I dazedly stared at the blank screen in front of me. My notebook PC had been on for hours, and yet not a single letter was written.
I had often heard professional writers talk about this…
The wretched "Writers' block".
Just how did writers overcome such a dilemma?
After giving my limbs a good stretch and letting out all the groans pent up inside of me, I decided to finally deal with this issue head on.
I moved my cursor, which had been still for hours, up to the search bar and typed in the following.
• Tips to overcome writers block
I felt like a genius. Truly, how did I not think of this before? Whenever you're stuck, just ask good old Google for help.
I clicked the search button and anticipated the results.
"This is going to be good!"
Countless results popped up on my screen: from tips and tricks to advice, there was everything. And yet…
"..."
My face, that was practically beaming with happiness, turned into a frown full of despair. It felt like a truck had just hit me - that truck was called "reality".
To summarize, no matter how hard I searched, the only piece of advice I found was…
[ 10 Ways to overcome writer's block!! ]
[ 1. Write! It can be anything. ]
As if I didn't know that…
If it was that easy, I wouldn't be asking for help, would I?
Or…
Maybe it was that easy?
I looked at the time and it was only 8 PM. I had four hours till the next chapter of my webnovel was scheduled for release.
Four hours…
Was that really enough time?
I shook my head fervently and gave my cheek a good slap. Four hours is enough time.
The only sounds that accompanied me were the clicks and clacks of my keyboard. My notebook PC light was the only thing reflected in my retinas. Countless letters appeared on my screen, those letters became words, and those words formed sentences. My fingers typed away relentlessly and my consciousness submerged into the story.
How many hours passed by like that? I, for one, did not keep track.
My pace slowed down and I typed down the very last words of the chapter.
[ Author's note: Thank you very much for reading this week's chapter! In all honesty, this week was quite tough. My mind was blank for most of the week, it felt as if all of my ideas were flushed away.... ]
I pressed the backspace button till the entire section was deleted. An author should definitely not be writing something like this for their dear readers. Afterall, the author's note wasn't a space for me to bombard my readers with vents. Instead, I typed up the following:
[ Author's note: Thank you very much for reading this week's chapter! I hope you enjoyed it and can tag along for next week! ]
Short and simple. This was much better.
Once I was satisfied I uploaded the chapter to my favourite webnovel website. The clock had exactly struck twelve. "Phew… Right on time!"
I felt my body sway back and forth, at this point I was going to collapse on my table.
"Right! Time to go to bed."
The lonely sight of my bed brought me immense joy. I got up from my seat and approached my bed, with each step I took I could feel just how stiff my legs had gotten from all that sitting. Once I got near enough, I felt all the strength in my body drop and I powerlessly plopped atop my bed. The soft blanket cuddled my skin and I felt my head sink into the pillow. It felt like the fruits of my efforts had truly paid off.
In a blink my consciousness faded and I fell into the most comfortable sleep of my life.
Ring! Ring!
There's no way
My peaceful sleep was interrupted by the nonstop ringing of my alarm clock. Another day had begun…
And another chapter had to be written.
END
