"We have to go now!" Thomas shouted
The trio started running toward the entrance
Thomas was first
Autumn was second
Leo was last
Just as they were about to reach the entrance,
A robot stepped through
Blocking the light seeping through the entrance
Yellow eyes, a human shaped frame, and it's whole body made of metal
It scanned the room
Then raised its hand
A small missile slid out of its knuckles
Before it could fire,
Thomas threw a fireball in its face
Mostly harmless, but the flames burst apart against its face
In that split second
Autumn flew forward and kicked it out of the way
The trio exited the cave
Thomas looked left, then right
"Let's go!" He pointed to the right
They were running deeper into the woods
Vibrant trees surrounded them
There were logs in the way
Even a deer with violet horns jumped past them
Autumn flew a little faster ahead of them
Leo ran closer to Thomas
"Why are we running from a robot!?" He asked
Thomas skidded around a corner
He slid behind a tree peeking around it
Panting softly
Autumn stopped farther ahead
But she was in the opening
Hovering just above the ground
Leo hid behind a tree
"We are not hiding from robots" Thomas answered
"We'll be lucky if it's robots" he added
Suddenly, Autumn darted into a patch of bushes
Thomas hid completely behind the tree
The trees shook violently
Birds burst from the tree, squawking wildly
One by one the tremors grew closer
Two deer ran past
Suddenly
Something landed in a tree beside the bush Autumn was hiding in
An Asian boy
Kaito
Yellow eyes, thin cracks traces across his face
A gentle breeze swayed the branch beneath him
Yet he stood tall, his hair blowing gently in the wind
He turned, scanning the environment
Something about this boy felt familiar
Instantly a picture flickered in Leo's mind
He saw a pale man, in a lab coat smirking
He held a vial in his hands with a golden liquid inside
He watched as the man dropped the vial, breaking it
Slowly, the golden liquid moved and formed into a boy
The memory was all too vague
'You can't remember'
Words appeared, dripping with blood
Before Leo knew it, he was snapped back to reality
He could barely register what happened
Or why he was so shaken up
Thomas was behind the tree panicking
As soon as Kaito looked their way
It was as if Kaito sensed them
He stared directly at the tree
Thomas held his breath
Kaito landed and started walking closer
Leo clenched his fist
Before Kaito was halfway there
A small explosion echoed in the way he was heading earlier
A beast-like roar echoed through the forest
Dust rose into the air
He turned
He dashed to the next tree
Heading towards the explosion
Thomas breathed heavily
Autumn popped out of the bush
"Let's keep moving"
Thomas sighed
Thomas was about to move
When Autumn signaled to stop
She was hiding behind a tree
Heavy metallic footsteps were heard
Two Robots appeared, sprinting towards the explosion
They stopped at the spot where Kaito once was
Panels on their backs opened with a hiss
Yellow energy gathered inside with a soft hum
Suddenly they launched into the air
Their engines whined like jet turbines
Thomas looked at Autumn
And she signaled with a nod
The trio came out of hiding
"They keep finding us" Autumn said "Why?"
"Something must be giving us away" Thomas clenched his teeth frustratingly
Before anymore was said
A missile-like impact thundered through the forest.
The ground shook violently
Followed by an explosion
A shockwave blasted past them
The trees swayed violently
Leaves and grass whipped through the air
The trio exchanged glances amongst themselves
No one needed to say a word
They all started running
Heavy breathing accompanied every step
The forest was getting less vibrant and more natural
Autumn flew along with them
Swerving between branches and trees
They ran and ran
Until they reached a small circular clearing
They were all panting
Their hearts pounded in their chest
"Okay who are those guys?!"
"Why are they after us!?" Leo asked
"They've been after us from day one" Thomas panted
"Remember that Alwich guy? yeah that's him" he added
Leo's vision doubled
He fell to one knee
"What's wrong" Thomas asked
"I'm dizzy"
Suddenly, something shifted into the trees
Autumn turned
The clearing was small. Everywhere else was nothing but trees and thick bush
A place where others could see them, but they couldn't see back
"Um guys?" She called
She kept looking around
Leo was still on his knees
And Thomas was trying to pull him up
She felt it again
Another branch shifted
She floated off the ground slowly
"Guys?" She called again
"What?" Thomas asked having pulled up Leo
"Why are we in a clearing?" She asked
The two stayed silent as if processing
Thomas stroked his chin twice
Another branch shook behind him
He had just realized how awfully silent the forest was
Slightly his eyes widened
"Oh..fu–"
Before he could finish
Multiple figures burst out of the forest
Their shadows blocked the sun
Leo looked up before he could react
Something heavy fell on him
The next thing he knew he was sliding on his back
While something rested onto him
The thing rode him like a skate board
Fist rained down on his face as he slid
Instantly drawing his blood
THOMAS'S POV
Leo disappeared before he knew it
Robots landed beside him
Hands forming into weapons and blasters
Thomas started backing up
But his back met Autumn's
"Oh.." he muttered
Thomas spread his hand apart
Flames slowly engulfed both of them
"Autumn..let's make this quick" he said
"Right!"
With a roar they charged
LEO'S POV
Leo was getting punched non-stop
Every hit racked the wound in his forehead
It was like his skull was having its own earthquake
It felt like his skull was splitting apart
"Raaagh!!" Leo grabbed the figure, twisted, and threw him off
Leo stopped sliding
He could feel blood running from his nose
He couldn't feel his molar either
His head felt like it had a heart of its own, beating rhythmically
Leo groaned, twisting and standing up
It took awhile for his doubled vision to normalize
A very familiar creature stood in front of him
Bald head, cracked face, yellow eyes, and a very big grin
His muscles bulged beneath his grey skin
It was Boris
"Surprised to see me?" He asked
"What?" Leo asked
Boris lounged forward, his fist aimed straight for Leo's face
Instinctively Leo blocked
The impact slammed into his arms, forcing him backwards
Boris followed up with a right hook
Leo blocked, fighting to hold his ground
Suddenly Boris grabbed Leo's hand
Pulling him closer
Then smashed his forehead into Leo's nose
Leo screamed in pain as blood flew
Boris still held his hands
He pulled Leo closer
Driving his fist into Leo's stomachs
Leo spat blood as he dropped to his knees
Boris's big grin faded
"How the hell did you get so weak?"
He grabbed Leo by the hair, raising him up
Boris stared deep into his face
Soon a smirk appeared on his lips
"Or did I get stronger?" A grin spread across his face
He punched Leo to the floor
"Hehehheh" The monster grinned
Leo recovered and charged
He threw the first punch
Boris blocked, then backhanded Leo
Leo spun trying to counter
But got another gut punch
Leo crashed to the floor coughing up blood
Boris wasn't smiling again
"You're no fun" he said
He was just about to pick Leo up
Thomas boosted forward and slammed his fist into Boris's jaw
Making him back up
Thomas didn't waste any time
He boosted himself with flames
And threw a flaming right hook
Boris blocked
Thomas followed up with an uppercut
Boris backed up again
But Thomas gave him two more hits
One to the gut and one to the cheek
This time Boris caught both Thomas's fist
He smirked
"Aaaagh!" Thomas roared
Flames erupted from Thomas's mouth blasting Boris backward
Boris started holding his face as the blast scorched him
"Now!" Thomas shouted
Suddenly Autumn swooped in picking up Boris with a heavy grunt
She rose higher
Suddenly Boris twisted and swung at her midair
Autumn released him then flew under grabbing him by the leg
Going higher
Boris tried kicking her
But Autumn moved and flew behind his back
Pushing him higher
Each time with a heavy grunt
Boris twisted
But she moved first
She flew toward his legs and started spinning him midair
She spun and threw him
Boris screamed swinging wildly as he falls
Autumn was panting heavily
Hovering midair
She descended
Thomas had Leo rested on his back
They moved off immediately
KAITO'S POV
He was jumping from tree to tree
With a few robots flying behind him
They were forming up on the chaos they heard
Just ahead
Just as he was getting close
He heard screaming
He looked up
And there Boris was falling towards them
"Aaaaaaagh!!!" Boris screamed
Immediately Kaito dashed out of his way
Boris crashed into the tree
And into the ground cracking it
He rolled and grazed the vegetation below him
"Ugghh" he groaned
Kaito turned to look at him
...
Boris seemed to have crushed the remaining robots
He was flat on two of them
There was another without a lower body
And one without a head
...
Kaito narrowed his eyes
Boris groaned as he stood, shaking his head
He stood up
"I think they got away.." He muttered not looking at Kaito
....
Kaito tilted his head
LEO'S POV
They were long gone
The trio trudged through the forest quickly
Leo was being supported by Thomas's
Shoulder
"Your bleeding all over me" Thomas said
Leo's blood drained and soaked well into Thomas's shirt
"Like I can... help it" Leo answered
'You're getting closer'
The words dripping with blood appeared again
Autumn was scouting ahead
She flew back towards them
"There's a fork in the road" She said
Thomas nodded
"Maybe now we can lose them"
Soon they met the fork
On the right side was a path leading into a forest
But it was very dark and silent..the fog there moved unnaturally
It was almost mystical
The left path had a forest..but it looked normal
Automatically the trio started walking
Left
'Take the right'
"Wait..let's take the right" Leo pointed
"What?! Why the hell would I go right?" Thomas asked
"Because...because it's safer"
"Huh?" Both Autumn and Thomas looked at him in confusion
"This world is fucked, as you said earlier" he continued
"What if it's inverted? the good looks bad, and the bad looks good." Leo finished
Autumn looked at both forests
"He has a point"
"Tsk" Thomas hissed his teeth
He looked at both forests anxiously
"I swear...to god" he muttered
Before he started walking towards the left
'Yes you're getting closer..Leo'
