Chapter 402 - Chapter 402: Heroes and Beauties, Plus a Little Sister-in-Law

Nakoruru's power was like spring rain—gentle and nourishing, softly replenishing Cloud's body that had been drained dry from overexertion.

Rimururu's power was like a cool summer spring—refreshing and pure, soothing his soul that had grown restless from the Orochi power.

Two entirely different yet ultimately kindred forces of nature flowed through him like the most harmonious melody.

He let out a long, relaxed breath, feeling as though his entire being had come back to life.

He looked down at the shrine maiden sisters flanking him, each gripping him tightly, their faces full of concern. A surge of warmth and emotion he couldn't quite put into words welled up in his heart.

"I'm fine now," he said, offering them a smile. "Thank you."

"That's good... that's good..." Nakoruru watched his complexion return to normal, finally letting go of the anxiety that had gripped her heart. She gently rested her head against Cloud's shoulder, feeling his heartbeat, as if only this could confirm he was truly there.

Rimururu's face flushed red. Though relieved, she still clung tightly to Cloud's arm, refusing to let go. In her mind, this man had become an omnipotent "god"—she had never imagined that a "god" could have such a vulnerable side.

And it was precisely this vulnerability that made her feel the man before her was no longer that lofty, unreachable deity, but a flesh-and-blood person who could get tired, get hurt, and needed someone to care for him.

This feeling made her maiden heart beat even faster.

The "Alliance" members standing nearby watched this heartwarming scene of "hero with beauties, plus little sister-in-law" and tactfully kept their distance.

They simply observed from afar, wearing expressions that said "I'm shipping this so hard" and "auntie smiles," silently consuming this freshly served helping of "dog food."

Haohmaru nudged Tachibana Ukyo beside him and whispered conspiratorially, "Hey, Ukyo. Does the Alliance Leader and those two sisters seem like... there's something going on there?"

Ukyo gave him a sidelong glance and replied flatly, "You just figured that out?"

"Tsk tsk, truly worthy of the Alliance Leader," Haohmaru said, his face a mixture of envy and jealousy. "Not only is his strength off the charts, but his luck with women is incredible too. A pair of sisters! That's a blessing not everyone gets. Unlike me—all I do every day is drink, practice swordsmanship, and get chased around by that lunatic Genjuro."

Genjuro, standing not far away, heard this and let out a cold snort. "Who are you calling a lunatic, you red-haired idiot?"

"You, obviously! What are you gonna do about it?"

Seeing the two about to start bickering again, Yagyu Jubei cleared his throat and stopped them.

"Enough, stop it." He looked toward Cloud and the others in the distance, his eyes full of emotion. "The Alliance Leader's contributions in this battle are immense. What he needs now is rest. Let's not disturb him."

Everyone nodded in sincere agreement.

In this moment, no one questioned Cloud's position anymore.

He had earned everyone's awe through absolute strength.

And now, through this moment of "weakness," he had won everyone's affection.

A man who could transform into a god and demon to destroy heaven and earth, yet could also return to being human and enjoy tenderness—

This was a leader people truly believed in. One they would willingly follow.

Meanwhile, Cloud had his eyes closed, basking in the "dual healing" from the shrine maiden sisters.

On his left, the warm caress of spring breeze. On his right, cool and refreshing comfort.

The scent lingering at his nose was Nakoruru's forest-like fragrance of grass and trees, mingled with Rimururu's snow lotus-like icy freshness.

This... this was simply heaven!

To hell with Orochi power! To hell with dimensional corrections! Cloud shouted in his heart. I just want to drown in this gentle haven and never wake up!

Cloud: "...Get lost!"

...

After Mount Osore's evil was purified, the world entered a rare period of "version maintenance."

Mizuki the Rashōjin had been obliterated by Cloud along with her "Demon Realm server." Amakusa's forces crumbled into dust. The monsters rampaging across the land lost their power source, becoming unthreatening "wild mobs" that were quickly cleaned up by various warriors and shogunate troops.

All of Japan seemed to awaken from a nightmare. Though still bearing the scars of devastation, dawn had finally broken for reconstruction.

As for our "savior" Cloud, he led his "all-star subjugation team" into a stretch of life that could only be described as "retirement-level fish mode."

He didn't rush back to the KOF world. Instead, he chose to "linger" in the Samurai Shodown world for a while. In his words, this was "paid vacation to experience local customs."

During this time, he made full use of his "Alliance Leader" authority and "money power."

He had Hattori Hanzo use shogunate resources to set up porridge stations across the land, providing relief to disaster victims. He also exchanged large quantities of crop seeds and medical supplies from the system shop, distributing them to those in need.

These actions made him not only legendary among warriors but also revered among common folk as a "living bodhisattva walking the earth." For a time, the name "Alliance Leader Cloud" rang even louder than "Shogun Tokugawa."

Of course, while "benefiting all under heaven," he didn't forget to "cultivate himself."

He spent most of his time lounging in Divine Village, enjoying the attentive care of the shrine maiden sisters.

During the day, he taught the endlessly curious Rimururu "calculus" and "relativity" (heavily modified versions), deriving great satisfaction from his role as a teacher while watching the little girl's expression of "I don't understand but I'm deeply impressed."

In the evenings, he strolled under the stars with the gentle Nakoruru, chatting about amusing stories from the KOF world—or simply saying nothing at all, just quietly leaning against each other, enjoying a tranquility and warmth that transcended time and space.

Occasionally, Haohmaru, Ukyo, and the others would come to visit (read: mooch food and drinks).

Cloud would offer pointers on their martial arts. He used Kusanagi-style ancient martial arts to discuss "the fusion of power and technique" with Haohmaru. He used Yagami-style movement to research "the mastery of speed and timing" with Ukyo.

His martial theories from a higher dimension opened new doors for these swordsmen who had already reached the pinnacle of their world, leaving them enlightened and deeply grateful.

Each one felt their martial path had advanced by a tremendous leap.
