Chapter 4 - The throe of a Spinel - 3

In the hospital, the line was long, it was a bit crowded. I was sitting as I feel my head getting a bit heavier. I look around and saw Safi with Malina— again.

I ignored them, I stand up immediately when the nurse called us. I cling to my mom's arm, as we enter a lab where they took a sample of my blood and urine.

"Are you nervous?" A young doctor said softly, his emerald eyes shining as he look at me gently.

"No." I said straightforwardly, feeling numb from everything.

"Haha, i see, you might be a tough one— very different from the previous client." He spoke in such a friendly tone,

"Is it a girl?" I asked curiously, maybe it was Malina.

"Yes, It was a girl." He said, his smile is visible even though a mask hides it.

"Her name was Malina, right?" I continue to ask,

"How'd you know? Oh— we aren't allowed to share patients information, forget about that." He said as he focused on taking some blood samples.

"Is she sick?" I look at him curious,

"I can't answer that sadly—"

"I know her, she's the reason why I need this. So, can you please tell me?" I examined his coat to see if there's a name tag, but none.

"Well, I'm not sure.. hmm," he stopped for a bit and took the blood sample and move it to a little cup,

"No illness were found on her, so, we're suspecting it was just her anxiety." he continued and look at me with a gentle smile,

"Please wait outside." he gave me a little cup to put my urine in.

I stand up and went outside to go to the restroom. I bumped into Safi, one glance and I could already feel her annoyance.

I feel suffocated, I couldn't breathe properly, but I just continue to walk— even if i feel lightheaded.

After getting the urine sample, I went back and give it to the nurse; her lucent onyx eyes were captivating, it was mixed with concern.

"You look pale, are you okay?" the nurse asked gently,

"Ah— yes…" My voice cracking and weak,

"You sure?" The nurse looked concerned, I just nod.

"Alright, The test will be ready in an hour." She said smiling gently.

I nod and went back to the waiting area to look for my mom, my heart fell from the mountains when I saw her chatting with Malina and Safi.

Both looked at me, Malina's face looked cunning, it made me feel scared. I feel like throwing up, my head feels heavy, I feel like i'll cry in any minute.

My mom noticed me, "Ah you're finally done, when can we pick up the results?" she said as she walked towards me,

"A- an hour.." I mumbled weakly, no words want to come out of my mouth.

"I see, let's walk for a bit, I haven't seen your friends since ages!" My mom said happily.

"You go, I'll wait here…" I said as i turned away and sat on an empty chair,

"You must be tired, I'll be back, do you want something?" She asked gently, I just shook my head, no.

"Will they say something bad about me to my mom? Will they spread their horrendous lies to my mom? I wanna throw up. This is so suffocating, I wanna go home." My mind speaks continuously.

After an hour the result came— a nurse guided me to a room, a doctor came,

"You're negative to leukemia, but it's still worrying, do you take vitamins? I'll prescribe you a vitamin supplement for your blood." The doctor said gently, I stayed quiet,

"Do you feel any pain? discomfort?" He asked,

"No," I said bluntly as I feel a bit detached.

"I've been your doctor for a decade already, you look troubled." He spoke in a gentle tone,

"No, it's nothing." I said bluntly again, I was aggressively scratching my thumb 'til it became reddish.

"Say, should I recommend you to some therapist? what about psychiatrists?" He said, his voice filled with worries. I stopped for a bit, and just nod.

"Alright, I'll chat you where to go, I'll make an appointment for you." He said as he started writing what vitamins I need.
