Esme's POV
There was a tense atmosphere around the Haven as Elle and I walked towards it.
The clouds had got darker. I could tell Ruby was still asleep as the wind around the building was stiff.
It surprised me that I had already got so used to things that the weather change was such a profound change to realise. "The human knight?"
He walked out of the Haven, toward me, wearing his full armour. His hair was a copper brown, and his eyes reminded me of nobility. Nobility tend to have that shade of bright brown-gold eyes, and they do well to keep those features alive for years.
I stopped moving, and so did he. I frowned. If he wanted to apologise for his bad first impressions, then he should know I was letting him do it.
His eyes were on Elle.
"I want to approach the Mistress," he said to her.
Elle wasn't stopping him. She was rather nonchalant and only shrugged. That was when I saw it.
