The problems start the day after I slap Chase. Small things at first, easy to dismiss as normal production issues. A lighting rig malfunctions during our most emotional scene, forcing us to reset and lose the momentum Philippe had been building. The catering company cancels our contract without explanation, leaving the crew without food. Permits for our outdoor location shoot get mysteriously revoked, forcing expensive last-minute changes.
"Just bad luck," Philippe says, frustrated but not yet suspicious. "Film productions always hit obstacles. We adapt."
But the obstacles keep coming. Script rewrites arrive from the studio demanding changes to scenes we've already shot, forcing expensive reshoots. Equipment deliveries get delayed or sent to wrong addresses. Insurance paperwork gets "lost" requiring resubmission that costs days of production time.
By the end of week three, we're two weeks behind schedule and hemorrhaging money.
