Back in the instance, Su Ming quickly found the zombie he'd already killed once. This time it wasn't facing away—so resets weren't perfectly identical. But he'd beaten it head-on once already. Again would be fine.

ME Corp wasn't a single building—it was an industrial campus. Factories surrounded the main office. The headquarters was a three-part structure: two lower side wings and a central main tower, connected by skybridges.
By his understanding, he was in the right wing on the second floor. Below, on the first floor, should have been an assembly workshop.
Should I check downstairs for loot?
He stared at the stairs, thinking.

He'd already died twice. What was one more?
He jogged down the fire stairs—only to find the first floor completely different from his memory.
…What is this? A mech assembly bay? Where did my electronics workshop go?
Alarm bells went off in his head. He stepped back to retreat to the stairwell—
The door had an electronic lock.
And it locked automatically.
A cold broadcast echoed through the workshop:
"Unauthorized intruder carrying a weapon detected. Enacting security protocol. Eliminate on sight."
Several Titan mechs powered on—rising from standby. Their mechanical eyes lit an eerie blue.

Su Ming remembered: this wasn't the peaceful ME Corp where he worked daily. This was the original-timeline ME Corp under Cocolia's control.
He cursed and sprinted for the main entrance. The interior rooms might differ, but the main door—structural, fundamental—wouldn't.
Then the system displayed the enemy's panel.

In the game, this was a basic Titan move—slow, obvious, easy to dodge when you controlled a high-performance Valkyrie with invincibility frames.
But for Su Ming, it was an onrushing wall. Getting hit meant death.
The Titan was already on him.
Su Ming didn't freeze. He gritted his teeth and dove sideways into a cluster of equipment.
Crash—bang—metal screamed.
The Titan plowed through machines before stopping.
Su Ming didn't even have time to rub his shoulder from the impact, because other activated Titans had already reached him—swinging steel fists with terrifying speed.
A Titan's Strength was 50.
That meant a punch was measured in tons.
The blow came down—crushingly inevitable.

Su Ming jolted awake in bed, shuddering, sucking in a sharp breath.
After a few seconds he recovered and looked down.
Mei was still asleep in his arms.
Only then did he exhale in relief.
Remembering the way "Su Ming Paste" ended—how he'd taken three punches before becoming paste—Su Ming had no intention of entering the instance again tonight, even though he still had some Spirit left.
That death had been… long and painful.
He had, admittedly, developed a small psychological shadow from it.
