35: Chapter 35 KayaLuffy, looking at the lying boy before him, laughed and said, "Wow, eight thousand people! How terrifying!" Nami, without hesitation, exposed Usopp's lie; there were actually only three. The three children behind Usopp, hearing this, fled like startled birds, leaving only Usopp trembling in place.Usopp swallowed hard, mustered his courage, pulled a slingshot from his backpack, picked up a pebble, aimed at Luffy and the others, and said, "You pirates, prepare yourselves!I'll protect this village!" Luffy, gripping the edge of his straw hat with one hand, replied, "Are you ready?Ready to risk your life?"
"What?" Usopp asked in confusion."Since you've drawn your gun, risk your life. The ones in front of you are real pirates, not child's play pirates," Luffy said in a deep voice.Usopp's legs went weak, and he collapsed to the ground, muttering to himself, "I really can't compare to real pirates." Luffy then said, "You must be Usopp.Your father, Yasopp, often mentions you to me."
Usopp asked in surprise, "You know my dad?"
"Ah, he visited my village when I was a child, and he often told me that he had a son in Xirob village who was about my age, and his most distinctive feature was his long nose."
"Come with me to the village first, I'll treat you to a meal.By the way, I still don't know your name."
"Okay, my name is Monkey D.Luffy, and this is Zoro, this is Coby, and this is Nami, the temporary navigator," Luffy introduced everyone to Usopp. Before long, Luffy and the others followed Usopp to the village tavern.During the meal, Usopp asked Luffy, "So, do you know where my father is now?"
"He should be on the Grand Line right now.By the way, he's a sniper in the Red-Haired Pirates.Your father's sniping skills are truly amazing. He can shoot an apple apart from that distance with just a pistol. He also said he can hit an ant's antennae from a hundred feet away without damaging the rest of its body," Luffy praised."Really?" Usopp asked excitedly."By the way, Usopp, why do you want to be a pirate so much?" Coby asked."Because," Usopp said, lost in thought, "Although everyone says he's a bastard who abandoned his wife and children, and he wasn't there when my mother died, I don't hate him.Because he's a man who cherishes the spirit of freedom. He once said that the pirate flag is calling me, and that sentence has inspired me so much.So I want to become a warrior of the sea like him."
"By the way, Usopp, do you have any big ships here?As you can see, our ship is far too small. We need a bigger ship to sail the seas," Nami said. But Usopp replied helplessly, "I'm afraid that won't work. You can see how small this village is; where would we find a big ship?" Zoro, who was drinking nearby, said, "There seems to be a big villa on that hill over there." Nami then chimed in, "Is it a friend of Usopp's?Could he help us out by contributing some money?"
Usopp panicked and quickly stopped him, saying, "No, no, absolutely not there!" Then, realizing his tone was inappropriate, he hurriedly said, "I suddenly remembered I have something to do.I have to go now.I know the owner of this place well, please eat as much as you like." With that, Usopp rushed out of the tavern, leaving Zoro and the others looking at each other in bewilderment.Meanwhile, in the villa on the mountain, a blonde girl reclining on the bed asked a bespectacled, refined man, "When can I see Mr.Usopp?" The man replied, "That's impossible.I won't let Miss Kaya see that braggart.Besides, your parents instructed me to protect you." Kaya said pitifully, "But." The man interrupted her, "I've put your medicine here.Remember to take it on time."
After speaking, the man pushed open the door and left, leaving Kaya alone in the room, heartbroken.Once outside, his previously gentle expression instantly darkened."Soon, just a little bit more, and I'll have immense wealth. No one can stop me."
