Chapter 400 - Final Duel of Slaughter City

Among the four, Tang San had no confidence in defeating any of them.

Especially Zhu Zhuqing's "Other Shore Ghost Shuttle." He still had no idea how to counter it. It moved faster than his Godly Zhuge Crossbow, yet was far more compact and unpredictable. His current arsenal—Flying God Claw and Godly Zhuge Crossbow—was simply not enough to bridge that gap.

He had once believed that two years of bitter training would at least narrow the distance between him and the Heart of Fire Academy's students.

But reality had proven otherwise.

The gap had not narrowed.

It had widened beyond recognition.

A troubling thought surfaced in his mind.

Should he really go and become a disciple of Heart of Fire Academy?

Was the path he had chosen… wrong from the very beginning?

For the first time in a long while, a deeply confused expression appeared on Tang San's weathered face. Self-doubt crept in, heavy and unavoidable.

Meanwhile, inside Slaughter City.

"Today is destined to be a day of miracles."

The announcer's voice echoed across the Hell Slaughter Arena.

"In the past year, five extraordinary existences have appeared simultaneously in Slaughter City. All of them have achieved ninety-nine consecutive victories and will complete their final match today, unlocking the qualification to challenge Hell Road!"

"Their titles are as follows:

— Hell Messenger

— Nine Nether Demoness

— Adamantine Fiend

— Hell Savior!"

Under normal circumstances, such an event would have drawn the entire population of Slaughter City. Villains, killers, and fugitives from all corners would gather to witness a historical moment.

But today… the arena was strangely quiet.

Not because of disinterest.

But because most of the spectators who once filled Slaughter City were already gone.

Dead.

The recent months had been nothing short of catastrophic for the city's underground ecosystem. Entire groups of fiends had been wiped out, and those who survived no longer dared to move recklessly.

The once-chaotic Slaughter City had become eerily silent.

A suffocating calm before the storm.

No wonder even the Slaughter King could no longer tolerate the presence of those four.

Their existence had completely disrupted the balance of this "training ground."

This was Slaughter City—not a cultivation backyard.

And yet, it had been turned into one.

In the spectator stands, Tang San sat alone, a cup of blood wine in hand. His appearance was no longer as refined as when he first entered this place. His face was rough, unshaven, and filled with exhaustion.

He looked like a man who had lost something fundamental along the way.

He watched the arena quietly.

Nine Spirit Douluo-level opponents surrounded the platform.

Even without spirit abilities, their coordination and killing intent made them terrifying beyond words. Under normal circumstances, no single participant should have been able to withstand such pressure.

But the four figures standing in the center of the arena showed no fear.

Because this was not a battle for survival.

It was a final threshold.

A gate to Hell Road.

Tang San took a slow sip of blood wine.

If they failed here, they would die.

If they succeeded, they would leave this place behind forever.

Either way, Slaughter City would lose its most dangerous variables.

Then…

It would become his domain again.

Elsewhere, tension also gathered.

"After this hundred-win match, we'll be heading to Hell Road," Hu Liena said softly. "Teacher Xin really isn't coming?"

The four students of Heart of Fire Academy exchanged glances.

Hu Liena had, over the past year, somehow remained attached to their group. Though they never fully trusted her, she had gradually integrated herself into their chaotic dynamic through sheer persistence.

Still—

Mentioning Xin was always dangerous.

Ning Rongrong immediately narrowed her eyes.

"Are you here to train, or are you here to chase our teacher?" she snapped. "That's our teacher. Yours is in the Papal Palace, remember?"

Hu Liena tilted her head slightly.

"I don't think there's a rule saying a soul master can only have one teacher."

Her tone was innocent.

Almost too innocent.

Ning Rongrong froze for a moment.

Then she pointed at her in disbelief.

"…This woman is even more shameless than me."

Xiao Wu sighed.

Zhu Zhuqing remained silent.

Ye Lingling simply glanced toward the arena, her expression calm.

Below them, the final battle was about to begin.

And Slaughter City itself… was holding its breath.
