At the same time, Ronin was getting used to his Mangekyō Sharingan.
His right eye's Amaterasu was something that existed in the manga, but his left eye's ability surprised him.
His left eye's power was Amenomahitotsu no Kami.
Its effect: the space within his line of sight becomes abnormally "fixed"—meaning that while Ronin focuses his ability on that region, everything inside that space is immobilized and paused.
The duration was unknown, and the exact consumption wasn't fully clear yet.
In the earlier operation, he used Amenomahitotsu no Kami to briefly restrain Isri.
But looking back, that first use likely covered too large an area—and the spike in energy consumption seemed to begin the moment Silva's fists made contact with the "locked" space.
In other words, immobilizing the target itself didn't cost that much; the cost surged when outside force tried to break into or impact the immobilized space.
Either way, the left eye's Amenomahitotsu no Kami was clearly a space-time type technique.
And if Ronin remembered correctly, Amenomahitotsu no Kami was also one of the "other" Kotoamatsukami-related deities.
Amenomahitotsu no Kami, which represented order and stability, was said to recognize Amaterasu and not wish for its power to be used to overturn Amaterasu's rule—so it imposed self-restraints.
By that logic, Amenomahitotsu no Kami paired with Amaterasu was a fitting combination.
Still, as good as the left eye's ability was, it wasn't exactly what Ronin had hoped for.
Compared to Amaterasu and Amenomahitotsu no Kami, Ronin preferred Obito's Kamui.
That kind of space-time power—phasing and warping—was the truly enviable one.
But having one Mangekyō ability that existed in canon, and one that didn't, was still decent.
As for what the future held… he would keep fusing Scarlet Eyes. Maybe an "unexpected surprise" would show up.
Ronin, at least, was full of anticipation for what came next.
On September 5, a major incident happened: the Greed Island game that had been auctioned at Numpis was attacked by robbers during transport.
The cargo was stolen. All escorts were killed.
"This feels like the Phantom Troupe's work," Kurapika said as he maintained Ren, browsing streams of information on his computer.
With Ronin's shadow clones available, even if someone suspected "Ten Don Raymond's" identity, they still couldn't find a flaw.
And after Kurapika used Raymond's status to integrate mafia resources, the two of them became more and more firmly established within one of the world's top ten mafia groups.
Kurapika was also quietly cleaning out underworld businesses he refused to touch—drugs, human trafficking, and the like.
As for casinos and similar enterprises, those were "standard mafia industries." If they quit all of it, they wouldn't be a mafia anymore.
Watching Kurapika's choices, Ronin thought of someone with a "golden spirit."
Though that boy had become a boss far more slowly than Kurapika did.
"But Uvogin's dead—why would they go after Greed Island?" Ronin was surprised, but he quickly searched his memory for Greed Island's items.
Slowly, he did think of a possibility.
If the Phantom Troupe cleared Greed Island, could they bring Spell Cards out of the game like Gon did?
But even if they did, it wouldn't help. As long as Ronin never entered the game and left identity data, they couldn't use cards like Accompany outside the game to locate him.
Gon could warp to Kite because Kite had explicitly said that Ging had once brought him into Greed Island.
Then Ronin thought of Bonolenov.
When Ronin cast Amaterasu earlier, black fire had spread onto Bonolenov—could it be that Bonolenov was badly injured and needed Greed Island's healing methods?
Ronin had been automatically thinking in "Naruto Amaterasu track record" terms, but Amaterasu wasn't weak.
It was strong—very strong.
Ronin put down his manga. "If the Troupe enters Greed Island now, does that mean they're temporarily giving up the hunt for us?"
"Yeah, that's possible," Kurapika nodded. Sweat kept dripping off him onto the floor.
Maintaining Ren wasn't easy, but it was a method that boosted strength quickly.
And by Ronin's standards, Kurapika needed to maintain Ren for more than three hours to be considered "qualified."
Using Milia's aura-number system, that meant Kurapika needed an aura pool of around 11,000 to qualify.
Right now, Kurapika could only hold Ren for about fifty minutes—meaning his current aura pool was only around 3,000.
And that was with a recovery ability that saved time and accelerated training.
But Big Brother Ronin…
By Ronin's own estimate, his aura pool was already approaching 50,000.
After killing Omokage and gaining two pairs of Scarlet Eyes, Ronin's aura pool reached 20,000.
Then three months of training increased it further—especially once Kurapika developed the pinky recovery chain, which accelerated growth.
Even so, Ronin's three-month training gain was roughly comparable to the aura gain from fusing a single pair of Scarlet Eyes.
That meant by September 1, Ronin's aura pool was around 25,000.
Then, after obtaining four more pairs of Scarlet Eyes in quick succession, his aura exploded upward. In only five days, he jumped from 25,000 to 45,000.
Now Ronin wasn't focusing on expanding his aura pool further—he was focusing on mastering the massive aura he already had.
His three months of training had brought his control to the point where aura moved like an extension of his limbs… but this sudden surge had made his control rough again.
To perfectly control all of his aura—and to raise the amount he could burst at once (his "active output")—he needed nonstop practice.
Otherwise, just like when he borrowed aura from Milia, his huge aura pool would only increase endurance, not raise his attack ceiling.
Of course, that was in terms of Nen alone.
Ninjutsu was another story: if Ronin fought Uvogin one-on-one right now, Ronin was confident that even if Uvogin could still burrow underground, a single Great Fire Annihilation would roast him into charcoal.
Before, Ronin's Great Fire Annihilation could only cover the Heavens Arena ring.
Now, Ronin believed he could fill the entire arena with it—ring and spectator stands alike—leaving no survivors.
In Ronin's eyes, that was what Great Fire Annihilation was supposed to look like.
Still… he had more training to do.
