Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Brothel

"Am I still alive?"

Liu Wu-xiao was awakened by the pain. Several pieces of broken wood were pressing down on him, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Then, a jumble of disorganized memories began to flood his mind.

He was one of the Ten Great Divine Emperors of Lingyun, an earthly paradise.

By chance, he came across the Divine Vessel of Devouring Heaven – the Tian Shen Tian Ding.

He was besieged by the entire heavenly realm and ultimately lost his life on the Doom Cliff.

In the final moments, I unleashed the Blood Demon Disintegration Technique and sacrificed myself with them, destroying the Devourer of Gods Cauldron.

When I awoke, I found myself here.

"Zhenwu Continent… Jia Family… Stepson-in-law… Spoiler…"

Memories that surfaced in his mind told him that he had not remained in the Lingyun Celestial Realm but had instead been reborn in a realm known as the True Wu Continent.

This young man's body also goes by the name Liu Wu-xiao.

He comes from a wealthy family.

At the age of five, his family's fortunes changed drastically, and his parents mysteriously disappeared, which led to him developing a narrow and solitary personality from a young age.

After being adopted by his father's close friend and future father-in-law, Xu Yi-lin, his situation did not improve.

As he grew older, his personality became increasingly arrogant and domineering.

He even believed that his adoptive father, who treated him as one of his own, had adopted him with the intention of usurping his family's business.

He lived recklessly and wasted money, becoming a notorious spendthrift in the city of Qinglan.

Throughout the Xie family, everyone uses terms like waste, vermin, and garbage to describe him, yet he continues to act as he pleases.

Before long, it was time for the wedding.

Father-in-law Xu Yilin believed that after getting married, one's personality might mellow out.

And today was the day of his grand wedding.

Logically speaking, someone as worthless as him is certainly unworthy of being the daughter of the Yi family.

This is because Liu Wu-xiao's parents were close friends with Xu Yi-lin, and the two families had long ago entered into a betrothal agreement.

It was agreed that they would get married when Liu Wu-xiao reached the age of eighteen.

On the day of his wedding, he was thrown out of the bridal chamber by the eldest daughter of the Xu family.

Under the instigation of a few close friends, he ventured into a brothel for the first time.

Suddenly, he became enraged, ignited a candle, and caused the entire brothel to collapse. Tragically, he was buried beneath the ruins.

Remove the splintered wood that was pressing down on you, lie flat on the ground, and begin to examine your body.

"Such ruthless tactics.

A single blow to the heart. Had it not been for me intervening, he would have surely died.

Who could have wanted to kill him and set up such a trap?"

Apart from some injuries sustained from the blows, the most fatal wound was a mysterious palm print on his chest.

He vividly remembers that he was drinking with some friends when he lost control, but he has no recollection of the events that followed.

The severed heart pulse has only been temporarily suppressed.

He needs to find a medicine to protect the pulse and reconnect it. Given his skills, crafting such a medicine would not be difficult.

"Fortunately, this is a continent inhabited by practitioners, and martial arts are extremely prevalent here…"

There are various levels of martial artists, categorized as Post-Natal, Pre-Natal, Purification of the Spirit, Purification of the Marrow, True Elixir, and so on.

"This wretched body is an insult to even the term 'waste.'"

The meridians are as thin as fine hair, and the congestion caused by impurities is truly appalling.

"This is quite troublesome. All of my cultivation techniques are divine-level methods from the realm of the gods.

The True Wu Continent is merely a realm of mortals. I must switch to the techniques of mortal cultivators."

To illustrate this, consider a baby. Even though powerful weapons and tools are placed nearby, the baby's strength is insufficient to lift them.

To wield a divine weapon, one must reach a certain level of advancement. At the very least, one must attain the level of Purification Realm.

Awkward!

Liu Wu-xiao felt incredibly awkward. He tried several times, but each attempt ended in failure.

The tearing sensation in his meridians left him in excruciating pain. If he continued to practice, his physical body would surely shatter into pieces.

Now!

A drop of pure liquid flowed from his dantian and rushed towards the meridians, filling his entire body, including his limbs and organs.

The fragile meridians are like voracious, greedy insects, devouring liquids voraciously.

The mud within them gradually dissolves, and one feels a sense of relaxation throughout the body.

"What's going on?"

The spiritual consciousness sank into the dantian to investigate what exactly this drop of liquid was and where it had come from.

The moment I entered the Dantian, my head nearly exploded.

A black, divine cauldron occupied the central position within the Dantian.

The liquid was flowing out of the cauldron.

"This is… This is the Devourer God Cauldron. It has actually come with me."

The Divine Vessel of Devouring Heaven exploded with him at the very end, but little did he expect that it would appear within his Dantian.

"So it means… that my rebirth is inextricably linked to the Divine Vessel of Devouring?"

All of a sudden!

A massive cloud of dark gas erupted from the cauldron and struck Liu Wu-xiao's consciousness.

The black gas continued to swirl and change, eventually transforming into rows of dark, ancient text, etched with the marks of time.

The tremendous force jolted his consciousness out of his body and back into reality.

I didn't have time to organize the thoughts in my mind when a loud commotion erupted outside.

The rocks above his head were gradually removed, allowing a bit of light to seep through.

Many people held torches and gathered around.

"Sir, we've found the son-in-law!"

A group of strong men managed to dislodge the broken wood. Miraculously, his life was spared.

A beam of wood blocked the massive stone that was about to fall, and his body sustained relatively few injuries.

The true cause of his death was the fatal blow delivered by that stone.

In a flurry of activity, he was carefully lifted out and placed on the ground.

He was nourished by a mysterious liquid, and aside from some minor injuries, his body was largely unharmed.

He was able to stand up straight.

"You wretched creature!

Are you trying to drive me insane?"

Just then, Xu Yilin appeared in front of him, looking utterly exasperated.

He was so angry that he blew his beard and glared at him.

It was learned that his son-in-law had caused a commotion in the brothels, was pinned down, and had not even had time to put on his outer garments; he had hurriedly rushed out wearing only a cloak.

Curiously, in the face of Xu Yilin's scolding, a warm feeling passed through Liu Wu-xiao's heart.

He could sense that Xu Yilin truly cared about him.

"How is this piece of trash still alive?"

A sudden, startling cry interrupted their conversation. Hundreds of onlookers gathered from all directions, pointing and making comments.

"This pest is truly lucky! Despite everything, he hasn't been killed. God really has poor eyesight!"

"What kind of misfortune has the Xu family endured by inviting such an unwanted son-in-law into their household, thereby bringing shame upon the Xu family?"

A waste is just a waste.

Today is the day of his wedding.

He came here in the evening to prowl through brothels, unleashing his beastly instincts and ripping the clothes off the women in the brothels, nearly causing a major catastrophe.

Heaven is unjust; why doesn't such a worthless person lose their life?"

The chorus of mocking voices from all directions was like a tidal wave, crashing down upon Liu Wu-xiao alone.

"Uh…"

Liu Wuxie's face turned pale, but he had no way to refute her statement.

Xu Yilin's face turned bright red. Someone quickly helped him up and told him to head back first.

It was embarrassing to be seen like that here.

"Stop!"

A cold exclamation echoed behind him, interrupting their progress.

An old madam, accompanied by ten guards, hurried over, looking menacing and intimidating.

The group exuded a fierce aura.

"Master Xu, your son-in-law has caused the collapse of our Yi Hong Courtyard, injuring dozens of people.

The young lady is too frightened to venture out.

Many guests are still recovering in medical facilities.

All of this stems from him. Do you plan to simply walk away and leave everything behind?"

The madam was in her forties, with a thick layer of rouge applied to her face.

The pungent fragrance was overwhelming and somewhat irritating.

Her face resembled that of a hanged corpse, which was repulsive.

Standing in front of Liu Wu-xiao, she was shouting and making a commotion.

"Regarding the compensation issue, I will arrange for someone to come over to discuss it."

Xu Yilin glared fiercely at Liu Wu-xiao.

This was not the time for reprimands.

We'd discuss this when we got home.

"No need. I'll cover the costs of the losses myself."

Liu Wuxie stood up.

The matter had started with him, and he didn't want to involve too many others.

"Young Master Liu, not that I'm belittling you, but what compensation can you offer?"

The madam did not spare him any dignity and ridiculed him in front of Xu Yilin, causing laughter to ripple through the crowd.

"Rest assured, you will receive every single penny of compensation.

I, Xu Yilin, guarantee that the compensation will be delivered to you within three days."

Xu Yilin spoke firmly and made a promise, after which he allowed them to leave.

Liu Wuxie couldn't help but feel moved: "Wasn't my previous life plagued by some kind of mental issue? Just by looking at my father-in-law, it's clear he genuinely cares about him…"

Following behind Xu Yilin, Liu Wu-xiao remained silent.

He remains deeply grateful to the Xu family.

When he was in dire straits, it was the Xu family who provided him with support.

Xu Yilin, in particular, upheld his promise by offering his precious daughter in marriage to him.

This demonstrates that he is a man of strong emotions and loyalty.

The sky began to lighten as the Xu family's gates were opened.

Two servants were about to clear the fallen leaves outside the gate when they saw Xu Yi-lin.

They bowed respectfully, but completely ignored Liu Wu-xiao.

"Go back and change into something different. Meet me in the main hall later."

He was covered in dust, his clothes were torn, and he looked like a beggar.

Xu Yilin told him to go back and tidy himself up first.

"Yes."

Liu Wu-xiao harbored both fear and a hint of respect for his father-in-law.

Without the Xu family, he doesn't know how many times he would have died over the years.

The new book has finally launched after a long wait. After two months of refinement, it will surely not disappoint you.

Let's start with a few dozen chapters first; if it's not good, blame me.
