Minutes passed since Tara tried to cast a larger flame. Will flipped through that book again and realized something.
"This isn't getting anywhere,"
Words flashes into Will's mind as he looked over at Tara. She has been trying to cast a larger flame for about ten minutes or so. Will looked at a page of fire spell and saw a sigil right below.
"Maybe...there's another way..."
Will thought for a while and then asked Tara for a pen and a special ink.
"Dear, do you have a pen and ink for drawing sigil?"
"I think big sis have some, she uses those to practice before her mock exam,"
"Wouldn't mind if you bring it to me,"
Tara went on to grabbed the item. She then returned with a stack of papers too. Will took a piece of paper and draw a small sigil exactly from the book. As Will connect the circumference, the magic work by casting a fire ball just to be extinguished a few seconds later.
"Casting wasn't discovered yet by folks during the ancient times, they discovered an element that could perform magic by simply drawing it,"
Will then started teaching Tara about the ancient time.
"They would create sigil for magic and sigil control how the magic is executed, now, casting is much common that sigil is rarely seen using by people, though it is still used to make our life efficient and it is still used by discoverer,"
Will then pointed to the boiling kettle which Tara quickly went to off the heat.
"Look down below,"
Tara looked at the stove and noticed a sigil carved at the stove. The pattern of the sigil is the same as shown in the book.
"I never thought about it up till now,"
"Now then, try drawing a flame sigil and see what would happen,"
Will placed the book beside Tara so that she could reference it. Tara took in a deep breath and start drawing from the inside till the outside. She didn't look at the book, it seems that she is trying to based it on her memory. Will looked at Tara as she finally finished a sigil that took the whole paper to fit in. As she finished the circumference, the sigil then was lighted blue and huge flame started exploding above it. Tara felled down from her chair and Will swishes his cloak and turned in shadow. He wrapped the flame, devouring it and jumped back down onto the ground.
Tara looked down, frowning. She thought she has failed yet again but Will encourages her instead.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"Not bad,"
"Wha...?"
"To be able to perform such flame, Did you imbue your mana in the sigil?"
"Well, big sis said that imbuing mana into something makes it better and stabilize it,"
"Your sis taught you well,"
Will took that bit burned paper and took a closer look at the sigil. The drawing wasn't perfect and the core was a bit off to one side.
"Your sigil isn't well drawn which led to that wild fire earlier, try practicing on normal pen first till you perfect it, if you feel ready, feel free to try to cast it again,"
"Yes sir!"
Tara instantly lit up and grabbed a pen and started drawing multiple sigil. The mood was brighten up as Will sat on the cushion and made himself a cup of tea. Tara has officially became Will's little apprentice.
Ten minutes has passed as Raye, Al and Amethia has returned to the house.
"We're back!"
"Welcome, don't mind for a cup of tea?"
Will invited them for a cup of tea as Tara returned from feeding her sick mother medicine. Tara continued drawing sigil, perfecting that one spell. A surprised expression appeared on Amethia's face when she saw Tara drawing sigils. Will said nothing and kept sipping his cup of tea.
"When did you started drawing sigil?"
"This morning,"
Amethia looked towards Will but he just kept quiet and poured Amethia a cup and simply said:
"It's better to drink now or it's getting cold later,"
Amethia brushes it off and took a sip out of her cup. Will watches Amethia then Tara happy expression. Over the days, The Everlight did nothing except for strolling the city square for the fifth time and doing quests to earn extra money. Will has been secretly training Tara while Amethia was away. A flame emerged in the air, turning into a phoenix. It flew across Tara's room and flew out of the window just to disappear.
"Congrats dear, you have mastered drawing sigil, now that you have an image on how to cast, you can now cast without drawing sigil,"
Tara spun around in glee, doing a little dance. Will looked at her and then asked her a question.
"Tara, why don't you want your sister to know that you're learning magic?"
"Huh? Didn't I said before? I don't want big sis to worry about me,"
"I don't think she will be worried about you, she probably be more glad that you learn magic,"
"..., Big sis worries too much about us, she probably afraid that something bad happens when she's not around, she always take full responsibility and keep it to herself,"
"..., so learning magic is your way of showing her you are capable of taking on responsibility too?"
"...Yes,"
"Responsibility ain't an easy task you know? Though I get it why you're trying to take some off your sister's shoulder,"
Will patted and rubbed her head as he closed the book that Tara used to learn. He then took out a few piece of copper coins and putted it on Tara's right palm. Tara looked up from the coins to Will and saw a faint smile expressed on Will's face.
"Let's go get you a new book shall we?"
Tara lit up and rushed to get her bag as if she has forgotten about their conversation just earlier. Will's smile faded as his eyeballs tilted to his right. He looked behind and saw nothing but just bushes and trees outside of the window.
