Not long after the nurse left, the hospital room door opened again, and Jackson appeared. His steps were slow and somewhat hesitant, as if he were afraid of something. When Emma saw Jackson, all the emotions she had been suppressing suddenly erupted. She felt her heart pounding in her chest, and tears unconsciously spilled from her eyes. She could not hold back the overwhelming emotion of seeing him.
Jackson stood there before her hospital bed, and Emma could not help noticing the obvious change in him. Jackson looked much thinner, his face pale and exhausted, dark circles beneath his eyes showing that he had gone through many sleepless nights. The confident, strong Jackson she usually knew had now been replaced by someone full of worry and pain.
