Beyond the fortress's walls, the world had become desolate. It was only a day after the meteor shower, yet the city had been reduced to ashes and fallen buildings, and trees. The red mist blocked the sun, turning everything sky red.
Miles away, the view remained the same, some of the structures remaining were burnt and barely holding up. There was no sign of birds chirping or insects, nor were there any sounds of animals, the deep forest had been reduced to nothing but charcoal and ashes.
Growls echoed through the air, scattered across the land, and were the infected. Their movements were fast and animalistic, and dried and wet blood clung to their face and bodies. They scavenged the earth looking for their next prey.
Outside the Luxebridge city, stood a hotel with a well-fortified wall. The hotel was untouched, although the surroundings couldn't be said to be the same.
