Chapter 17 - THE DESPERATELY NEEDED COMFORT.

Scarlett slowly looked back and saw that it was Leo.

"What are you doing here?" Scarlett stared at Leo in surprise.

"Follow me," Leo commanded as he tried to drag Scarlett.

"Why should I follow you?!" Scarlett cried out as she tried to release her hand from Leo's grip.

"I am not trying to kidnap you. Let's just talk something out," Leo said in a low tone.

"No, not now. I have something to do," Scarlett argued.

"I promise you that I will let you do what you want after we talk," Leo convinced Scarlett.

Scarlett stared at him for some seconds with fear in her eyes.

"Okay," Scarlett agreed, and Leo dragged her to where he parked his bike, which was a little far from the police station.

Leo released Scarlett's hand. It was clear that Scarlett was still nervous because she was tapping her foot on the ground anxiously.

"You killed Sheldon, right?" Leo questioned Scarlett. Scarlett's eyes widened, and she froze, not knowing how to react.

"You don't have to…" Leo spoke, but Scarlett cut him off.

"I didn't mean to. It was just a slight cut in his neck. I didn't know he would die," Scarlett quivered.

"It was self-defense. You don't need to worry," Leo comforted her.

"How do you know that?" Scarlett calmed down as she locked eyes with Leo.

"I know what Sheldon is capable of, and you were also the last person with Sheldon that day," Leo answered.

"Okay, we'll talk about that later. I have to tell the police that I killed him in self-defense," Scarlett said and turned to leave.

"You telling them that won't change anything," Leo informed Scarlett. Scarlett turned back.

"Why did you say that?" Scarlett questioned curiously.

"It is Sheldon... Don't worry, you can't understand," Leo said and hopped on his bike. Then police cars came around.

The sirens made Scarlett shocked. She stepped back a little in fear.

"Do you wanna come with me?" Leo asked in a cool tone.

Scarlett strode towards his bike and got on it.

"Where do you wanna go?" Leo inquired.

"I want to go somewhere that has a lot of games like a game arcade but is free from people," Scarlett gave Leo her answer.

Leo put on his helmet and gave Scarlett the second helmet. When Scarlett put her helmet on, Leo rode off.

Leo rode past different cars with moderate speed. The morning breeze blew at them as Leo rode on the bridge in North Las Vegas. Scarlett felt relieved due to the refreshing cold breeze that flipped her hair from side to side.

Scarlett suddenly placed her hands around Leo's waist. Leo was shocked, but Scarlett placed her head on his back and fell asleep. Leo shook his body, making Scarlett raise her head and release Leo from her grip.

Leo immediately increased his speed as usual, and a few minutes later, they were at Leo's house.

"We are here," Leo announced, and Scarlett slowly got down, followed by Leo.

"Isn't this where you live?" Scarlett yawned as she watched Leo put the house key into the keyhole of the front door.

"Yeah, it is," he replied and opened the door, then went inside. "The reason I brought you here is because there are a lot of games here and no one is also here except me and my Dad who is not at home now." Leo dropped his school bag on the couch.

Scarlett sat on the couch, and the couch, which was very soft, bounced her up then down.

"How do you expect me to be comfortable at a guy's house? I don't even know you well," Scarlett rested her back on the couch.

"I am not a bad guy, you know…" Leo turned to Scarlett's direction and found Scarlett already asleep.

"Wow, you really look very uncomfortable to me," Leo whispered sarcastically with a warm smile.

Leo moved closer to Scarlett. He gently removed Scarlett's school bag and placed her on the couch without waking her up.

As he stood upright, his father entered the mansion.

"What the... What are you doing here by this time of the day? Why is a girl in my house? What were you doing with her?" Appleford curiously threw questions at Leo.

"I wasn't doing anything with her," Leo answered.

"Then why is she here?" Appleford stared at Scarlett.

"She killed Sheldon and she is traumatized right now," Leo sat down on another couch close to Scarlett.

"How is that possible?" Appleford looked shocked. "I mean, it is Sheldon we're talking about, so how can a normal rich female kid kill a Mafia king? Or is it somehow like those words I hear that most of the great men in history fell by the hands of women?"

"I don't know how she did it, but she did it to defend herself," Leo brushed his hair backwards in frustration.

"Did that bastard assault her?" Appleford inquired furiously, and Leo nodded.

Appleford shook his head. "I like the way she stabbed him in different places. It suits him and his wicked soul," Appleford told Leo happily.

"You do know you joined him to participate in some of those wicked acts, right?" Leo glared at him, and Appleford looked down in reflection.

Everywhere was silent, then Leo's eyes suddenly lit up as if he just realized something.

"What did you say about the way he was killed?" Leo glanced at Appleford for an answer.

"He was stabbed in different places." Appleford brought out his phone and scrolled on it. A few seconds later, he showed Leo what was on his phone.

Leo quickly stood up and checked Appleford's phone. The article read thus: "Mr Sheldon brutally murdered by an unknown murderer."

Leo went through a flashback. "I didn't mean to. It was just a slight cut in the neck." Leo remembered what Scarlett told him, then Leo smiled.

"Scarlett didn't kill him. Someone else did," he told Appleford in excitement as Appleford looked at Leo as if he had never smiled like that after his mom's death.

-Scarlett only cut his neck — someone else finished Sheldon off.
