he just had to hit the other party's weak points. Being extremely familiar with the golden dragon body tempering art, he knew exactly where its weaknesses lay.
So Zhang Ji took a step back and slightly tilted his body. And then his right leg lashed out at full speed.
A second later, there was a small thud. And then everyone came to a stop.
The fat youth had come to a full stop in a lunging punching posture, his fist just a few inches to the right of Zhang Ji's face. Zhang Ji slowly retracted his leg and then took two more steps back, and they looked coldly at the fat youth.
The other two lackeys stood there frozen, not believing what they were seeing. Droplets of sweat dripped down the fat youth's forehead.
A deafening silence filled the room.
Then the fat youth slowly fell. First to his knees. Then completely on the floor. As he did, his head hit against a bed, but he paid it no mind.
The next moment, a bloodcurdling scream that made any man who heard it cross his legs echoed throughout the building.
