I twisted myself around, quickly as my exhausted body could handle on both hands and knees.
Not sparing a second, I crawled my way towards the door with large 'EXIT' sign, tracking my movement to distract myself from my scraping skin on the concrete.
Left knee, right hand
Right knee, left hand
Left knee, perfectly polished designer shoes.
My heart dropped.
Slowly, I crack up my head, despite the strong protest from my neck.
Please let him be looking at something else, or let him be too dazed to even notice there's another person around… I prayed.
It went unanswered.
Our eyes met for the second time that evening. And that same unfamiliar feeling ran down my body. I sucked in a shaky breath.
We stayed like that for a few seconds. Me— in hopes that he'll mistake me for a chair and move on , and him— Whatever his reasons were.
During that time I noticed the effects of the pheromones strangely fade into the night.
My throat felt looser. My chest, no longer compressed.
The analytic part of my brain immediately went into action. Trying to make sense of what was happening.
He was still pumping pheromones uncontrollably. Gallons of them. In fact, his eyes looked like he could be in mars by now.
Was something blocking it? Like an invisible fortification?
He made a sudden movement and I immediately snapped back into reality. A sound left his throat, something between a purr and a growl.
His brought his hand closer to my face. Cautiously. Like he was having an internal battle with himself.
I, in turn, pushed myself further and further from his reach. There was an irritated growl, which caused me to stop in my tracks. Then finally, he made contact.
It was nothing, at first, but then gradually, an unfamiliar feeling began to build up in the pit of my stomach. Especially when his hand travelled down my jawline to my neck.
It wasn't repulsion—that was very familiar feeling. This was something else, something that made me want to stay still as his hand explored other parts of me.
Just then, his gaze hardened, and the moment shattered. He gripped my throat. The switch was all to sudden for me to react as he roughly yanked me to my feet.
I could hear the alarm bells loud and clear as my hands came around his. Suddenly, I was slammed against something cold and hard. His car.
"What are you?!" He barked. And my heart skipped a beat.
"W w what?" I sputtered, as I tried to make sense of his question, or whether I was the one being asked.
He lifted me off my feet with, bringing his voice to a low growl. "What. are. you?!" His eyes looked terrifying. One wrong move, and there was no guarantee I was going home alive.
I scraped my mind, trying to come up with an answer to give him. What did he want? My name? My age? I couldn't decide, so I told him everything.
"I'm nothing… Err, nobody! My name is Ren, I'm 24, I work as a companion." I tried to swallow but the saliva just caught between my throat. "I work in this building!" I flailed my hand toward the building, without looking, but his eyes never left mine.
What else, what else, what else?
I desperately looked around for anyone on passing by, even a bird would suffice. But not a single soul was in sight. The roads were empty.
Stupid exclusive neighborhood.
Slowly, I felt myself move forward and his face got closer and closer to mine. What was he doing? What was he doing? Was he going to kiss me?
My stomach turned in disgust.
I prepared myself to deliver my 'dodge and kick' technique. I didn't know how foolproof it was going to be against a Z-Gen Alpha, but it was my only option. Just one perfect foot swing.
Why didn't I carry a pepper spray on me?!
My chest heaved and fell in response to the ever narrowing proximity.
I scrunched my face, my eyes shutting as I waited for impact. Here it comes… Three two one
I froze. Instead of skin, I felt a silky texture scrape my lips and the taste of hair gel filled my tongue.
I threw my hair back in disgust trying to get the awful taste out of my mouth when suddenly, I heard the loud inhale around my neck area, and I realized what was going on.
Of course, he was no different. Just like all the alphas I tended to, he was interested in my lavender scent. I sighed
But why did I feel a tinge of disappointment. I frowned, as I waited on edge for him to get his fill.
So far, there didn't seem to be any danger. But that wasn't going to fool me again.
Suddenly, his head jerked up, his face full of irritation. What? What was wrong? It couldn't be my lavender scent. My scent never failed.
Or did he want more? Like a calming session. I'd gladly do it for free if that was what he wanted.
His hand quickly retracted from my neck, and without warning, I dropped on my feet.
Something was wrong.
I felt an emptiness where his hand was. My hands went around my neck, frantically feeling for it. That was when I caught it. The black lace strap in his hand, looped through a black locket.
Before I could react, he flung it, landing with a clang at the side of the road.
No! I threw myself forward, trying to reach for it, but he roughly slammed me back against the car.
A force strong enough to cripple me.
"No!" I screamed, as he bent his head again, trying to bring his nose close to my neck.
My eyes widened in fear. I couldn't let that happen. All my efforts to keep myself hidden.
I struggled with him, trying to cover the area with my hands. My eyes stung with tears as he easily overpowered me, holding both hands of mine above my head.
The reality of being so weak had never slapped like it did now.
I screamed. I thrashed. I kicked. Everything I could.
His head dipped. My heart sank.
It was over.
Slowly, I stopped fighting it as he inhaled. My scent. And my freedom.
He was going to realize what I was. He was going to send me to the authorities. Everyone would know. My family's image. Everything I fought for. Xueya.
A tear rolled down my cheek as my head dropped to the hood of the car. Awaiting my sentence.
Until I felt something warm, yet wet touch the crook of my neck.
