Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 14

Hearing what Raj said, Howard thought about it and felt it made sense.

Sheldon is indeed conceited and always puts himself first.

Whenever someone surpasses him, whether a friend or a competitor, he becomes very unhappy.

Before Leonard and he collaborated on super solid research, Sheldon insisted on being listed as first author on the paper.

Howard can imagine that once Sheldon joins the project, he will rush to be the person in charge and will confidently regard other people as subordinates.

At that time, even if they achieve results, he will definitely take the credit. Others will have worked hard in vain, but in the end they will have nothing.

"You're right, we can't cooperate with Sheldon." Howard nodded vigorously. "What about Leonard? Do you want him to join?"

"Not for now. Haven't you seen it yet? Leonard is Sheldon's slave. As long as Leonard joins, Sheldon will definitely know." Raj waved his hand.

"Leonard is not as miserable as you said." Howard frowned and said doubtfully.

"Why not? Leonard is responsible for helping Sheldon drive, fetch food, go to the doctor, shop, and take care of his life. This is what slaves do.

And Sheldon controls Leonard's life, entertainment, work, love, and even bathroom schedule. Truth be told, his control is broader than what a slave master typically exercises." Raj helped him analyze it.

Howard blinked, feeling that what he said really made sense.

Sheldon did keep Leonard under tight control, even affecting both of them.

For example, because Sheldon is afraid of the sun, they can't play outdoors in summer; because Sheldon is overbearing, they can't sit in his special seat; because Sheldon drinks cold drinks too fast, causing headaches, many times they've watched half of a movie and were forced to leave with him...

Not to mention that Sheldon also customized their meal plans, and they eat strictly according to the schedule every week without any variation.

In this way, Leonard really cannot join.

He is too influenced by Sheldon, and there is no difference between him joining and Sheldon joining.

"But can only the two of us do it? You're just an astrophysicist, and I'm just an engineer," Howard said worriedly.

"Let's try it first. If it really doesn't work, we'll find a way," Raj replied with a nod.

He admitted that the two of them couldn't do everything together, and they would definitely encounter many difficulties during the research and development process.

But when you come to a mountain, there's always a path through. He didn't want to give up before even trying.

Besides, it was the lesser of two evils. He would rather slow down the pace of research and development than have Sheldon come in and interfere, ultimately making everyone miserable.

"Okay!" Howard agreed.

Later, Raj and Howard met with the real estate agent and looked at several properties.

Finally, he chose to rent a one-bedroom apartment at 6175 York Road.

It was about ten kilometers from Caltech—only a twenty-minute drive. The transportation was very convenient.

Moreover, it was surrounded by convenience stores, gas stations, fast food restaurants, museums, parks, and other amenities. The supporting facilities were excellent.

Most importantly, the neighborhood was relatively safe, and the apartment building had a security system that would protect residents' personal property.

After a comprehensive comparison, Raj decided to make it his new home.

The rent was also reasonable—only $1,500 for a one-bedroom, much cheaper than his previous place.

Raj then signed the contract and paid the rent and deposit. Renting in the United States typically requires one month's deposit and one month's rent upfront.

After choosing a house, Raj started to move in a few days later.

He tried to recruit Leonard and Howard to help.

"I want to accompany my mother to the water aerobics class, so I really can't help you," Howard declined.

"My computer has a problem, I need to reinstall the system," Leonard also refused.

Both of them don't like physical labor, let alone moving house.

"Whoever helps me move, I will give him a limited edition Green Lantern energy lamp and Stan Lee's signed Hulk gloves," Raj said with a slight smile.

"When I think about it this way, I seem to have misremembered the time when my mother went to class. She should go tomorrow," Howard immediately changed his tune.

"I also don't think there is any need to rush to reinstall the system," Leonard also quickly backtracked.

"You two are really bad friends," Raj said, rolling his eyes.

Three people and two cars moved for a day, and finally the move was almost done.

Large items, such as the refrigerator, oven, and air conditioner, would be picked up and transported by the moving company.

After everything was done, Raj went through the check-out procedures with the original landlord and got his deposit back.

The matter of moving house was over.

"The previous house you lived in was very good, why did you suddenly change it? This house is not as good as your original one," Penny asked curiously.

"The monthly rent for that room was 4,500 US dollars before. Although my father helped me pay the card bill, I don't think men should always rely on their parents," Raj explained.

Hearing what he said, Penny nodded, thinking it made sense. She came to Hollywood from Omaha alone, without financial support from her family, but she kept going on her own.

"Honey, you make me think you are so masculine when you say that," Penny laughed.

"Thank you," Raj nodded.

Back at school on Monday, Raj finished the thesis "Edgeworth-Kyber Fragmentation Disk." He had almost finished writing this thesis last week, and there was only some verification work left today.

After the verification was correct, he sent the paper to the preprint server. The reason for this is that, on the one hand, if a paper is submitted for publication according to the normal process, it will take several months for peer journal review alone. Publishing a paper on a preprint server only requires a day or two of screening.

The same research result, whoever publishes it first, gets it. Therefore, in the field of scientific research, time is more important than money.

On the other hand, the preprint server is open access, allowing more readers to read this paper, which will bring more popularity and reputation. Raj's purpose in writing this paper is to become famous, so naturally the more people who read it, the better.

After finishing this paper, Raj began to study the "N-dimensional superfluid surface tension model" with Howard. Once the research is successful, he can build a superfluid vortex model with Howard, and then manufacture quantum navigation systems and quantum communication systems.

Once these two new inventions are successfully developed, he and Howard will be able to benefit from them endlessly, and they will no longer have to worry about money for the rest of their lives.

So both of them are serious about it. The calculation started in the afternoon, and they kept busy until they got off work.
