Chapter 95 - Chapter 95: Then War It Is?

"Your Majesty, A letter from Kuru Kingdom and royal advisor with other ministers are waiting for you in the throne room."

Karna's attention turned to the royal messenger who had delivered the message. The mention of a letter from the Kuru Kingdom, along with the presence of the royal advisor and ministers, piqued his interest. It was not unusual for communications and meetings with neighbouring kingdoms to occur, but the timing was notable.

"Thank you for relaying the message," Karna replied to the messenger. "I shall make my way to the throne room immediately."

Karna's steps quickened as he made his way to the throne room, the weight of responsibility and curiosity pressing upon him. His loyal companions, Kamini, Brinda, Kali, and Scáthach, followed closely, their presence a reassuring reminder of the unity and strength within the palace.

As Karna entered the throne room, he was met with the sight of his royal advisor, ministers, and a messenger from the Kuru Kingdom, all standing in anticipation. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of importance.

"Your Majesty," the royal advisor began with a respectful bow, "we have received a letter from the Kuru Kingdom. It bears urgent tidings."

Karna nodded, his gaze fixed on the sealed letter in the advisor's hand. The Kuru Kingdom was a significant ally, and any news from there held potential ramifications for the stability of Anga.

"Please, proceed," Karna urged, his voice steady.

The royal advisor carefully broke the seal and unfurled the letter. His eyes scanned its contents, and his expression shifted from anticipation to a subtle mixture of concern and horror.

"Y-Your M-Majesty... War looms... Kuru Kingdom intelligence says that... Magadha kingdom is preparing to attack us..."

The revelation of an impending attack by the Magadha Kingdom sent ripples of tension throughout the throne room. Karna's expression remained composed, but his mind raced as he considered the gravity of the situation. The Magadha Kingdom was a formidable force, and a conflict with them could have dire consequences for Anga.

"So they choose this path," Karna whispered but because of the hushed tension in the room, his words carried clearly to those present. His companions—Kamini, Brinda, Kali, and Scáthach—stood beside him, their expressions a mix of concern and readiness.

The royal advisor cleared his throat, his voice resolute despite the unease in the room. "Your Majesty, we must act swiftly and decisively. Magadha's preparations for war are well underway, and they have amassed a significant military force."

Karna nodded in agreement, his mind already formulating a plan of action. "Prepare a council of our most trusted strategists and advisors. I want a comprehensive assessment of our defences, available resources, and potential allies."

As his ministers and advisors hastened to carry out his orders, Karna turned to Scáthach and Kali. "Scáthach, can you help with training some soldiers with weapons? While Kali, you can teach some younger ones basic elemental magic for defense. We must ensure that our forces are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead."

Scáthach inclined her head in acknowledgement. "Of course, Your Majesty. I will oversee the training regimen and ensure that our soldiers are equipped with the necessary skills to defend Anga."

Kali's eyes glittered with determination. "I will take charge of the elemental magic training, Your Majesty. Our younger generation must be able to harness their abilities effectively."

Karna's gaze then shifted to Kamini and Brinda, who had been quietly observing the proceedings. "Kamini, Brinda, your boundless energy and spirit are an inspiration to us all. You shall be the messengers of hope and unity within our kingdom. Rally the people, reassure them, and let them know that we stand strong together."

Kamini beamed with enthusiasm. "We'll spread the word of unity and bravery, Karna. No one will lose hope as long as we're here!"

Brinda nodded in agreement. "We'll be the voices of strength and resilience in these challenging times, Your Majesty."

Karna's heart swelled with pride at the unwavering support of his companions. Each of them possessed unique strengths that would be crucial in the upcoming conflict.

With the council of advisors assembled and Scáthach and Kali taking charge of training, the discussions turned toward diplomacy. Karna's royal advisor, along with seasoned ministers, presented various options and scenarios for negotiations with the Magadha Kingdom.

Karna listened attentively, weighing each proposal carefully. Diplomacy was always a preferred route, but he knew the situation was delicate.

The historical disputes over border territories were a source of deep-rooted tension, and it was uncertain whether Magadha's intentions were purely expansionary or if there were deeper motivations at play.

After a thorough examination of the diplomatic options, Karna made a decisive choice. "We will send an envoy to the Magadha Kingdom with an offer of peaceful negotiations. Our aim is to resolve this conflict without further bloodshed. However, we shall also prepare our defences rigorously. We must be ready for any outcome."

The council of advisors acknowledged Karna's decision and preparations for the diplomatic mission were set in motion.

As Kali began instructing young individuals in the basics of elemental magic, she marvelled at their determination to learn and protect their homeland.

The youth of Anga were the future, and she was determined to empower them with the knowledge they needed to defend their kingdom.

Scáthach, meanwhile, oversaw the rigorous training of soldiers. Her years of combat experience and mastery of various martial forms made her an invaluable resource. She imparted not only physical skills but also the discipline and mental fortitude needed for battle.

Outside the palace, Kamini and Brinda took to the streets and villages, spreading Karna's message of unity and resilience.

They shared stories of Anga's history and its people's indomitable spirit, rallying the citizens in preparation for the challenges ahead.

In the days that followed, the kingdom of Anga worked tirelessly, balancing the pursuit of diplomacy with the fortification of its defences.

The air was charged with a sense of urgency and determination, and the people of Anga drew strength from their unwavering king and his loyal companions.

After a couple of days, a reply came from the Magadha Kingdom and it bore the weight of their response to Anga's offer of peaceful negotiations. Karna, surrounded by his council of advisors and ministers, received the sealed letter with a sense of anticipation and caution.

The royal advisor carefully broke the seal and began to read the contents of the letter. As he read, his expression shifted from anticipation to a mixture of disgust and pure rage.

"T-They want all pure g-girls and women of our kingdom surrender the kingdom to them with Y-Your majesty's m-mother—"

The room seemed to tremble under the overwhelming surge of Karna's killing intent. His eyes blazed with a furious fire, and his clenched fists trembled with restrained anger.

The contents of the letter from the Magadha Kingdom had struck a deeply personal chord, for they not only threatened his kingdom but also his family and the honour of his people.

The council of advisors and ministers, accustomed to Karna's unwavering resolve and calm demeanour, were taken aback by the sheer intensity of his rage. It was a stark reminder of the lengths to which he would go to protect Anga and its people.

Karna's voice, when he spoke, was a low, controlled growl, each word carrying the weight of his fury. "They dare to make such demands? To threaten the honour and dignity of our people? This is an affront not just to Anga but to the principles of justice and decency."

The royal advisor, who had delivered the message, bowed his head. "Your Majesty, we understand the gravity of the situation. Our people will stand with you in the face of this vile demand."

"Your majesty from our intelligence we found an important piece of information."

Karna's anger smoldered beneath the surface, but he remained composed as he listened to his advisor's revelation. The situation had escalated to an unimaginable level, and it was imperative to gather all available information to formulate a strategic response.

"Tell me what you have discovered," Karna instructed, his voice a blend of urgency and determination.

The royal advisor cleared his throat before continuing. "Our intelligence sources have uncovered information that suggests the Magadha Kingdom is not acting entirely on its own. There are whispers of an alliance with a neighbouring kingdom, the Sindhu Kingdom."

Karna's brow furrowed at this revelation. An alliance between Magadha and Sindhu would significantly increase the threat to Anga. It was no longer a mere territorial dispute but a complex web of political and military manoeuvring.

"That's not all but they think that Your Majesty and your familiar is injured from your battle with Mahamahim Bhishma, Which is obviously incorrect. We can take advantage of this misunderstanding."

Karna's eyes narrowed in contemplation at the mention of this misconception. The belief that he and his familiar were injured could indeed be turned to their advantage. It might create an opportunity for a strategic manoeuvre that could catch the Magadha and Sindhu forces off guard.

"I see," Karna replied, his mind working swiftly to formulate a plan. "We shall use this misunderstanding to our advantage. While they believe us to be weakened, we will prepare a counteroffensive that will take them by surprise."

His council of advisors and ministers nodded in agreement, their faith in Karna's leadership unshaken. It was evident that they were ready to support their king in whatever course of action he deemed necessary.

Karna turned to his loyal companions, Kamini, Brinda, Kali, and Scáthach—with a steely resolve. "Our people's honour, safety, and dignity are at stake. We will not back down. I need each of you to execute your respective roles flawlessly."

Kamin's eyes sparkled with determination. "We'll continue spreading the message of unity and resolve, Karna. The people will stand with you."

Brinda's expression was unwavering. "We'll be the beacon of hope and courage, Your Majesty. The citizens will see the strength in their king."

Kali's commitment to her role was evident. "The younger generation will be ready to defend their homeland, Karna. I'll ensure they're prepared."

Scáthach's gaze held the promise of victory. "Our soldiers will be trained to their peak, and our strategies will be flawless, Your Majesty. We'll be ready for whatever comes."

With each of his companions fully committed to their tasks, Karna turned his attention back to the council. "Prepare a detailed plan for the counteroffensive. We must ensure that every move we make is calculated and decisive."
