For a moment, it looked as though she might want to say something, but instead she pressed her lips together, staring straight ahead.
"There's nothing wrong, Professor. I'm fine."
"Very well," he conceded – remaining unconvinced but never one to ask twice. "In that case, I shall leave you to your studies. It would be wise to return your common room shortly however, given recent events."
She nodded.
Snape turned to leave, but hesitated after several paces, turning to look at her again.
"And Miss Granger? If you should change your mind, and find yourself in need of somebody to listen, you know where to find me."
With that, he strode away, more than pleased that the conversation was at an end.
He did not see the girl watching him go, an odd look on her face.
