CHAPTER 5 FROST ARCANE ART: ICE SPIKE!!!
It was a beautiful day for Rai jin, way too beautiful infact as his eyes ravaged the bodies of ladies as they passed by him, he seemed to care less about the strange and weird looks people were giving when he passed by them, especially women.
He had received some slaps and comments of pervert from some women when he stared too long, but that never seemed to deter him.
Rai manyan had to ask him a few times if he was ok, when he wouldn't stop uttering constants thoughts of'ooohhh' 'ahhhhhh' "oh my Goooood".
*Are you sure you are ok son?* Rai manyan asked.
"Hmmmm, yes dad, I have never been better"Rai jin answered grinning.
*is it something you are seeing?, I think the only reason why I can't share your vision or your other senses yet is because your nebula is not connected to your physical body yet, and so you have no way of sensing your magical properties* Rai manyan said.
"Ohhh, A nebula, I heard Teacher Ken talking about that, obviously we use it to channel magic, right father?"
*Yes Rai jin, looks like you are a good student, you obviously listen well to your teachers* Rai Manyan said, obviously pleased.
"Uhh, yes father, I am a very good student, my teacher's favourite student"Rai jin replied, crossing fingers behind his back as he approached the school gates.
The sun hovered just above the academy's gate, painting the sky with streaks of orange and gold.
Students in neatly pressed uniforms walked past the weathered archways of Donghai City magic academy, laughing, chatting, while some of the seniors who could already use magic, displayed spells that earned the attention and admiration of the first years.
Rai jin finally pulls off the glasses, as he recognizes Da lu and Mu lan from a distance. Not just them, a number of students were gathered round in a circle, seemingly watching a spectacle.
Rai jin moves closer, and silently taps them both on the shoulder.
"What is going on?"
"It's a fight" Da lu replied.
"Man, you need to see this, though Lin kai might be a disappointment to his family's legacy, his brother is got some balls" Mu lan said pulling Rai jin closer.
Two second year students were currently locked in battle, one of them was a very broad man, he looked old, way older than the rest of the students, Rai jin concluded he must be Zhi hao, the uncle second year student, he usually heard about.
It was not everyday one could witness a duel between two skilled Mages and so, the duel garnered a lot of attention from passers-by. There was now growing crowd surrounding them from all sides.
Zhi hao was a tall man, he was well known for his amazing ice ability, even though he awakened later than other students of his class, he ended up awakening a strong ice element.
The other second year student was other person than Lin Wei, Lin kai's elder brother, a prodigy of Donghai city Magic Academy, he awakened a fire ability, one of the most powerful and destructive primary elements, he was certainly a handsome Man,but Rai jin was sure, Lin Wei was only 30 percent, compared to himself.
**afterall he was the greek god of handsomeness if something like that existed**
What made Lin Wei stood out among his peers was that he gained an elemental core ability when he unlocked his primary element. His elemental core ability made his fire two times hotter that it would normally be.
This means that Lin Wei's fire magic was two times hotter than that of any other ordinary primary fire mage.
An elemental core ability, is a special ability gained after unlocking a particular element, it was very rare for a mage to acquire one and so mages with an elemental core ability were deemed more powerful than those without,since they could use their magic in more unprecedented ways.
Lin Kai's family were an influential family, one of the top echelons of Donghai city, and they also had a prodigy son, this further ranked them higher among the powerful families in the city.
No-one wanted to offend a family who possessed a prodigy child that might end up becoming a powerful mage in the future.
And so this gave Lin kai a lot of confidence, he enjoyed the respected reverence other students gave him.
Until few months ago, when he was beaten by Rai jin, his only saving grace was that it had being in an enclosed space at the back of the school towards the forest. Only a few of his lackeys who had previously been a victim of Rai Jin's beating and Rai jin's friends.
How he hated Rai jin, Lin Kai knew he couldn't beat Rai jin in a fistfight, he also was too ashamed to ask his brother for help, and so he had decided to use his family's power against Rai jin.
He knew Rai jin came from a wretched family, and would instantly crumble under the force of his family's influence but Mu lan had resisted his family's influence and shielded Raijin under his family.
This made it difficult for LIn kai to exert any influence on Rai jin, as Mu lan's family's
Was also a top class family in Donghai city, owning several businesses that even the Lin's family benefited from.
Since then his hatred for Raijin had only continued to intensify, he was waiting for the magical awakening. He does not expect a low life like Rai jin to awaken any powerful element, if he awakened any at all.
And so when he awakens a powerful Fire element like his brother Lin Wei, Rai jin would be the first thing he cooks for dinner.
The two second year students were obviously not having a fight to the death, it was just a normal duel that was allowed by the school, in order for students to get used to their abilities.
They were currently exchanging blows, Mages were expected to also learn some form of basic defence in form of hand to hand combat, in order to protect themselves better during a fight, and so that was what they were currently doing.
Zhi hao sent a flying kick towards Lin Wei's knee, he was quick to dodge and sent a punch of his own flying towards Zhi hao's face.
Zhi hao winced but twisted into a backhand strike, clipping Lin Wei across the face.
"Nice" Lin Wei said rubbing his cheek. "You hit like a child"
Lin Wei demonstrated why he was recognised as a prodigy child, even though his opponent had a bigger frame and was better buit than him, he was able to use Zhi hao's own momentum against him.
"Ok, let's see you handle this" Zhi hao said in a low voice jumping back a few steps as he prepared to cast a spell.
A faint blue hue started glow in his eyes, a giant spell formation appeared before his outstretched hands.
He began to channel the elemental energy around him into his body. His Nebula the swirling core of magical energy began to rotate gently, drawing in the ice affinity particles from the air.
Zhi hao traced the spell formation in the air with his fingers, it resembled a triangular symbol with curling frost runes at each edge.
This formation served as the catalyst for the spell, acting like a key to unlock a specific reaction from his magic array. All these happened in less than a few seconds and then with a whisper:
"Frost Arcane art: Ice Spike!"
The formation shattered like glass, and from the ground beneath Lin Wei, a giant sharp spike made of ice exploded upward, cold, glistening and deadly.
