Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: Sovereign Return

In the shadowed depths of the Void, the Eclipse King stood before his throne, his eyes glowing with an unnatural light. The time manipulation chaos caused by Kheara and Caleum had thrown everything into disarray, but this was no accident—it was all part of his grand plan.

The King turned his gaze toward the far reaches of the Void, where the Sovereign—the Eclipse that had personally killed Lys—had been lying in wait, ready for the right moment to strike.

"Kheara and Caleum are formidable, but they are not invincible. The time to act is now," the Eclipse King murmured, his voice cold and calculating. "The world must burn, and only those of us who embrace true power will survive."

He extended his hand, and in an instant, a ripple of darkness spread across the Void, coalescing into the form of the Sovereign. The Sovereign, a massive and imposing figure, had once struck down Lys in battle, but now the King had other plans.

"It's time, Sovereign," the Eclipse King said, his voice sharp. "You will face the two forces who threaten the stability of this world—Caleum and Kheara. Your mission is simple: Destroy them both and reclaim your dominance. Let them see the true power of the Eclipses."

The Sovereign's eyes glowed with dark energy, and he nodded. His body crackled with the immense darkness that surrounded him, his aura like a shadow that stretched out across the battlefield. He was more than a weapon; he was a force of pure destruction.

"It will be done," the Sovereign said, his voice deep and resonant. "The storm and the time-warping fool will fall before me."

As the storm raged and time warped in the battle between Caleum and Kheara, the Sovereign appeared on the horizon, stepping through the shifting reality that the Void had created. His appearance alone caused the air to thicken with darkness, the very ground beneath him shaking with the weight of his power.

Caleum felt it first—the presence of the Sovereign. It was a dark, oppressive force, one that resonated with the very fabric of existence, like a black hole that consumed everything around it.

"The Sovereign…" Caleum muttered, his wings flaring out as he looked toward the new threat. "I've heard of him. The one who killed Lys."

Kheara, for his part, seemed to recognize the Sovereign's presence as well. His expression grew even colder, and his form flickered briefly as time around him twisted.

"The Sovereign is here… but he's not the only one who can bend time," Kheara said, his voice low but full of malice.

Lys, who had been feeling the tension rise from afar, sensed the dark energy of the Sovereign too. He had been tracking the battle, but now his attention was diverted. The Sovereign's power was unmistakable—it was the same force that had brought his own death.

Lys gritted his teeth. He would not let the Sovereign destroy anyone else.

Lys, now changed and more powerful than before, emerged from the shadows, his form standing tall and defiant. The presence of the Sovereign was a personal call to action. He could feel the darkness creeping into his mind, the memories of his death at the Sovereign's hands flooding back. But he had learned much since then.

He clenched his fists, his claws digging into his palms as he stared at the Sovereign.

"You again," Lys said, his voice low and filled with anger. "I won't let you take anyone else. Not again."

The Sovereign turned his head, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he saw Lys standing there.

"Lys Arken, the ghost who rose from the ashes," the Sovereign sneered. "I killed you once. I will do so again."

Lys narrowed his eyes. He could feel the raging storm from Caleum, and the time warps surrounding Kheara. The battlefield was now three-pronged, but this was personal. He wasn't just fighting for survival—he was fighting for justice, to make the Sovereign pay for what he had done.

"This time, I'm stronger," Lys growled. "And I'll make sure you stay down."

Lys's eyes narrowed. The Sovereign's power had taken him by surprise once before, but he wasn't the same man he once was. His body was no longer just human; the chaos that ran through his veins now pulsed with the energy of the storm—of Caleum's influence, and his own growth.

Lys felt the power inside him surge—the lightning coursing through his veins, his claws lengthening as his true form began to manifest. His tail flicked behind him, his sharp teeth bared in a snarl. He had one thing in mind: revenge.

With a sudden roar, Lys launched himself toward the Sovereign, his body flickering with electrical energy as he closed the gap between them. Lightning shot from his hands, tearing through the air and striking the Sovereign's dark aura, but the Sovereign was unfazed.

The Sovereign lifted his hand, his dark energy surrounding him like a shield. The lightning collided with it, but the darkness absorbed the strike, dissipating the energy as if it were nothing.

"You think your petty storm can harm me?" The Sovereign chuckled, his form flickering and vanishing into shadow, only to reappear right behind Lys.

Before Lys could react, the Sovereign's fist crashed into his back, sending him flying across the field. Lys grunted in pain, his body skidding against the ground as the dark energy clung to him, trying to drain his strength.

Lys rolled to his feet quickly, shaking off the shock. The Sovereign was strong—stronger than he had ever been—but Lys wasn't helpless. He had learned. He had grown.

"You may have killed me once, but this time, I won't go down so easily," Lys growled through clenched teeth, his voice ferocious.

The Sovereign's dark smile grew wider as he slowly advanced toward Lys.

"You are nothing but a fleeting moment in time, Lys," the Sovereign said. "I am the one who controls destiny. No matter how much you fight, it will always be in my hands."

The darkness around the Sovereign began to swirl, like a storm cloud forming around him. From the center of the storm, energy blasts shot out toward Lys, who barely managed to dodge in time. Each blast left deep scars in the earth, and Lys could feel the intensity of the attack.

Lys's claws raked the ground, sparks of electricity shooting off his hands as he summoned the power of Caleum's storm. He leapt into the air, slashing at the Sovereign with his tail. The Sovereign staggered backward slightly, surprised by the speed of Lys's attack, but quickly regained his composure.

"You're still not fast enough," the Sovereign said coldly, raising his hand. The dark aura around him pulsed as time seemed to distort, slowing Lys's movements.

Lys gasped as he felt the time-warping effect tighten around him, his speed slowing as the Sovereign manipulated the very flow of time. Lys gritted his teeth and fought through it, but the Sovereign was closing in.

"You are nothing more than a fading spark," the Sovereign said, his voice dripping with disdain. "And sparks are meant to be snuffed out."

Lys could feel his strength draining as the Sovereign's time manipulation wrapped around him like chains. But deep inside him, something burned. A fire that wasn't going to let him fall here, not again.

Lys clenched his fists, his claws digging into the ground as lightning surged through his body in raging torrents. He let the storm energy grow, igniting his power to the highest point.

"I'm not done," Lys growled, his eyes glowing with electric fury.

In that moment, Lys channeled his energy into a single, devastating strike. His body surged with lightning, his claws glowing with electric power as he rushed toward the Sovereign.

The Sovereign raised his hand to stop him, but Lys was faster now. With a final roar, Lys slammed into the Sovereign's shield, sending a massive shockwave of electric energy that shattered the dark aura surrounding him.

The Sovereign staggered back, stunned by the force of the impact, but Lys didn't stop. He slashed through the air, cutting through the darkness, and delivered a final blow—a beam of pure lightning, infused with everything he had left.

The lightning pierced the Sovereign's defenses, and for a moment, time seemed to freeze. The Sovereign's form flickered, his expression one of disbelief as the electric current coursed through him.

The Sovereign's body crumbled, his dark energy dissipating into nothingness. For the first time, Lys stood victorious over the Eclipse who had killed him. He gasped for breath, the storm still raging around him, his body trembling from the effort.

The Sovereign lay still on the ground, his form decimated by the force of the lightning. Lys stood over him, panting heavily, the full weight of his revenge settling in.

"You're not going to take anyone else from me," Lys whispered, his voice hoarse.

But as the battlefield around him quieted, Lys knew this battle was far from over. The Eclipse King was still out there, and the war was just beginning.

As the sovereign crumbled it left Lys withe the words

" I will return"
