Chapter 442 - Chapter 442: The Divine Dragon That Commands the Weather

Chapter 442: The Divine Dragon That Commands the Weather

This is pretty interesting, Kabuto Yakushi mused to himself. If Lord Orochimaru knew about this, he'd definitely want to analyze it. A mutated variant of the Byakugan, yet vastly different from the Tenseigan.

Still, he didn't slow his pace down for a second, putting the divine dragon's majestic capabilities on full, spectacular display.

Wind, rain, thunder, and lightning.

It moved like a deity commanding the weather itself.

Years ago, Lord Orochimaru had conducted genetic research on a clan with the ability to manipulate weather phenomena. Kabuto had spliced those exact genetic traits into the divine dragon's genome, modifying its biology from the ground up.

Having inherited all of Lord Orochimaru's boundless knowledge, Kabuto had subjected the creature to round after round of genetic refinement—and with a few pointers from Tobitake Tonbo, he had ultimately created this ultimate summoning beast.

Acquiring this divine dragon had turned out to be a goldmine for his orphanage, generating immense revenue.

Just as Tobitake Tonbo had told him back then: a summoning beast must never look repulsive. It had to be majestic, dominant, and imposing to captivate an audience and convince people to part with their money.

Today was no exception—just the appearance fee for bringing out the divine dragon was netting him a massive payout.

As expected, visual perfection really is justice, Kabuto thought, a gentle smile gracing his lips.

Ignoring Boruto's stunned expression, Kabuto seamlessly continued his performance.

He showcased the divine dragon's mastery over gales, torrents, thunder, and lightning to its absolute limits.

The dragon struck regal, terrifying poses across the sky, demonstrating to every single freshman that whether it was ninjutsu, taijutsu, or jutsu of the summoning variety, any discipline could reach mind-boggling heights when pushed to its peak.

ROAAAR!

"That is insanely cool!"

"Ahhh! I want to learn Summoning Jutsu too!"

"You need a contract with a summoning beast first, dummy! Do you even have one? Besides, keeping a summoning beast costs a fortune!"

The fresh recruits stared up at Kabuto Yakushi with sheer, unadulterated hero worship.

Meanwhile, Tobitake Tonbo's gaze landed squarely on Boruto, noticing the subtle anomaly taking place within the boy.

He quietly wove a hand seal in secret.

A stream of biological data instantly transmitted back from Boruto.

The neural strands Tonbo had previously planted on the boy rapidly gathered his physical metrics and beamed the data straight back to his main body.

So this is the Jougan, huh? As expected of the future Child of Destiny's signature power. The biological shift is ridiculously volatile, containing so many variables even I don't fully understand yet.

Tonbo could clearly feel that Boruto's genetic sequencing and physical parameters were undergoing an extreme, radical transformation the moment the Jougan manifested.

His entire body was evolving on a cellular level, while a unique strain of ocular chakra birthed itself within him.

It triggered only after the physical body underwent that specific transformation.

It operated much like the Uchiha's Sharingan—when awakened, the brain produced a specialized chakra, which was what people referred to as ocular power.

It turned out the Jougan functioned on the exact same fundamental principle.

Unlike Neji's Tenseigan, the chakra generated by the Jougan possessed a frequency that felt noticeably more extraordinary.

As he rapidly compiled and analyzed Boruto's physical metrics, the smile on Tonbo's face grew increasingly delighted.

A rare data point like this was something he could only collect when Boruto actively awakened the Jougan—it was a truly hard-won opportunity.

Who would have thought that taking a simple joyride on Kabuto's dragon would trigger the eye's awakening?

Evidently, an intense surge of emotion or external sensory stimulation had triggered the reaction in Boruto's body.

And so, the Jougan had briefly surfaced.

Man, this genetic sequence is overwhelmingly potent though! It's not one bit inferior to Kaguya's own biological profile!

Based on his years of analyzing Kaguya's genetic data, Tonbo could tell that Kaguya's genome contained no record of the specific traits Boruto was currently exhibiting.

In other words, the Chakra Fruit—supposedly containing the accumulated data of the entire planet—didn't actually encompass every single piece of information after all.

There were plenty of anomalies left out of the equation.

That explained why Kaguya's biological blueprint lacked the exact genetic metrics present in Boruto's Jougan form.

Going by the original lore from his past life, the Chakra Fruit was supposed to store all genetic data across the Shinobi World.

Looking at it now, Kishimoto really was just a manga artist—what did he actually know about Naruto?

This opens up so many new avenues for research, Tonbo thought, his mind racing with fresh ideas that could easily keep him occupied for another six months.

Lately, Orochimaru's research had reached a fever pitch, coming remarkably close to developing a method to lock down the timeline itself.

Fuinjutsu really was the undisputed king of every meta.

Attending this orientation ceremony had definitely been the right call—he had stumbled upon a goldmine of new research material.

Next up is Neji's display, and then it'll finally be my turn.

A subtle smirk curved the corner of Tonbo's lips.

In the distance, Kabuto Yakushi brought the divine dragon's grand exhibition to a smooth, gradual close.

"WOOO-HOO! That was freaking awesome!" Boruto yelled, standing atop the dragon's head as the Jougan faded from his eye.

He felt a subtle sense of strangeness in his vision.

A moment ago, it felt like he had glimpsed something extraordinary.

And this wasn't the first time it had happened either.

Could he possess some hidden, latent power? Or had he finally awakened his mother's Byakugan?

He pondered the thought deeply.

Boruto knew his mother hailed from the Hyuga clan and possessed the Kekkei Genkai of the Byakugan.

If he wasn't mistaken, he had probably just unlocked the Byakugan himself.

He just hadn't quite figured out how to control it on command yet.

Hell yeah! Not only did I get to ride this incredible summoning beast, but I even awakened the Byakugan! Hahaha, I really am a heaven-sent genius!

Boruto laughed like a maniac in his head.

At this rate, it wouldn't be long before he earned way more recognition from his old man.

Anchoring his chakra firmly to the dragon's head, he watched the magnificent beast wrap up its performance.

One day... he was going to look just as imposing—no, even cooler than this!

This Ninja Academy orientation ceremony was clearly designed to set legendary goals for new recruits like them.

Boruto turned his gaze toward Neji. I wonder how strong Uncle Neji really is. Word has it his combat power is pretty much equal to Dad's nowadays.

He had known for a long time that his uncle, much like his idol Sasuke, had been a legendary prodigy since childhood.

A natural genius who stayed at the top his entire life.

Then there was the legendary shinobi who shared the exact same name as his father—they should be taking the stage next, right? He wondered just how terrifyingly strong they were.

He had never actually seen his uncle use high-level ninjutsu in battle before.

All he knew was that Uncle Neji could fly people around in midair.

"So, kid, was that fun?" Kabuto asked with a warm chuckle.

Boruto nodded vigorously. "Yeah! It was beyond awesome!"

"Work hard," Kabuto encouraged with a gentle smile. "In the future, you'll grow to be far stronger than me."

Looking at Boruto, Kabuto felt no different than when he looked at the children back at the orphanage—except the kids at the orphanage all viewed him as a father figure.

"Alright, that wraps up our part!"

Down on the island below, following the divine dragon's display of atmospheric jutsu, the scorched and battered terrain began to undergo a rapid transformation. Fresh greenery sprouted like bamboo shoots after a spring rain, radiating vibrant, blossoming life.

With a swift movement, Kabuto carried Boruto back onto the giant bird's back.

Naruto stepped forward, addressing the crowd. "Did you see that, everyone? That is the ultimate pinnacle of a shinobi's strength! Your goal from this day forward is to surpass them!"

"Do your best, Boruto," a voice whispered.

SWISH!

Neji materialized right in front of Boruto as if teleporting out of thin air, offering a warm word of encouragement.

In the next instant, he stepped off the edge of the giant bird.

He floated through the air with effortless grace—no flying gear, no summoning beast beneath his feet. It was as if flying were an innate, natural ability he had been born with.

"It's my dad's turn! Watch closely, everyone—my dad is super strong!" Tonbo Hyuga declared with intense excitement upon seeing his father take the field.

Even he didn't know the true depth of his father's power.

All he knew was that during their sparring sessions, he couldn't touch his dad at all.

And that was with his own Byakugan fully activated!

His father had used nothing more than basic physical taijutsu.

Since his dad was taking the stage here today, he was guaranteed to put on a breathtaking show.

And he was performing in the second-to-last penultimate slot!

Wait—if they counted the Hokage, he was technically the third-to-last final performance.
