Kalleon saw his people lining up in his living room at night.
"I'm sure you're wondering why they've called you here at this hour." Kalleon said in a cold voice as he was sitting in his chair while eyeing every person in front of him.
"Forgive me, Your Grace, but I don't recall Her Highness going out of her room before Lady Crizelda went here, and she told me that you insist Her Highness should take her lessons today." Bisnna said as she got attention, which made Kalleon Frown.
"I will ask you all one question and I need you to answer me honestly." He continued as he stood from his seat.
They all looked curious at what he was about to say.
"Now, who was the person who was with my daughter this afternoon?" he asked, as he didn't assign it to NaviNavia; he knew she was still longing for her old nanny, who was also killed when they were massacred by assassins in their home.
His wife and nanny died protecting the kids, and all the servants there were killed.
"I—it's
It's me, Your Grace."
He looked at the maid who said those words, and he knew her; she was the niece of their old nanny who died back then, and as far as he knew, she was serving them on their estate in the capital.
"What's your name?" he asked without emotions on his face or in his voice as he asked the maid who to step out.
"My name is Bisnna, Your Grace, she said nervously, and I could see her trembling while she was bowing her head.
"Now, tell me..." he began, looking at the maid, "Did you notice something that happened to my daughter this afternoon?"
"I—I assisted Her Highness with her lesson alongside Lady Crizelda a while ago," said the maid named Bisnna to him.
Kalleon placed his hand on the handle of his chair.
"Did Navsendend send anyone from your side to get Lady Crizelda?" he asked, recalling that Lady Crizelda had informed him it was Navia who insisted on having their lesson even after being on the brink of death.
Kalleon saw his people look at each other as if they were asking who the person she sent to get Lady Crizelda was.
"Forgive me, Your Grace for answering, but as far as I remember, Her Highness didn't go out from her room or send anyone except for when Lady Crizelda came here and insisted that Her Highness have her lessons with her today, like what you told her to do." Bisnnaanswered,d, which got his attention and made his browsrise
"That's different from what I heard. Lady Crizelda said she was summoned to her home, as Navia sent someone to get her there and she insisted on having lessons today, if what you said is true... then you must know what happened to my daughter this afternoon?" Kalleon said as he was asking the maid, who claimed that she was with his daughter all day.
Did Lady Crizelda lie to him?
"What happened before my daughter collapsed?" he asked as he sighed. If he confirms what is on his mind, he will make sure that person pays it back tenfold.
"I saw Lady Crizelda come out from the room where they were having some lesson; she was holding some sticks while she was walking. When I entered the room... I saw Her Highness, who was on the floor and seemedd to betrembling. I asked her what happened, but it seems like she didn't even hear me." The maid said these words while bowing her head again.
Kalleon formed his hand into a fist and gripped it hard.
"You may go," he said to his people, who sighed in relief when he dismissed them.
Kalleon called Gasper, who was not far from him.
"Gather the other knights and we will go to the Count's house," he said as he stood up from where he was sitting and looked like he was ready to kill someone.
He never touched any of his children, despite their apparent distance from one another.
But there are really some people who have the nerve to hurt the people he loved.
-------------
Rion was strolling around the palace, taking in his surroundings and maintaining a constant state of alertness.
The palace is not a place that anyone should aspire to; it has been a site of bloodshed for him and his family.
He was the empress's only son and the twelfth prince, but that didn't guarantee him the crown.
The emperor was a violent tyrant; he forced his sons to kill each other in order to determine who would be his rightful heir. The imperial doesn't have any abilities, and that was because of what his descendant did back then when the first was in their empire stroke.
His descendants became greedy and monopolized all the blessings by killing those who received some as well.
"Your Highness," he looked at the person who greeted him.
His father's fifth wife was accompanying the tenth prince, who looked at him as if he intended to kill him.
Although they are capable of killing each other, their father has designated specific times and places for such actions.
His mother told him to hide his abilities and just rely on his strength in swordsmanship.
His uncle, who was also a duke of the west side, trained him from his mother's side.
"I heard from his majesty that you will go to Marquis Broxstin's house." Lady Birgins said this while smiling at me.
I know that smile.
Lady Birgins came from a very powerful family here in the empire; her son, the only son that she has, also has the same thinking as her; they were manipulative and sneaky, just like the snake.
I didn't answer her and instead I just turned my back on him.
"That Bastard! Who does he think he is? Does he think he's going to be the emperor?" He heard her exclaim it while she was stamping her feet in a manner reminiscent of a child behind him.
Rion, her son, sensed Maurice's disapproval.
He and Maurice had been competing with each other for everything.
However, the difference between them is that Rion opposed his father's idea of killing his other siblings, while Maurice supported it, which is why Maurice was slightly favored by the emperor and doted on by their mother.
There are many times in his life that he wished to kill his father to end everything, but he still can't do anything; he is still too weak for him.
The emperor was born with the abilities, but they were weaker than those of their descendants.
He gazed at the horse waiting for him and leaped onto its back.
He holds the reins and gently makes the horse run.
