Chapter 15 - Great Filter: Half Population Death

[According to the knowledge stored in the big white pearl, devouring and feasting on the flesh of sea monsters was the best way for the body to refine Sea Origin Energy.]

[The greater the size and power of sea monsters, the more Sea Origin Energy they possess. Therefore, consuming larger ones would yield more Sea Origin Energy. However, that posed the risk of a higher sea monster mutation chance.]

[To deal with that, humans opted for the way to cook sea monster flesh rather than devouring them raw. Cooking it would drastically reduce the Sea Origin Energy, so mermaids ate the flesh of sea monsters raw. However, humans don't have the high sea origin affinity that mermaids possessed, so humans below the Third Stage aren't suggested to consume sea monster flesh raw.]

["My Unlimited Food Creation talent had already added the 400-meter-tall Orca in my food menu. Whether it's fresh sashimi, raw flesh, or any possible cooking methods like boiled into a soup or fried, I can consume it and absorb the Sea Origin Energy inside it."]

[Most humans wouldn't be advised to eat it raw, especially if it's a sea monster as powerful and huge as the 400-meter-tall Orca. However, you had already achieved Semi-Awakening, so you were an exception to it.]

[In your True Fairy Form, you can somewhat withstand the Sea Origin Energy of a Stage 4 Leviathan Frame like the 400-meter-tall Orca. And even if you couldn't, you could easily use your Sealing ability to seal the excess Sea Origin Energy and prevent yourself from having a sea monster mutation.]

[With your sealing ability that can seal almost anything, even the sea monster mutation can be sealed and removed from your body.]

[Just as you were about to test the Leviathan Tempering Path, a notification sound from the World Will interrupted you.]

[{Attention to all Terrans! In the first year since the Global Ocean Survival has started, the world will encounter a Great Filter.}]

[{A Great Filter is an almost inescapable disaster that befalls an evolving world. It's decided by the [Redacted], and only one in a hundred worlds will encounter such a disaster.}]

[{Unfortunately, this world has been chosen and the disaster is an inevitable Half Population Death.}]

[{In the first year, which is approximately 4 months from now, the Half Population Death will occur. Everyone will be judged randomly and face Instant Death if they are chosen.}]

[{To achieve perfection, not only is power, talent, and willpower needed, but luck is just as important, if not more. This Great Filter will not only test the luck of all Terran survivors, but also reduce half of the Terran population.}]

[{Good luck to all survivors and may you all achieve perfection!}]

[After you listened to the World Will's Global Announcement, you have the urge to curse all its generations to die.]

[Not only you, most, if not all, of the survivors were already cursing the World Will in the regional chat group.]

[The one who cursed the most were those Fairy Fruit Users who mostly hailed from the Fairy Fruit Alliance.]

[After all, they're the ones who had already surpassed the average survivors by being Fairy Fruit Users. Yet, the World Will screwed their hard work and effort the most by letting them die equally with other weak survivors.]

["What the fuck is going on with this World's mind? Did it really think it's that bald purple potato that's infamous for the half population family planning? Unlike in that alien's case, this world isn't even lacking resources and isn't suffering from overpopulation."]

[If you had possessed a one-time use simulation talent that could kill anything, you really wanted to kill the World Will.]

[However, you knew that it was merely a fantasy as you were far from being able to kill the World Will. Even if you grind for the following 4 months and somewhat become a Fairy King and achieve Stage 5 Abyss Sovereign Body, it still wouldn't be enough.]

[Only power outside of this world could kill that motherfucker. Unfortunately, none of your simulation talents were suitable to deal with the World Will or even the Great Filter: Half Population Death.]

['That damn Great Filter is undoubtedly a plot kill. I don't know if it's the simulation being forced to end due to catching the attention of a higher-dimensional being. Nevertheless, I'll just treat this as my death four months from now.']

[While you thought that way, you decided to go all out and train madly. There was no point in raging impotently, since if you think about it, the rewards you could get now from the simulation were already good enough to survive the Zombie Apocalypse World. Because of that, you weren't worried even if the Great Filter killed you.]

[Knowing that you don't have much time left to live, you took out your Absolute Compass and asked, "If there's any powerful Fairy Fruit that I can eat as my second fairy fruit, point towards it. Forget it if it's located too far away and can't be reached within my ship's traveling speed within the span of 4 months."]

[As you waited, the Absolute Compass didn't respond. No matter how you moved it, the magnetic needle was frozen and didn't point anywhere, which meant that what you were finding couldn't be fulfilled within the conditions you stated.]

[You tried again, but only stated if there's a second fairy fruit you could eat, yet it still didn't point to any direction. In other words, no matter how weak a fairy fruit was, you couldn't eat it.]

[You didn't give up and tried to command it to find a method that would allow eating a second fairy fruit. This time, it did point West.]

[But when you added the condition of it being reachable within 4 months of traveling, it stopped pointing West and no longer responded.]

["It seems I can't eat a second fairy fruit. I might as well focus on training the Leviathan Tempering Path as well as achieving Fairy Fruit Awakening."]

[With that plan in mind, you started another training marathon that lasted until the first year of the Global Ocean Survival World.]
