Her head snapped to the side, her body collapsing to the ground. The teacup slipped from her fingers and shattered across the marbled floor.
"You ungrateful wench," Mirabelle snarled, gritting her teeth. "How dare you look at me like that?"
The girl said nothing. A metallic, warm taste lingered in her mouth, but she lowered her gaze anyway.
