Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Outside the Kendo Club at Ritsugomu High School, it was eerily silent. Occasionally, a few wandering zombies would let out a roar before aimlessly resuming their patrol.

By a window inside the club, a pair of bright eyes suddenly appeared, observing the situation outside. A trace of annoyance flashed across them before the head was pulled back in.

Through the faint moonlight, one could see that it was a blond teenager who had peeked out. After observing the outside, he immediately tiptoed into a tightly sealed office.

"Gaa—"

"Zhi!"

As soon as he entered the room, a tachi glinting with cold light was pressed against his neck. A Beautiful Girl with light purple eyes calmly stared at the blond teenager.

The blond teenager was named Hayato Hayama, a second-year student. At the very beginning of the Apocalypse, he led his best friend Hachiman Hikigaya and his good friend Yumiko Miura out of the classroom.

Coincidentally, since it wasn't time for school yet, most students hadn't arrived, which gave them ample time to snatch some food from the school convenience store amidst the chaos.

Passing by the Kendo Club, they encountered Tendo Kisara, a first-year student. Eventually, they successfully hid in one of the club's rooms and sealed all the windows with a nail gun.

"Hayama-kun, how is it outside?"

Tendo Kisara, dressed in a black sailor uniform and holding a tachi, asked indifferently.

"It's still just as bad. And our food will only last for half a day at most."

In response to Tendo Kisara's question, Hayato Hayama pointed outside and shook his head, knowing that if they continued like this, they would definitely starve to death here.

As soon as he said this, Hachiman Hikigaya, with his somewhat dead-fish eyes, frowned, and even tears streamed down Yumiko Miura's face as she softly sobbed.

"Sigh, it seems we'll have to escape from school tomorrow. Hayama, Hikitani-kun, let's rush out of this school at six tomorrow morning, taking advantage of the daylight!"

Seemingly sensing the students' worries, Tendo Kisara put away her sword and quickly formulated a plan.

After all, they had no other choice. Hiding in the school was definitely not a wise decision; striving to survive was the most important thing.

"No, Tendo-san, escaping from school will be very dangerous! I don't want to die, do you have any other ideas?"

Yumiko Miura was very worried about Tendo Kisara's plan, fearing being caught and torn to shreds by the zombies.

"No, now it's either wait to die or rush out and live. What do you want to do? The choice is yours!"

After saying this, Tendo Kisara closed her eyes and remained silent.

Sometimes, Tendo Kisara felt that talking to these three idiots was a waste of time. She was surrounded by incompetent teammates, not a single reliable person.

Speaking of which, although Tendo Kisara was a first-year student, ever since joining the Kendo Club, she quickly secured the position of vice-captain and earned the recognition of the captain, Busujima Saeko.

If the Apocalypse hadn't descended so unexpectedly fast, Tendo Kisara might have even ranked in the national kendo competition; she was quite confident about that.

Hearing Tendo Kisara's words, Hayato Hayama and Yumiko Miura discussed it briefly and then agreed to her plan.

Soon, the next morning, around five-thirty.

After they finished a simple breakfast, Tendo Kisara called them over, pointed to the garage two hundred meters behind the Kendo Club's back door, and sternly explained her plan.

"The garage 200 meters away has my car. Once we start moving, you must follow closely. If you can't keep up, don't blame me."

As she spoke, Tendo Kisara scanned them with her pale green eyes and said nothing more.

"Understood!"

Gazing at Tendo Kisara's cold eyes, the three of them felt a chill in their hearts, but still nodded silently.

Next, it would undoubtedly be a journey of death, so they silently picked up their makeshift weapons, preparing to act.

Time passed minute by minute. As soon as dawn broke, Tendo Kisara quietly opened the door and threw a phone with a loudspeaker attached to the front door.

Immediately after, deafening music echoed throughout the entire Kendo Club.

"Roar!"

In the blink of an eye, the zombies in the school completely erupted, rushing towards the front. Seizing this excellent opportunity, they secretly ran out through the back door.

Along the way, they were very lucky not to encounter many zombies. Students in the teaching building desperately waved at them, hoping for rescue.

However, Tendo Kisara and the others were not fools, so they ignored them. Instead, they quickly started the car and sped out of the school, disregarding the students who were waving at them.

On the other side, Su Luo and his sister were still living a relaxed and comfortable life at home, completely unaware that a few Survivors had fortunately escaped from Ritsugomu High School, where they attended.

In the living room, Su Luo turned on the TV again and found that most of the previously breaking news had turned into white static. Only a few news channels were still operating.

It was clear that the zombies were advancing very quickly, and many places had already fallen. Soon, there would probably be no news reports at all.

"Sigh, it seems we can't stay here for more than two days. We'll probably need to leave within these two days."

Su Luo was quite helpless. If he hadn't known that staying in a big city was a dead end, they might still have chosen to stay at home.

Hearing Su Luo's words, his sister Kasugano Sora showed no trace of worry. She simply placed her fair, tender hand in his, holding it tightly.

"It's okay, as long as I can be with my brother—"

"—that's enough for me. I don't ask for anything else."

Sora wasn't afraid at all. She had already gotten what she wanted most, so she wasn't particularly afraid of death.

Sora's feelings were sincere and pure, warming Su Luo's heart and strengthening his resolve to live.

After some thought, Su Luo pulled Sora into his embrace, stroking her soft silver hair without a word, and the two of them enjoyed a rare moment of warmth.

Afterward, Sora's pretty face turned crimson, and she obediently returned to her original seat, occasionally looking at her brother, as if savoring Su Luo's scent.

"Alright, stop fooling around. Eat some ice cream and then rest quickly."

With that, Su Luo lightly snapped his fingers, and two boxes of ice cream, strawberry and vanilla flavored, suddenly appeared on the coffee table.

"Okay, I'll listen to big brother."

Sora readily agreed, picked up the strawberry-flavored ice cream, and ate it in big mouthfuls. The refreshing taste filled her with a strong sense of happiness.

Looking at his sister, who was like a greedy little cat, Su Luo shook his head helplessly. In his eyes, his sister Kasugano Sora was undoubtedly cute and irreplaceable. Her personality, without the weakness seen in the anime, had a unique charm.

In the future, Su Luo would need his sister more, so he didn't mind building a bit more favorability with her.

Chapter 9: Raiding the Convenience Store, an Unexpected Encounter with Tendo Kisara!

The next morning, Su Luo and Sora woke up early, had a simple breakfast, each picked up a handy weapon, pushed open the door, and walked out.

Along the way, it was still quiet outside. Apart from the zombies' howls, there was no other sound. Before long, they arrived at the iron gate in front of the villa.

"Sora, yesterday I checked the map and found two convenience stores in our vicinity. Since this area is close to the wealthy district, the amount of supplies there must be considerable."

When Su Luo reached the door, he pulled out a map from his embrace, pointing to circles he had drawn with a red pen at locations 300 meters and 500 meters away.

Since the residents of the nearby villa area couldn't have too many emergency food supplies, Su Luo had to set his sights on the nearby convenience stores to obtain more resources.

"I understand. Today, let's enjoy some happy 'zero-dollar shopping'!"

Sora smiled playfully, not thinking there was anything wrong with it.

With that, Su Luo pulled open the iron gate and then hung a large lock on it to prevent zombies or Survivors from raiding their home while they were away. Such safety precautions were essential.

It's worth mentioning that they both wore double layers of clothing today. Su Luo even put on two layers of old clothes on the outside, as he planned to discard them after this mission anyway, so he wouldn't feel too bad.

After quietly walking fifty meters, they didn't spot any zombies. Su Luo used his powerful psychokinesis, transformed into spiritual power, like a radar, to avoid places where zombies might be present.

Like activating a small radar, he narrowly avoided one crisis after another, which made a hint of admiration appear in his sister's eyes.

After walking 100 meters without incident, they passed a hardware store. Su Luo temporarily stopped and asked his sister to wait for him there for a few seconds.

Afterward, Su Luo went in and thoroughly scavenged, clearing out everything valuable before leaving content.

After this interlude, their journey continued. As they gradually approached the convenience store, the number of zombies around them began to increase.

No matter where they went, there would be one or two zombies wandering nearby. Each time, his sister Kasugano Sora would always rush out first, knocking down the zombies with two blows.

Then, Su Luo would use his short knife to slit their throats, successfully resolving the crisis.

The two of them cooperated very well. After half an hour, they finally arrived at their destination. They saw an iron chain hanging on the convenience store door, with a lock on it.

"Brother, give me your knife. With your strength, you probably can't cut through the chain!"

Upon reaching the door, Sora pointed at the knife in Su Luo's hand and spoke to him seriously.

Su Luo said nothing, directly handing over the knife in his hand. After all, he was just a good-for-nothing whose strength couldn't even compare to his sister's.

"Swish..."

Instantly, a spark flashed, and the alloy short knife sliced through the iron chain in the blink of an eye. The lock, pulled by gravity, slid to the ground with a soft clang.

"Done, big brother, let's go in!"

Having cut the chain, Sora wore an expression that seemed to say, 'Praise me,' and eagerly spoke to Su Luo.

"You worked hard."

Responding to his sister's expression, Su Luo stepped forward, pinched her cheek, and then pulled her inside.

Upon entering the convenience store, a dense array of goods appeared before their eyes. First, there were countless instant foods, bento boxes, milk, and snacks. Next, some semi-finished products, rice, and flour. Finally, some daily necessities like lighters, bowls, and other items.

The convenience store was quite large, a full 150 square meters, and the piled goods were not few. Unexpectedly, it all ended up benefiting them.

"Snacks, snacks, these are all mine. Brother, quickly help me put all these snacks away!"

Sora looked at the dense array of snacks, revealing a trace of surprise.

She said enthusiastically.

In her heart, no matter the circumstances, snacks were absolutely essential. Without snacks, life seemed to lose its flavor.

"Okay!"

Su Luo had no objection. With a gentle wave of his hand, the countless snacks almost vanished without a trace, leaving only a tiny bit.

In addition, Su Luo didn't miss anything else. Whether useful or not, he shoved everything into his Storage Space.

After doing all this, Su Luo snapped his fingers, and two backpacks appeared before him, which made Sora a little puzzled.

She didn't understand why Su Luo, who clearly possessed powerful spatial abilities, didn't put everything into his Storage Space but instead took out backpacks.

"Sora, my spatial control ability must absolutely not be exposed. So, we'll continue to disguise it with backpacks, do you understand?"

Su Luo said, then tossed a backpack to his sister Kasugano Sora, turned around, and began to scavenge some instant food and drinks.

"That's true."

Fortunately, Sora was not stupid and quickly understood the key point, so she didn't dwell on it and generously started packing snacks.

After another round of scavenging, the entire convenience store was basically emptied. As they finished their 'zero-dollar shopping' and prepared to head to the next location, a sudden loud noise occurred outside.

"Roar!"

Immediately after, a large number of zombies seemed attracted by the sound, desperately rushing towards the direction of the commotion.

This made the Su Luo siblings' expressions change, and they temporarily stopped.

"Brother, it seems there are Survivors here. Should we go take a look?"

Sora looked at Su Luo doubtfully, asking thoughtfully.

"Of course, but we can't just save anyone. Let's first see if they have any value."

Hearing his sister's words, Su Luo made a reasonable arrangement.

After all, not everyone could catch Su Luo's eye. Only people of value were worth saving. As for being a bleeding heart, he might as well just think about it and forget it.

Of course, the so-called value, in Su Luo's eyes, was merely the status of a Heroine. If they met the requirements, he would naturally save them. Conversely, if they didn't, Su Luo wouldn't do such thankless tasks.

Not far away, in an alley, Tendo Kisara was running alone on a deserted road, with a large group of zombies trailing behind her.

As for her companions, they had already split into two groups and fled in all directions upon reaching the outskirts of this villa area.

However, Tendo Kisara's luck was not so good. She was instead hit by a zombie horde, eventually cornered and pursued, fending off threats by herself.

Fortunately, Tendo Kisara's reflexes and abilities far exceeded those of an average high school student, allowing her to barely survive and shake off most of the zombies.

"Whew! This can't go on. I must find a safe place."

Tendo Kisara said, panting heavily, deep in thought.

Chapter 10: Encounter, Tendo Kisara Joins!

PS: The typesetting issue in this chapter has been resolved. If it's still the same, please refresh the chapter, dear readers.

Downtown, outside the villa area.

After successfully escaping from school, Tendo Kisara spent a lot of effort shaking off most of the zombies behind her, leaving only five zombies that, like persistent shadows, clung to Tendo Kisara and couldn't be shaken off.

If Tendo Kisara were to stop and use her weapon, she could at most take down two zombies. As for the remaining ones, they would be enough to tear her apart, so now was not the best time to stop.
