Chapter 150: The Unrepentant Danzō!
Hiruzen Sarutobi's words rang with righteous indignation, laced with barely restrained fury.
Oborotsuki was genuinely surprised to hear them.
Everyone always said Hiruzen was the moderate faction—gentle and benevolent at home, timid and yielding abroad.
The common belief was that Konoha's true backbone had always been Danzō and his Root organization, quietly supported by the great clans and civilian geniuses.
But now, after personally facing Hiruzen, it seemed things weren't quite so simple.
"Are you threatening me?"
Oborotsuki recovered from his brief astonishment and asked with a mocking smile.
"Take him down!"
Hiruzen wasted no more words. With a sharp wave of his hand, he ordered the surrounding ANBU to attack.

Oborotsuki suddenly gave a meaningful laugh. His words made Hiruzen's eyes narrow dangerously.

Then, with a casual wave toward Hiruzen, the ANBU, Shisui, and Itachi, he said:
"Danzō is being treated at Konoha Hospital right now, isn't he?"
"If you hurry back, you might still catch his last breath…"
With that playful remark, Oborotsuki vanished from the spot, taking Mikoto with him.
"This is bad!!"
"Lord Third—he deliberately lured us outside the village!!"
Only now did Shisui realize the truth. All the fierce fighting earlier—when he and Itachi had forced this man back step by step with Susanoo, driving him from the village to this forest—it had all been an act!

The door was pushed open. Oborotsuki walked in slowly, Mikoto at his side.

Oborotsuki spoke coldly to the medical ninja who were pouring massive amounts of chakra into treating Danzō.
Hearing someone speak behind them, the fully focused medical ninja tensed and instinctively turned around.

One of them recognized Uchiha Mikoto.

They backed away warily, pressing themselves against the wall as they edged toward the door—none daring to meet Oborotsuki's gaze.
In moments, all the medical ninja had fled the room.
Mikoto looked at the unconscious Danzō. Hatred flashed in her eyes, but she was puzzled:
"Why did you let those people go?"
"They'll report this…"
She looked up at Oborotsuki in confusion.
"Even if they don't report it, it makes no difference."
Oborotsuki smiled mockingly.
He had already openly declared his intentions to Hiruzen and the others.
His target was Shimura Danzō.
Everyone already knew he was coming here.
But even at full speed, it would take them several minutes to return from outside the village.
That was more than enough time.
Hearing Oborotsuki's reply, Mikoto fell silent. Her gaze returned to Danzō, hatred burning once again in her eyes.
Without another word, Oborotsuki stepped forward. Senjutsu chakra flared as he forced Danzō awake.
"You…"
Danzō slowly regained consciousness. The moment he saw Oborotsuki—and Mikoto holding little Sasuke—his pupils contracted violently. Rage surged, reopening his barely healed wounds.
"I told you—you couldn't escape."
"Do you want to do it yourself, or should I handle him for you?"
Oborotsuki turned to look at Mikoto.
Mikoto trembled all over, her face filled with rage and helplessness.
She stared at Danzō, gritting her teeth as she asked:
"Why? Why did you order the complete extermination of the Uchiha clan?"
It didn't have to end like this. She truly couldn't understand why Danzō had insisted on wiping them out so thoroughly.
"For colluding with Kirigakure, huh…?"
Danzō sneered, coughing blood.
"It seems… you've been working together all along… Exterminating the Uchiha… was the right decision… cough cough…"
Seeing the man who had nearly killed him standing right there, Danzō was consumed with fury.
But his old, heavily injured body could no longer threaten Oborotsuki or Mikoto.
Even so, his words remained vicious.
Not the slightest hint of remorse.
Instead, he still believed he had done the right thing.
"Pay for everything you've done!!"
"For the sake of every innocent Uchiha soul who died—I will avenge them now! Rest in peace!"
Mikoto stared at Danzō, seeing no trace of regret. She knew further words were useless.
Hiruzen and his forces were rushing back. The longer she delayed, the worse it would be.
She drew a kunai, took several deep breaths, then drove the sharp blade straight into Danzō's heart.
"Cough cough…"
Danzō coughed up a large mouthful of blood. His eyes slowly dimmed.
He did not cry out in pain. Instead, his expression turned desolate as he spoke calmly:
"Everything I did… was for this village… for Konoha."
"My only regret… is that the Uchiha… still had… a fish that slipped through the net…"
