Anna felt anger beginning to rise inside her when she saw the hesitation in Ricard's eyes. She had tried to control her emotions, but his indecision made it impossible for her to hold back any longer. Her eyes flashed with determination, and she decided she would not let Ricard evade her again.
"Ricard, I'm not young anymore," Anna said, her voice turning serious and somewhat tense. "I can't wait forever. I want to settle down, to have a home, and we need to get married."
Ricard stopped what he was doing, set down the knife, and looked straight into Anna's eyes. His gaze held a trace of awkwardness, as if he did not want to face this conversation. "Anna, I understand that," Ricard replied, his voice gentle but slightly defensive. "But you know our work is very busy right now. There are too many things to take care of. I don't want the wedding to become another burden."
