Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Birth of the Injustice League

Hospital Corridor.

Tears rimmed Maria Hill's eyes as she wept in silence.

From the day she became an agent, over a decade of trust—

had proven heartbreakingly fragile.

Nick Fury had lost everything.

From the moment he was framed, his emotions had spiraled completely out of control.

Now he was sensitive, fragile, neurotic—

like a wounded child.

Hill was utterly disappointed in him.

To entrust someone this broken with the future of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

She might as well consider whether to accept Renjie's invitation instead.

A familiar fragrance made her body tense instantly.

Android 18 had somehow appeared inside the hospital

and was even greeting her warmly.

Hill instinctively stepped back in alarm

and crashed into a solid chest.

Strong arms wrapped around her at once.

As an agent, she was trained in combat.

She prepared to counterattack, to break free—

but when she saw that the man holding her was Renjie,

her clenched fist froze in midair.

"Fury's been locked up for so long. It's only natural for him to be unstable."

"Let him calm down. Give him some private space."

Renjie spoke gently, lifting a hand to tenderly wipe away the tears at the corner of Hill's eyes.

This man…

was impossibly gentle.

Hill could no longer hold back.

She collapsed into his arms, sobbing softly.

Renjie patted her back, soothing her breathing.

Even agents are human.

They have emotions too.

Everything was proceeding exactly as Renjie had calculated.

From the night he deliberately provoked Fury and drove him into the hospital—

he had already foreseen that Hill would come, begging him to spare Fury.

There had been a small accident along the way.

But

Renjie had cleverly used that very incident to stage this final act,

completely shattering the trust between them.

His intellect was a miracle formed from countless geniuses combined:

Batman. Lex Luthor. Dr. Gero.

And countless others.

They had shaped the man he was now.

He could have killed Nick Fury easily.

But that would be far too ordinary.

He wanted to destroy the man's heart.

Step by step, he dismantled Fury's inner world—

taking everything he cherished:

His reputation.

His identity.

His status.

His subordinates.

His friends.

Even his freedom.

Even absolute loyalty.

The plan was progressing flawlessly.

Nick Fury had fallen into despair.

And Renjie

was the greatest winner of this game.

Thirty minutes later.

After venting her emotions, Hill gradually regained her composure.

She did not cling to his warmth like a fragile woman.

Instead, she straightened and walked away—strong once more.

"I've thought it through. I accept your invitation."

"From today onward… I will serve you."

Hill steadied her emotions and gave Renjie the answer he had been waiting for.

Everything had changed in just a few short hours.

"It is my honor, Commander Hill."

"Welcome to the Injustice League."

Renjie smiled and extended his left hand.

Hill raised her left hand as well—

and their fingers interlocked in a firm handshake.

If one looked closely—

they would notice that both of their left hands wore identical rings.

These were specially developed for his subordinates.

Each ring stored a personal combat suit—

ready to be deployed at the moment of activation.

"When does my assignment begin?"

Hill asked earnestly.

She was a decisive woman.

Once she gave her word, she would follow through—and excel.

"When the Injustice League is fully assembled."

Before Renjie, a virtual interface appeared.

Upon it—

the roster of the Injustice League.

Hill frowned slightly.

She felt this was still not enough.

"If you want to build a true 'hero team,' you'll need the backing of a nation."

"That nation lies in distant Africa—Wakanda."

"It is closed to the outside world, like a paradise beyond reality."

"But it possesses the world's largest vibranium reserves."

"Its technology surpasses the rest of the world by centuries."

"With your power, you could easily take it."

"Combine Wakanda's vibranium with the military's adamantium,

and your new energy source—"

"You could build the strongest interstellar warships in existence."

Hill offered her proposal calmly.

People change.

Especially someone like Maria Hill, a commander at the top of the hierarchy.

She would always adapt to the shifting balance of power.

Just like now

as a member of the Injustice League.

Full name:

The Injustice League

An enforcement alliance that abandons conventional methods to uphold world justice.

Her proposal was simple:

Use extraordinary means—

seize Wakanda by force.

Rather than letting vibranium remain buried as the private property of a small nation—

they would extract it all.

Build interstellar fleets.

Protect the planet.

Benefit all mankind.

All for justice—

even if a small group must be sacrificed.

This

was the Injustice League.

"Wakanda… You know, I almost forgot about that place."

Renjie smiled with anticipation.

For the sake of its vibranium resources—

it would be worth leading his subordinates there personally.
