Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Laws of Matter and the Pluse of the Spirit

Doctor Toram's sprint across the central training field was not driven by precise calculations, but by sheer, unadulterated stubbornness. According to the laws of physics, the energy required for an object's motion is directly proportional to its mass and velocity.

But right now, the nano-tech armor she was wearing seemed determined to violently break every single one of those laws. Running with both swords gripped firmly in her hands, extending them backward like wings, she suddenly faced illusory enemy targets conjured by Qaduel.

Even as Toram mathematically calculated the perfect turning angle in her head, her neural network connection with the armor abruptly severed. Her balance instantly collapsed. Gravity seized her center of mass and viciously dragged it to the earth. Attempting to dodge the holographic figures that were evaporating like mist, she pitched forward and slammed face-first into the dirt.

"Action and reaction must be equal and opposite!" she yelled in frustration, spitting out dirt and wiping her face. Her scientific mind desperately tried to analyze the failure. "Is this a delay in the neural link? Or is it an asynchronous synaptic resonance?"

Toram furrowed her brow fiercely. To her, the universe was a puzzle to be solved with formulas, not spun with magic. "If this technology connects directly with my nervous system, then what you call the 'Voice of the Spirit,' we in science call 'data transmission.' And right now, the data is failing to transmit!"

Qaduel descended slowly from the air, landing softly on the ground. His laugh wasn't terrifying like before; instead, it carried a warm, fatherly amusement. "The terminology doesn't matter, Doctor. You call it 'data,' we call it 'spirit.' But the problem isn't in the transmission; the problem lies in the reception. Now, try drawing the swords."

Toram swallowed hard. Focusing every ounce of her mental energy, she reached her right hand back. But her mind was still entangled in a thorny web of fear and doubt. In quantum mechanics, there is a principle that states "the observer alters the observed reality." Toram's intense fear caused the molecules of the armor to rigidify. The nano-carbonite suit locked up with a force far greater than her momentum, throwing her completely off balance.

"Ugh!"

Once again, she face-planted into the dirt. A cloud of dust billowed into the air. The armor suddenly felt so unbearably heavy that, completely defying Newton's laws, it pinned her to the ground like a boulder weighing a ton.

"This thing doesn't work!" Toram screamed in sheer frustration, struggling to push herself up from the dirt. She glared fiercely at Qaduel. "Does the physics Newton wrote not apply in this world? How does mass just increase for absolutely no reason?"

Qaduel reached out a hand to help her up. "The problem isn't physics; the problem is focus. I don't understand this 'nano-carbonite technology' you keep talking about, but as long as that armor belongs to Rama, let me tell you one thing: it does not follow the movement of your body; it follows the beat of your heart. When you fear, you lose faith, and the armor grows anxious and heavy; when you doubt, it turns to solid stone. Stop treating the armor like a foreign object or a machine. It is woven from absolute, magical power."

Toram grabbed Qaduel's hand and pulled herself up. Dusting off her suit, she paused for a moment in deep thought. She began to merge her knowledge of bio-metrics with his spiritual advice. "Alright... I think I get it," she muttered, sounding as though she were talking to herself. "This machine operates not only on bio-metric pressure but also on psychological states. It registers my fear as a 'glitch' in the circuitry. I am the one blocking the electrical flow."

"I don't understand half the words you just used, but you've grasped the concept perfectly," Qaduel encouraged her. "This armor can speak to you from within and send answers directly into your mind. Now, try again. Close your eyes. Imagine that you and the armor are not two separate entities, but one body, one spirit."

Toram closed her eyes. She fought to quiet the roaring flames of Addis Ababa, the horrors of the war, and the chaotic storm raging within her mind. Instead, she visualized the smooth, continuous flow of quantum particles. She stopped feeling the armor as cold, alien metal against her skin, and instead imagined it as a direct extension of her own nervous system.

*"I and the armor are one. The flow of electrons is unbroken,"* she sent the thought deep within herself with profound intent.

*"For your faith, I accept you!"* a resonant voice echoed back into her mind, originating directly from the suit.

"Aha!" Toram gasped involuntarily.

"What happened, Doctor?" Qaduel asked, his tone laced with suspicion and curiosity.

"It spoke to me. Like a human." Doctor Toram stood there, holding her forehead in disbelief. "Qaduel, believe me so I don't sound like a fool—the armor actually answered me."

Qaduel offered a soft smile and said, "I know! I believe you!"

"You really believe me?!"

Qaduel placed a comforting, fatherly hand on her shoulder. "The armor has chosen you! Believe me, if it were me, I wouldn't even have the strength to bear its weight. This is your destiny! Now, show me the secret of your synchronization."

Toram nodded in agreement. She returned to her training stance, entering a state of deep meditation. Slowly, the crushing, ton-like weight on her shoulders began to lift. As her heartbeat steadied, she felt the armor breathe in sync with her, seamlessly merging with the electrical energy coursing through her veins.

Without any struggle this time, she reached her hands back. As if her hands and the swords had suddenly remembered Newton's laws, they glided forward effortlessly, slicing through the air. A brilliant beam of red and blue plasma shot out from the blades with a sharp *"Swoosh!"* Her movements were fluid, masterful, and possessed absolute scientific precision.

"You did it!" Qaduel shouted in triumph. He spread his wings, looking at her with genuine admiration.

When Toram opened her eyes, she stared at the crackling energy dancing across her hands. For the very first time, she felt a profound sense of power. Her fear had been entirely replaced by scientific certainty. "Amazing. It feels just like an extension... like an extra limb. Although the loss of weight seems to contradict the law of mass, it perfectly aligns with the law of conservation of energy. The energy I expended was converted directly into light."

"You've only just been introduced to it," Qaduel said, folding his wings. He stepped closer and placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. The playful smile on his face was replaced by a look of deep, solemn care. "Doctor, I know about the vision of hell you saw earlier. I respect you immensely for putting that agony aside, merging your calculations with faith, and standing here right now. I am not just your trainer; I am your comrade in this war."

As Toram returned the swords to their scabbards, they no longer felt as heavy as before. Qaduel's words gave her a meaning that transcended science. Her earlier explosive anger had cooled. "I was trained to save lives, Qaduel, not to take them. I have always been a lab rat, never a soldier. But if it means stopping Daruel, I will gladly break the laws of physics themselves."

"That is when we become victorious," Qaduel said, gesturing toward the entrance of the palace. "Let's go. That is enough for today. Your body and spirit have begun to adapt. From now on, it won't be me leading the way; it will be you and the profound knowledge you hold within."

Toram smiled. Yet, a lingering question remained in the back of her mind; she had not yet measured the true limits of this newfound power she had just synchronized with.

As the sun set over the land of Rama, Toram's shadow and the shadow of Qaduel's wings merged into one upon the training grounds. However, this was merely the beginning of her trials, not the end. The true, ultimate test still lay ominously ahead of them.
