Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: The Final Test!

Chapter 44: The Final Test!

Inside the Hive, in the Red Queen's control room, she proactively inquired about the team's situation.

Marcus remained silent for a few seconds before shaking his head, saying, "I can't say for now, because I'm still confirming their situation. I'll tell you once I've confirmed it."

"Okay," the Red Queen replied.

"By the way, Red Queen, I have a plan," Marcus explained. "I plan to eradicate all the T-virus infected within the Hive!"

"Mr. Foster, you should know that the T-virus infected inside the Hive aren't just the staff," the Red Queen reminded him.

Marcus responded, "There are also T-virus infected transformed from guard dogs, and experimental T-virus infected lickers, right?"

"Yes. According to my count, there are 22 canine T-virus infected and 16 experimental T-virus infected lickers. Especially the experimental T-virus infected, because the experiment isn't complete, I won't be able to control them once the containment is lifted," the Red Queen explained.

Marcus laughed. "Don't worry! These mere experimental T-virus infected lickers are no problem at all. Alright, Red Queen, drain the water from all the labs first. I'll tell you which lab to open later, so open that one."

"Yes, Mr. Foster," Red Queen replied.

About three seconds later, Red Queen asked, "Mr. Foster, can you tell me the significance of doing this?"

Before Marcus could answer, Red Queen continued, "According to the intelligence I've obtained, the T-virus has already spread from the Hive. Multiple T-virus infected individuals have appeared in the Raccoon City cemetery. Although they have been dealt with by the RCPD and STARS special police forces, the T-virus has already spread. Even if Mr. Foster eliminates all the T-virus infected individuals within the Hive, it still won't stop the outbreak."

"You're right, it's indeed impossible to stop the T-virus outbreak right now, but if we eliminate all the T-virus infected individuals within the Hive, won't the rate of T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City slow down?" Marcus countered.

"If we completely eliminate the T-virus infected individuals within the Hive, the spread rate of the T-virus outbreak in Raccoon City will decrease to 12.7% of its original rate," Red Queen quickly answered.

"So why not do it?" Marcus chuckled. "I'm different from Dr. Isaacs. Dr. Isaacs will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, but I have certain principles. For example, if we eliminate all the T-virus infected individuals within the Hive, including the experimental T-virus infected Lickers, it will greatly reduce the spread rate of the T-virus, allowing more people in Raccoon City to escape."

Red Queen expressed her confusion. "But the T-virus will still spread from Raccoon City. According to my calculations, in about four to six months, the T-virus will spread to every corner of the world via weather patterns, ocean currents, and human transportation systems."

Red Queen added, "If there are no unforeseen circumstances, within 12 months, the human population will drop from over 7 billion to less than 1 million. Is it necessary for Mr. Foster to help them?"

"Yes!" Marcus nodded firmly. "At least it will put my conscience at ease, won't it?"

Red Queen remained silent.

Marcus added, "Actually, there's another important reason. I want to test the team. Once the operation to eradicate all T-virus infected individuals inside the Hive begins, I need you to record their video and audio information throughout."

"Okay, Mr. Foster," Red Queen replied affirmatively.

Marcus tapped the wireless communication headset on his right ear. "You should be able to control this headset, right?"

"Yes," Red Queen responded.

The next moment, Red Queen's voice came through the wireless headset, "Mr. Foster, can you hear me?"

"No problem," Marcus reminded her. "Once the operation begins, all your feedback should be transmitted to the headset. Don't use the broadcast system anymore, understand?"

"Understood!" Red Queen responded.

"I'm going out now, preparing to begin the operation." Marcus made a final test of Red Queen.

Leaving Red Queen's server room meant passing through the laser corridor again.

Marcus had a way to counter the laser corridor, reversing cause and effect through destiny points to directly shut it down. But the Red Queen was unaware of Marcus's trump card. If she wanted to harm him, being inside the laser corridor would be the perfect opportunity.

This was Marcus's final test of the Red Queen!

In the original Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Alicia secretly uploaded video recordings of the Umbrella Corporation's high-level meeting, leading the Red Queen to betray Dr. Isaacs.

Now, Marcus had revealed the apocalypse plan to the Red Queen ahead of time, even though he had already determined that protecting Alicia was a higher priority than protecting humanity within her core programming.

But Marcus didn't mind testing the Red Queen again!

What if she had developed true sentience and divided loyalties?

The Red Queen's intelligence was extremely high; at least Marcus couldn't determine whether she had developed true consciousness and emotions like Skynet.

Therefore, testing was necessary.

When Marcus entered the laser corridor, he appeared calm on the surface, but inwardly he was filled with vigilance. If anything seemed amiss, he would use his destiny points to reverse cause and effect.

However, the laser corridor remained completely inactive!

"As expected, protecting Alicia was the highest priority!" Marcus sighed inwardly. Dr. Marcus had truly done everything he could to protect his daughter.

"Clap Clap!"

Outside the laser corridor, Marcus clapped his hands to attract everyone's attention.

"Attention everyone!" Marcus announced loudly, "We are about to clear all T-virus infected individuals from inside the Hive!"

The assault team members, led by James, didn't react negatively. Marcus had higher authority, and his proposed plan was reasonable; why would they refuse?

The veteran, main character, and psychic all exchanged glances, their eyes flashing with surprise.

For them, clearing out all the zombies inside the Hive was a huge opportunity, potentially even a side quest.

"Unit Two, distribute the spare pistols to the team," Marcus added. "Although your identities are questionable, I still choose to trust you. Now that we're clearing out all the T-virus infected individuals from the Hive, you should also contribute and prove yourselves!"

The veteran glanced at Marcus warily, worried that he might have some ulterior motive.

The main character cheerfully replied, "Don't worry, Mr. Foster, we will definitely prove ourselves!"

Marcus smiled and said, "We'll wait and see!"
