Chapter 18 - Hunting the black organization
Cain blinked, then shook his head with a faint smile.
No rush.
They were all his servants now.
Thanks to his physique, back to back fun hadn't tired him in the slightest.
But…
He glanced at the marks covering his body and headed for the bathroom.
…
Akemi Miyano yawned, poking listlessly at her food.
"Sis, couldn't sleep?"
"It's your fault."
Akemi shot her younger sister a resentful glare.
The noise had kept her up all night.
Then there'd been a morning encore.
She couldn't even nap.
Every time she closed her eyes, indescribable images flooded her mind.
Torture for a virgin.
"Oh, I slept wonderfully," Vermouth said, chin resting on her hand, a sly smile playing on her lips. "And I'm full of energy now."
She'd been surprised herself.
She should have been exhausted.
Yet not only did she feel refreshed, her strength had surged.
Could it be because…?
Her gaze drifted meaningfully to Cain.
"Vermouth," Cain said, "any progress on the Black Organization?"
"Master, we have news."
Vermouth straightened. "I arranged an emergency meeting. Karasuma Renya confirmed attendance."
"Good."
Cain shoveled a few quick bites of rice. "Let's eat fast and get moving."
...
Black Organization Headquarters
Remote mountains..
Few beyond core members even knew this place existed.
Inside the fortified conference room, executives gathered around a long table.
Karasuma Renya sat at the head, cane in hand, body radiating decay and age.
To his left and right were Rum, Gin and Chianti.
"Boss, aren't we being too soft on Vermouth?" Gin scowled. "She calls an urgent meeting with vital information, then doesn't show?"
"This meeting was my decision," Tequila growled. "You questioning the Boss?"
"Hmph. Just stating facts. If I'm wrong, punish me."
"Gentlemen," Rum interjected smoothly, "save the arguing. Wait for Vermouth."
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Karasuma's cane tapped the floor.
Silence fell instantly.
"Vermouth claims to have found a path to supernatural power," the old man rasped. "Be patient."
As a massive shadow organization, they knew more than most about the hidden side of the world.
It was why they chased immortality.
Even Gin shut up.
Wooo—!
Alarms shrieked.
Soon Explosions and gunfire followed.
"What the hell?"
"Intruders?"
Rum reached for his comms, but the roaring grew closer.
Screams echoed faintly.
BOOM!
The reinforced alloy doors, built to withstand missiles, blew inward in a thunderous blast.
Blood and viscera flooded the room in a choking wave.
Corpses littered the corridor beyond.
Cain strolled in leisurely, three women at his sides, stepping over bodies as if walking through a park.
"Vermouth?"
"Sherry...you're alive?"
"And… Akemi Miyano?"
Every one had different reactions.
Shock, suspicion and confusion.
How had these three ended up together?
And who was the man?
"Vermouth," Karasuma rasped, "explain yourself. Bringing outsiders. Slaughtering our men. Even you won't be forgiven."
"Who needs your forgiveness?"
Vermouth laughed coldly, startling everyone.
Rum and the others exchanged stunned glances.
Was this an imposter?
The audacity.
Vermouth ignored them, pressed tightly against Cain's arm, and pointed at Karasuma. "Master, that old fossil is the boss."
"Shall we kill them all?"
Everyone froze.
The witch had just called this stranger "Master."
And with such intimacy.
It felt like a nightmare.
"If we wipe them out now, can you secure the organization's funds?"
Cain's arm slid around her slim waist as he murmured the question.
Money was tight.
"That might be tricky," Vermouth admitted, blinking thoughtfully. She pointed at Rum. "Spare him for now."
"I'm confident I can dedicate every yen to Master afterward."
"Vermouth… you've lost your mind," Rum stared, seeing her as if for the first time.
"Get your hands off her!"
Calvados, ever the bootlicker, reached for his gun.
Cain flicked a finger.
A thin beam of crimson magic punched clean through Calvados's chest.
Instant death.
Fear spread across faces.
They'd only seen a flash.
And Calvados died.
Bang!
Gin kicked the table over, drew, and fired in one fluid motion.
"Not bad speed."
Cain flicked another beam.
Gin exploded into red mist.
