The air feels different this time—heavier, as if the world already knows the game has changed.
The second target is even more critical.
A GAPA headquarters, located deep within a remote mountain range.
It houses one of the highest levels of their synchronization research—a facility focused on creating superior Wardens with artificially enhanced synchronization rates.
It's a hub of pure control.
The plan:
Disable the control systems
Leak the research data
Prevent GAPA from stabilizing the next generation of Wardens.
Phase One — Infiltration
Lys stands at the edge of the mountains, gazing at the distant facility hidden in the valley below. The team is assembled, moving in perfect silence.
Rafael leads them, his body a blur of motion as they slip through the wilderness like shadows, avoiding satellite detection, cutting through the air without a sound.
They've done this before. They know the rhythm.
The team splits into smaller groups:
Lys, Valerius, and Nyra go for the central data core.
Rafael, Kaede, and Elda handle external defense systems.
They slip past the perimeter guards, avoiding high-tech traps, manipulating the Aetherium flow around them to remain invisible to both tech and human eyes.
They've been here for a while.
They reach the gates of the facility without alerting anyone.
Valerius steps forward, drawing his blade in one smooth motion. With a single strike, he cuts through the reinforced gates like paper.
Rafael moves through the opening first, his momentum tearing the air as he scans the interior.
"Clear. Move," he whispers.
The team enters, and for a brief moment, they feel like ghosts, unnoticed, untouchable.
Lys can feel the Aetherium pulse in the air—tension, as if the facility itself is fighting to hold onto its secrets.
They spread out.
Lys leads the way to the central control room, his claws subtly extending as he prepares for what's coming next.
The data core is massive, its energy suffusing the facility like a beating heart. Lys feels the familiar hum of disruption building within him. The energy here is rife for collapse, a web of interconnected systems that, when severed, will bring the facility to its knees.
Valerius and Nyra stand guard, their eyes alert as Lys approaches the core.
Lys steps forward. The hum of Aetherium vibrates against his skin.
Before Lys can make his move, the energy shifts—the room suddenly feels off. His instinct tells him something is wrong.
"It's too quiet," Lys mutters under his breath.
Then—
A distortion in the air.
A crack in reality.
The ground trembles.
A voice—Kareth's—echoes in the air.
"It's amazing," Kareth calls out casually, stepping out of a rift in the space around them.
"You think you're the only ones who can break things?"
His presence fractures the space.
Lys doesn't flinch, but his muscles tighten in response. Kareth's distortion is a palpable weight, twisting reality and creating an oppressive presence.
"You're a little far from home, aren't you, Lys?" Kareth says, his tone almost taunting.
"Still playing the hero? Or are you just collecting trophies?"
Valerius steps forward, drawing his sword in one smooth motion.
"Stay out of this, Kareth," Valerius warns, his voice like steel.
Kareth laughs softly.
"You think you can stop me?" he says with a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.
"I don't play by your rules."
With a flick of his wrist, reality itself bends. Kareth unleashes a wave of distortion at the team, an attack designed to twist the space around them, disorienting them and warping their perceptions.
The Eclipse Awakens
News of the Eclipse's awakening reaches the group in a flash—GAPA has activated the last line of defense: an Eclipse that has evolved beyond their understanding. This new Eclipse is darker, more intelligent, and, according to the data, completely capable of erasing reality itself.
Kaede's voice crackles over the comms.
"Lys, we can't fight this one with what we have. It's evolved. We need to break through to your true form. It's the only way to keep it from destroying everything."
Lys knows it's time.
"You think I'm ready for this?" he asks, but the question isn't rhetorical.
Rafael's response is blunt.
"You're the only one who can stop it now. Don't hesitate."
They move to an isolated highland—a place that resonates with Aetherium flow. Lys stands at the center, alone.
Anika approaches him quietly, her expression unreadable.
"This is your choice, Lys. The true Seraphim Ascension."
Lys feels his heart race. He's felt the power brewing within him, but he's always held it back. It's raw, dangerous.
It's time.
"I won't hesitate," Lys mutters, his voice hardening.
Kaede begins the chant—low and rhythmic, pulling the surrounding Aetherium into alignment. The words are old, ancient, and deeply tied to the Aetherium's natural flow. They unlock the gate inside Lys that has remained dormant, his full transformation tied to the core of his existence as an Incarnation.
Lys's body shudders. His skin begins to glow faintly—green, then gold, then pure light.
For a moment, the world around him disappears.
Lys is floating.
His body warps, his form stretching and changing, not just physically, but mentally.
A massive, awe-inspiring energy floods through him. His Aetherium bursts outward, wrapping around him in a cocoon of energy, solidifying and refining his form.
His claws extend beyond their previous limits. His teeth sharpen, glowing with the energy of the transformation.
His tail grows longer, stronger, with a lethal curve that matches his new power.
Then, something new.
His wings—glowing, ethereal, and massive—burst from his back, shimmering with a fusion of light and shadow, their span reaching over twenty feet.
His eyes, once green, now shine like pure gold, revealing an unimaginable depth of power. He is no longer just a fighter. He is a force.
This is his Seraphim Ascension—his true form, unlocked by his will to survive.
As the transformation completes, Lys takes a slow, controlled breath. He feels the immense power flowing through him. But more importantly, he feels balance. This is a power that was always inside him, waiting to be freed.
Lys's voice comes out calm, almost cold.
"Let's go."
The team moves to intercept the Eclipse—it's a massive, dark sphere that hovers just above the horizon, warping space and time around it.
As they approach, Lys feels the familiar distortion, the overwhelming presence of the Eclipse.
He stands tall at the front, his wings slightly extended. The world seems to bend beneath his feet. The Aetherium in the air responds to him like a living thing, vibrating in harmony with his new form.
The Eclipse shifts, its massive tendrils of void energy reaching out. The ground beneath them begins to shatter, and the atmosphere cracks with the weight of its presence. The Eclipse lets out a low rumble, its voice distorted and chaotic.
"So… you think you can challenge me now?" the Eclipse's voice rings out, a cacophony of distorted sounds layered on top of each other.
Lys's golden eyes narrow.
"I don't think," he replies coolly. "I know."
With a single step, Lys charges.
The ground beneath him fractures, but he's already there.
The battle is like nothing they've faced before. Lys's Aetherium pulse intensifies, swirling around him, forming a barrier of light that deflects the Eclipse's dark energy. His wings beat, sending shockwaves through the air as he flies at the Eclipse's core.
The Eclipse's energy cracks the sky, sending massive waves of void destruction toward Lys. But he weaves through it, dodging and absorbing the energy into his own form, redirecting it.
His tail slashes through the air, a deadly, curved weapon that carves through the Eclipse's tendrils, severing them like nothing.
Then—he unleashes the full force of his Seraphim Breath, a beam of pure green energy, focused and compressed into an unstoppable spear.
The Eclipse screams, its form warping and shuddering. The beam pierces its core, and for a moment, the world holds its breath
The Eclipse collapses, dissolving into nothingness, its energy scattered across the landscape. The void fades, leaving a clearing of peace in its wake.
Lys lands gracefully, his wings folding behind him, the golden light still radiating from his body.
The team approaches, their faces a mixture of awe and relief.
Rafael steps forward, a grin spreading across his face.
"You really did it, huh?"
Lys looks up at the horizon, his form still glowing faintly, his golden eyes softening.
"We did it."
But Lys knows something the others don't. This form takes a toll. His body is still recovering, and while he won, the strain of maintaining his full transformation is already starting to show. He has not mastered this power yet—it's still volatile, dangerous.
"We need to prepare," he mutters, his voice filled with quiet resolve.
"The world will change after this. The Eclipse won't stop sending these."
But for now, they've won.
They've taken a step towards shaping the world instead of reacting to it.
